If you are experiencing fear, anxiety, or uncertainty about the world today then this video is for you. Our world is divided and too many churches are caught up in the division. God never says we will not experience fear or anxiety, but it is where we place our concerns that matters most. If you are worried about the tribalism of alt-right, wokism, and other factions along with events in Russia, China, and Europe then please watch this video as a place to be reminded that Christ is the center of our hope. This world is not our home.
Our series on Dogmas, Doctrines, Scripture, and Authority begins! I start us off as to explaining why we are going to use creeds, confessions, and catechisms to explore the Christian faith of Eastern Orthodoxy, Catholicism, and Protestants. They hold significant biblical meaning to the Church and help fight against heresy. Additionally, we look at two examples of heresy to compare and contrast. Throughout this series the Catholic Catechism, Westminster Confession of Faith, Orthodox Longer Catechism, London Baptist Confession, 39 Articles of Faith, and the Lutheran Concordia will help us as we explore Christian beliefs in relation to Scripture and Tradition. At the heart, I hope to build a singular expression for the Christian Faith.
Over the last twenty years I have observed a deep rise in human sarcasm that lacks the mercy and love we as Christians are called to have even against our own enemies.
Q: How can one disobey the first commandment, such as praying to the saints and Mary, teach this theology and still maintain the authority to cast out demons?

We are now recording on video for the Youtube channel and I am working the kinks out in this episode as learn to use OBS system with new equipment.I spend this time explaining four main reasons why I record Ecumenically Disheveled. Then we discuss what the rest of this season will be covering as we will be using creeds, confessions, and catechism's as starting points to uncover major theological differences and similarities between Catholics, Protestants, and Eastern Orthodox concerning Baptism, Eucharist, Unity, Saints, and more. The main goal of it all, to discover the truth and unified answer to all the questions concerning scripture, tradition, and reason. It is going to be massive undertaking. Episode 8 is a promise from last week that I would read a letter that I wrote for all of Christians in the world today. For Christians we call, true believers. It is my vision for Christianity for the year 2023. It is for Protestants, Catholics, and Orthodox alike. Also, I will be taking a two-week break from posting as I prepare for my summer schedule of preaching, seminary work, writing, and recording this series. ------Links Ecumenically Disheveled Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/6iHi1A4...Thy Kingdom Come: The Christian Vision for 2023https://erichey.substack.com/p/thy-ki...
Taking a break from our series to catchup with you I share some news that I am teaching and preaching. Recently I taught our youth John 18:28-40 and so in this episode I cover that lesson. Then we get to the second half of the topic concerning First Presbyterian Church of Norway and the Protestant Dilemma of Covenantalism. We discuss their recent church splits, the debate over the "Federal Vision" and paedocommunion, and the larger discussion over Covenant Theology.--------------------------------LinksFirst Presbyterian Church of Norwayhttps://fpcnorway.org/Peter Leithart, Paedocommunion, the Gospel, and the ChurchPart 1 https://theopolisinstitute.com/leitha...Part 2 https://www.patheos.com/blogs/leithar...Part 3 https://theopolisinstitute.com/leitha...Part 4 https://theopolisinstitute.com/leitha...Extra Ecclesiam nulla salushttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extra_E...Resources On The Federal Vision Theology: Against FVThttps://heidelblog.net/2018/08/resour...
Episode 6, a continuation of the Series on Dogmas, Doctrines, Scripture and Authority (part 2), is a far more free flowing discussion on theological and philosophical matters of interpretation.I discuss in grand fashion that children may be the key to our grasping the ideal method and means to interpreting Scripture. While this likely sounds radical to many, I am trying to begin a case that the simplicity and duplicity of children may unlock the door to our philosophical and theological underpinnings. This is a podcast for Protestant's made by a Protestant, but I am conversing with Catholic and Eastern Orthodoxy as we discuss these issues as well.------------------------------LinksRonald Dworkin book, Law's Empirehttps://www.amazon.com/Laws-Empire-Ronald-Dworkin/dp/0674518365/ref=sr_1_1?crid=31ESTAUER7RDF&keywords=dworkin+law%27s+empire&qid=1682725114&sprefix=dworking+la%2Caps%2C101&sr=8-1About Dworkinhttps://www.theguardian.com/law/2013/feb/14/ronald-dworkinA Puritan Theology: Doctrine for Lifehttps://www.amazon.com/Puritan-Theology-Doctrine-Life/dp/1601781660
A series on dogmas, doctrines, scripture and authority. In part 1, I make a broad introduction to a very large but essential set of subjects concerning the four major faith traditions within Christianity: Protestantism, Catholicism Eastern orthodoxy, and the Coptic Orthodox Churches. We begin by exploring Easter, , the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Pascha, or the eternal Passover to explain the role that history plays within our understanding of scripture within proper context, through an authoritative lens that then lays out doctrines and dogmas and opinions. I then discuss Baptism, Sola Scriptura, and Tradition including BB warfield's book, The inspiration and authority of the Bible. The complexity of interpretation only grows as we introduce the Apocrypha and discuss Wayne Grudem's view of the mysterious books and consider if Jesus and the New Testament Apostles may have actually quoted them or use at some point. Specifically, I look at Matthew 6:19-21 in comparison to The Book of Sirach or Ecclesiasticus Ch 29: 9-11;13. Then we take a Coptic view of manuscripts of the OT and NT through the lens of the Septuagint or LXX. Afterwards I explain the various modes of interpretation through a very familiar study of Constitutional law. Only to go back to presuppositions, the Church fathers, and so much more. Also looking at NT Wright and the New Perspective on Paul.Lastly, I make mention of Catholic author Casey J Chalk new books, Obscurity of Scripture: Disputing sola scriptura and the Protestant notion of biblical perspicuity. And then we close out with a discussion on postmodernism and the need to a unified Christian church and my first attempt to offer a statement of essentials to the Christian faith.----------------------------Links Coptic Canonhttps://www.lacopts.org/orthodoxy/our-faith/the-holy-bible/the-canonization-of-scripture/The Perspicuity of Scripturehttps://www.thegospelcoalition.org/themelios/article/the-perspicuity-of-scripture/
On March 31st of 2023, my brother and the Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in small town Ingleside Texas sat down together to discuss what it means to be Baptist and how that relates to the Christian faith and Church history. This is our first in a series on cross denominational interviews and outlooks. -----------------------------------------------------------Links:http://bethelingleside.com/https://thesouthtexaspreacher.com/https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/brandon-galbreath/episodes/1-John-Sermon-e1v0o8e
Are you reading Church history and learning more about your faith? This episode speaks to Protestants, Orthodox, Catholics, and Coptics facing their own disheveled walk in the Christian faith. I start the discussion talking about Jaroslav Pelikan, from his long life in Lutheranism only to convert to Eastern Orthodoxy late in his life. Next I discuss the coming episodes including C.S. Lewis and the Eastern Orthodox views of Dr. Lewis. Additionally I review other topics, the desire to understand the Christian faith as a whole, and the Didache. ------------------------------------------------------Sources mentioned:Baptism in the Didachehttps://reformedforum.org/baptism-in-the-didache/New Advent, The Didache https://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0714.htmDavenant Institutehttps://davenantinstitute.org/Theopolis Institutehttps://theopolisinstitute.com/First Things, Looking Easthttps://www.firstthings.com/article/2015/01/looking-eastJaroslav Pelikan and the Road to Orthodoxyhttps://danutm.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/wilken-robert-l-jaroslav-pelikan-and-the-road-to-orthodoxy.pdf----------------Not mentioned but perhaps understanding where I come from in this seeking.Credohttps://credomag.com/
In this episode, I discuss the broad problems of Modernity and its meaning for the Christian faith. It is truly an episode for all Christians and even non-Christians as we explore the commonalities shared by people all around the world concerning their hope, way of life, and the future of our world. -------------------------------------------I cited several books but I wanted to note two things specifically.
