Don't Suffer More Than Needed | Buddhist Philosophy on Pain and Suffering Taoism for Inner Peace (book): https://einzelganger.co/tao/“Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional,” is a Buddhist saying that points to a fundamental truth of existence, which is that pain and affliction are an inherent part of life: we contract illnesses, get wounded, lose our loved ones, our possessions, our social status. But despite the hardships we encounter, the degree of suffering we generate still varies per person. The greatest misfortune hardly affects some people, while the slightest inconvenience leads other people into states of deep agony. Thus, could it be that suffering is something we can manage and doesn’t always have to result from pain?Don't Suffer More Than Needed | Buddhist Philosophy on Pain and SufferingSupport the channel:✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC(Donated BTC and want in the credits? Letting Someone Go | Taoism for Broken Hearts Taoism for Inner Peace (book): https://einzelganger.co/tao/The philosophy of Taoism revolves around letting go, accepting, yielding, and going with the flow. All Taoist sages seem to agree that it’s better to be detached and indifferent, allow change to happen, and move along with life’s constant transformations than to resist change and cling to what’s already in the past. When we are romantically involved with someone, we often see the opposite happening of what the Taoists teach. We attach, we cling, we control, and we’re usually very fearful of being abandoned by the person who generates immense bliss within ourselves. At the peak of the socalled honeymoon phase,’ when everything seems carefree, joyful, and happy, we wish it would never end. But as we all know: this period of mutual infatuation never lasts. No feeling is final. The changing nature of our emotional world causes us to fall out of love, sometimes as quickly as we fall in love. When feelings change, the relationship changes. Frequently, the consequence of declined feelings of attraction, for whatever reason, is a breakup.Such a drastic change is challenging to handle, especially when the decline in attraction isn’t mutual. For some, it takes years (or even a lifetime) to get over someone. Others never truly accept the breakup and move Heaven and Earth to win back their old flame, to no avail. When we cannot change outside circumstances, the only way to move forward is to change ourselves, including how we look at the situation at hand. The Taoist ideas in this video could help us see the breakup (and heartbreak in general) in another light.Letting Someone Go | Taoism for Broken HeartsSupport the channel:✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC(Donated BTC and want in the credits? The Art of Meditation (animated video) What is meditation? And how can we use meditation to alleviate our suffering and achieve peace of mind? 🎞️ Animated by Munkaa: https://www.youtube.com/user/jus7y Meditation is probably a bit more complicated than most people think. When we meditate we watch our thoughts, while focusing our attention on a certain anchor that keeps us in the present, for example, the breath. While watching the breath we observe how our thoughts come and go, along with our feelings and emotions. And when we get dragged into them, we bring back our attention to our anchor. But this isn’t the whole story. Meditation isn’t just about watching our inner processes. It’s a tool to transform and cultivate the mind, used in spiritual practices as we see in Buddhism and Hinduism. Cultivating the mind is like a gardening project. By meditating, we train ourselves to become aware of our inner garden, so we can cultivate as well as protect it.This means that we prevent weeds from growing, eradicate the weeds that are already present, and replace them with beautiful plants and trees. A welltended garden resembles a serene and joyful mind. This animated video explores the art of meditation.Support the channel:✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC(Donated BTC and want in the credits? The downside of belonging to a group... The major downside of belonging to a group is the expectation of conformity: belonging requires us to adapt. Often, this means that people expect us, in many regards, to do as they do, speak as they speak, and, not uncommonly, think as they think. How to Reduce the Pain of Life | Arthur Schopenhauer The nineteenthcentury German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer observed that nature is driven by an allencompassing force, which he called Will, or more specifically, the WillToLive. This force is unconscious, aimless, and blind, and gives rise to an insatiable striving within human beings. We live our lives grasping, craving, and attaching ourselves to external things, and we feed on other living organisms to perpetuate our own existence, all of which is a manifestation of Will. Thus, the will lies at the root of suffering, as our neverending hunger (and our inability to satiate it) results in an ongoing pursuit of pleasure that never, ever satisfies in the long run. To cope with the misery of life, Schopenhauer took the effort to construct a philosophy to help us attain a state of happiness, which may seem a bit strange as he’s such a pessimistic thinker. But similar to a philosopher and spiritual teacher that lived about 2,500 years ago named the Buddha, Schopenhauer rigorously examined and endured the illnesses of existence before he came up with a cure. After his death, Schopenhauer left us with an unfinished manuscript titled “Die Kunst, glücklich zu sein,” which can be translated as “The art of being happy”, and contains fifty rules for life. This video is based on the fifty rules by Arthur Schopenhauer, and explores how we can reduce the pain of life.Support the channel:✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC(Donated BTC and want in the credits? How Epicurus Keeps Calm The ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus may seem an unlikely figure to teach us how to achieve a calm mind because of his reputation as an indulgent pleasureseeker. Unfortunately, the teachings of Epicurus are gravely misunderstood by many. While it’s true that, according to Epicurus, pleasure leads to happiness, his philosophy leans much more to asceticism than to indulgence.Within Epicurus’ teachings, we find a curious recipe for reaching a state of ‘ataraxia’, which can be translated as ‘equanimity’ or ‘tranquility’. Unlike the Stoics, Epicurus wasn’t interested in traditional virtues. Instead, he believed that engaging in the right amount of pleasure, given this is done with wisdom and moderation, is the key to a happy life. This video explores how an Epicurean achieves peace and calm.Support the channel:✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC(Donated BTC and want in the credits? Outsiders & Outcasts (For Those That Don't Belong) From the moment we are born as human beings, the people around us prepare us to fit the herd. We start out as being part of a family, and then we expand our social life with friends, acquaintances, colleagues, and, in many cases, a significant other. People tend to work together and spend time with each other, and thus, they form a welloiled machine called society.Living among the herd has many benefits, like safety, security, access to other people including potential mates, and a shared identity that creates a sense of self. But in some cases, the herd doesn’t want you anymore, and you become an outcast. Or you don’t want the herd anymore, and you become a recluse. Or, perhaps, a little bit of both. No matter what the reason is: some people just don’t seem to belong. And when you don’t belong, you’re an outsider; an outcast. So, how do we handle being an outsider? What about those that don't belong? This video explores the fate of those outsiders and outcasts that live outside the herd.Support the channel:✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC(Donated BTC and want in the credits? Why Not Needing People is Great Not needing people can be a blessing. No matter where we look, when people come together, there’s always some form of turmoil, be it gossip, bullying, people antagonizing each other, or fights. When people depend on each other, it’s the unfortunate part of the deal. But if we don’t need these people, we don’t have to tolerate their behavior; we don’t have to bear the cross of associating with those we don’t like just to get our needs met.Check out the full video: https://youtu.be/FShlGToheno#solitude #loner #notbelonging Turn on notifications for the podcast & rate it a 5star for new episodes. The Man Who Hated The World (Animated Short Story) In a dirty prison cell, there lived a man who dedicated his whole life to isolating himself from the world. As opposed to most prisoners, he wasn’t put there against his will. This man voluntarily lived in a prison cell, knowing that he could walk out anytime he wanted. Nevertheless, he never tried.“Why should I?” he told himself every time this annoying voice tried to persuade him to leave. “The world is a disgusting place,” he uttered. “And in here, at least I’m safe”.He was a loner, without a doubt. But he didn’t choose solitude because he loved his own company. He did it because he hated the world. The Man Who Hated The World is a (motivational) short story about a man who suffers from severe existential angst. On top of that, he is tormented by an annoying voice that tries to persuade him to leave his cell. Even though he hates almost everything that the world has to offer, he does like the sea. Unfortunately, he is too scared to go out and visit. Rather, he enjoys the safety of his cell, and his resolve is strengthened by the misery that overcomes the people around him. But is he truly as safe as he thinks he is?Credits:Written by: EinzelgängerAnimation & narration: EinzelgängerStory editing & advice: Fleur Marie VazMusic used:The Tides SomnolentQuincas Moreira MariposaThe 126ers RageMyuu Lurking ShadowsSupport the channel:✔️ PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/einzelgangerco✔️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/einzelgangster✔️ Bitcoin: 3HQnEz1LQ4G6dqN2LdZgzc7qoJjJCyWjTC(Donated BTC and want in the credits? Why we prefer being alone... Despite feeling lonely People generally agree that seeking close relationships is the solution when suffering at the hands of loneliness. We seek friendships to fill in the empty hole we’ve been experiencing. We join groups and clubs just to be around people – to feel the warmth of a community. But people tend to ignore the miseries accompanying these close relationships. When we consider the pain that goes together with closeness, it’s no surprise that many friendships result in fighting, and romantic relationships often fall apart dramatically. When dealing with others, we risk being betrayed, insulted, and abandoned.#loneliness #loner #alone Turn on notifications for the podcast & rate it a 5star for new episodes.
