Eco-Escolas é um programa internacional coordenado pela "Foundation for Environmental Education" (FEE) e implementado em Portugal pela Associação Bandeira Azul da Europa (ABAE) desde 1996.

Tem como objetivo promover boas práticas ambientais, reconhecer e premiar o trabalho desenvolvido pela escola na melhoria do seu desempenho ambiental, gestão do espaço escolar e sensibilização da comunidade para a sustentabilidade.

“Polar Bears in Beds of Roses”-Serpa-The Eco Schools Project Coordinator challenged the educational community to embrace this project;-The Coordination of the “European Parliament Ambassador School” project met with junior ambassadors to collect ideas within the scope of the “Polar Bears in Beds of Roses” challenge. The activity was carried out with the participation of several secondary and elementary school students divided into two groups. Some were responsible for creating an original song for the lyrics "Polar Bears in Beds of Roses" and the other group was in charge of the choreography. To coordinate these groups, music teachers and the coordinators of the eco-schools program participated.The video, in addition to the choreography, contains images of the numerous projects developed by our school's eco-schools program.Students from 3 classes participated in the choreography (10ºB, 12ºE and 6ºE), and the choreographer was a student from 12ºE, Gabriela Duarte.The melody was authored by the 11th grade student, Laura Cerveira, who in addition to being the author is the pianist.The voices are by students Carolina Barbas from 11ºA and Gabriela Duarte from 12ºE. We started the project by showing the students the original music and in a second phase, teacher Manoela Fernandes created the melody for the lyrics. The musical arrangements were made by the teachers Manoela Fernandes and Inês Fernandes, together with the students who signed up for this activity.Authorizations were sent to parents and then two working groups were started: one for choreography and another for music rehearsal. Some students were part of both working groups. Theaim was not just to memorise the lyrics of a song but also to understand and internalisewhat they were singing about, the implicit criticism of the lifestyle of today's society andthe small lifestyle changes we can all make.• 7th to 11th FebruaryOnce the music was finished and the necessary adjustments made to comply with theregulated time, rehearsals continued in Music and Music Club classes. At the same time,Physical Education classes were dedicated to the creation of the choreography andrehearsals. The choreography was analysed in Maths lessons as the associated movementsare movements which can be identified with some of the isometries studied in class(Translations, Rotations and Reflections).• 14th to 18th FebruaryIn the scope of the theme of this project, it was considered pertinent the participation ofthe class in a field trip to Terras do Risco (in Serra da Arrábida, Setúbal) in order to developthe following goals which had been worked previously in Natural Sciences classes and ClassAssemblies:- to promote creativity and behavioural change;- to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle, publicized through videos posted on socialnetworks;- to learn about the biodiversity of the surrounding region.This field trip, which included a lecture on the biodiversity of the region by NECA, endedwith a medieval picnic in the middle of Serra da Arrábida. The students dressed up andthe whole picnic was created with sustainable habits in mind. Students were encouragednot to use single-use plastics, fast-food, soft drinks, etc. The contribution of familymembers to the organisation of the medieval picnic was an added value. Parents were veryinvolved and collaborated both in the preparation of the food and in collecting crockeryand accessories for the picnic. One of the parents (as part of the Includ-ed project, whichaims to bring parents and teachers closer at school) offered to accompany the studentsand help organise this field trip and the picnic.During this visit, the filming of the video for the competition began.• 21st to 25th FebruaryIn PE and Music classes, the music and choreography rehearsals continued.• 28th February to 4th MarchIn Maths, PE and Portuguese classes, filming was done to be included in the final video.• 7th to11th MarchFilming was completed and editing of the video with all the images collected began.• 14th to 18th MarchThe editing of the video and its descriptive document was completed.The project will be publicized on the school webpage (aeqc.net) to reach the whole schoolcommunity and it is also planned to present it at the end of the year, during the School End ofthe Year Celebration/Party.At the end of the project, the class made a very positive assessment of the work developed.This project was of great importance for the achievement of the intended objectives, namelythe understanding and dissemination of a sustainable and environmentally friendly yle,especially regarding the positive changes in the daily lives of the students of this class

No âmbito do Seminário Eco-Escolas 2020, Joana Pedro, Jovem Repórter para o Ambiente, comunicou a todos os participantes a sua experiência na COP25 em Madrid, no âmbito do Painel III | "Que ação climática?".
João Ferrão foi um dos oradores convidados para o Seminário Nacional Eco-Escolas 2020, onde nos falou um pouco mais acerca de Territórios e Comunidades Sustentáveis, no âmbito do Painel II | Comunidades Sustentáveis e Espaços Exteriores.
Luísa Schmidt, convidada do Seminário Nacional Eco-Escolas 2020, introduz e modera o Painel II | Comunidades Sustentáveis e Espaços Exteriores, que contou com a presença dos oradores João Ferrão, Duarte Mata e Frederico Lopes.
O Seminário Eco-Escolas 2020 iniciou-se com a abertura do Painel I de Boas Vindas, que contou com personalidades como José Sá Fernandes, Vereador do Ambiente da CML, José Archer, Presidente da ABAE, António Belo, Vice-Presidente do IPL José Vítor Pedroso, Diretor Geral da DGE, Nuno Lacasta, Presidente da APA e Inês dos Santos Costa, Secretária de Estado do Ambiente.
