ETE 015 – 15 Fun Ways to Increase Student Engagement and School Motivation

Student Engagement. What is it and how effective are you and your school with it? The National Society of Student Engagement defines it as two things: The amount of time and effort students put into their studies and other educationally purposeful activities. How the school institution deploys its resources and organizes the curriculum and other learning opportunities to get students to participate in activities that research studies show are linked to student learning. In it’s simplest form, I define it as… “The ability to get students to love school, its activities, and love what they are studying in school. Student engagement is directly related to student motivation. The more engaged one is in class, the more motivated he/she will be to learn in that class. I like what Dr. Pamela Seda, in View Episode #5 said,  “He who talks the most in class, learns the most” During our fall Teacher Refresh Event, the conversation on student engagement and student motivation was a highlight of the day. In episode #15 of Educate To Elevate, I want to take you inside the actual event to hear feedback from “The Great Exchange”. This was where teachers and educators, exchanged practical ideas on how they can better motivate students and engage their students to love school. How to Increase Student Engagement and Student Motivation at Your School In this video, you will hear 15 practical ways you can use to increase the culture and motivation around your school and college campus.
