Wednesday June 23rd, 2021 marks 9 years since the deadly collapse at the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake.  Why is it important for us to acknowledge the anniversary of the collapse in Elliot Lake? Note: Listener advisory due to the sensitive subject nature.
Living in Elliot Lake with many different species of wildlife is like getting a year round free pass to the Zoo and Bird Sanctuary. In this episode, I’ll highlight a few of these stunning creatures and take a look at things we can do to co-exist with some of our wildlife friends. Elliot Lake 108 will also share a “Support Local Spotlight” on a local business that hangs where the wildlife roams and is also entertaining.
In this episode, we will touch on key witnesses that testified at the Elliot Lake Inquiry who involved with the construction and management of the Algo Centre Mall. The shopping mall in Elliot Lake leaked almost immediately after it opened to the public and continued to leak until that fatal day in June of 2012 where the partial roof collapse took the lives of Doloris Perizzolo and Lucie Aylwin. 
Witness testimony at the Elliot Lake Public Inquiry commenced on Tuesday March 5th, 2013 at the White Mountain Academy in Elliot Lake.  Only 1 witness would appear on the opening day and that witness would be followed by 117 additional witnesses throughout the public witness testimony portion.  Do you recall the Algo Centre Mall?

February 21st marks the 2nd anniversary of the 2019- Elliot Lake Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre, partial roof collapse. The collapse was just shy a few months of 7 years since the partial roof collapse of the Algo Centre Mall on June 23rd, 2012 in Elliot Lake. I reflect back on an unforgettable and once again, perhaps avoidable event.
January 31st marks 7 years since the only arrest pertaining to the collapse at the Algo Centre Mall was executed. Nineteen months had past since the partial roof collapse of the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake. The Ontario Provincial police had been investigating the collapse since July 2012. A press conference was held in Elliot Lake on Friday January 31st, 2014.

Municipal Election 2022 and no shortage of candidates. Does this all look too familiar to you? Well it is. We have been here before. Flashback to October of 2014.  October 15th, 2014 marks the 8th anniversary  of the Report of the Elliot Lake Commission of Inquiry  The 2014 Municipal election followed less than 2 weeks after the report was presented in Elliot Lake at the former Lester B Pearson Centre which also experienced a collapse in Feb of 2019
