At the start of this year, I shared a post on Instagram about children and anger, and it went VIRAL. Hundreds of thousands of parents liked, shared, and commented, because it hit home in such a powerful way. Why? Because so many of us have been fed myths about what anger in kids means, and what we’re “supposed” to do about it.So today I broke it all down.👉 What an angry child doesn’t mean (hint: think entitlement, rudeness, or needing harsher punishments).👉 What anger really is a signal of... from overwhelm to dysregulation to sensory overload.👉 How you can respond with calm, confidence, and compassion (instead of conflict). If you’ve ever felt lost, frustrated, or unsure when your child lashes out, this is the episode that will shift everything. You’ll leave with a new perspective, and practical strategies to handle anger in a way that builds connection, not chaos.🩷 Hi! If you’ve ever felt like traditional parenting advice, or even the school system, just doesn’t FIT your child, especially if they’re neurodivergent, this episode is going to shift your perspective.I’m joined by the brilliant Christina Keeble—an AuDHD mother of two neurodivergent PDAers, and a Neurodiversity and Educational Consultant with over 23 years of experience. Christina has worked with schools, families, businesses, and government organisations to change the way we see and support neurodivergent kids.Together we dive into:✨ Why kids’ need for connection never fades (even if society acts like it should)✨ How school expectations often clash with children’s real needs✨ Why rewards and consequences often do more harm than good✨ How neurodivergent kids challenge social hierarchies—and why that’s actually a strengthStick around to the end, where Christina shares powerful insights for parents considering leaving the school system—you don’t want to miss it.This is one of those conversations that will leave you both challenged and encouraged. Ever wonder why, no matter how hard you try, you keep slipping back into the same old parenting reactions? The ones you swore you’d never repeat? You're in the right place. Today I spoke with Lael Stone, educator, TEDx speaker, parenting counsellor, and now author of the brand-new book Own Your Story. Lael told me how our childhood “imprints”, the beliefs, feelings, and patterns you absorbed when we were little, are quietly steering our parenting today. She revealed: ✨ Why your biggest triggers hold the key to your growth ✨ How to break the cycles you inherited (without shame or guilt) ✨ The gentle art of “reparenting” yourself so you can parent differently ✨ Why having kids brings your deepest wounds to the surface — and how to heal themThis is your chance to step out of the old loops and create a calmer, more connected home… starting from the inside out!!Grab a copy of Lael’s book Own Your Story, and let’s dive in!Find Lael's work at www.laelstone.com.au and her book is available at all stores and online now!🌟Follow me on Insta @emotionally.intelligent.parentHave you joined my Facebook Group for parents? MIC DROP MOMENT!So I have now come to question every situation I've been in because... what if every argument, every eye-roll, every “you’re so unfair!” moment… isn’t just something to survive, but an invitation to finally break old habits and RECREATE who you are in the face of stress and conflict? Stay with me...Today I’m sharing a powerful coaching strategy, a monumental shift that will change how you see fights/upset/arguments/ with your kids, your partner, and even strangers at the checkout. Inspired by a real-life parenting moment that brought this lesson home for me and my son last night, I'll show you exactly how emotional intelligence helps you move from control to connection, EVEN in the heat of the moment. You’ll learn:Why conflict is never really about “winning” and the powerful quote that will transform the way you respondThe hidden truth every tough conversation reveals: the gap between who you want to be and what you’re currently doing (hello, cognitive dissonance)What to say (and not say) when tensions rise, with four practical, honest scripts you can start using todayWhy you don’t have to handle things perfectly, but you do need to do one important thing after a tense situationSimple ways to model emotionally intelligent conflict resolution for your kids — even if you’re still figuring it out yourselfThis isn’t just about staying calm. It’s about becoming the kind of parent, partner, and person you truly want to be — one choice, one conversation at a time.Because in every moment, you get to decide: Will I escalate… or evolve? 🌟 Follow me on Insta @emotionally.intelligent.parentHave you joined my Facebook Group for parents? Most people believe that parenting is all about managing your child’s behaviour. But the truth is BOTH your child’s outbursts AND your own reactions are driven by your nervous systems. And no-one knows this stuff! In this powerful and validating conversation, I sit down with Justin Sunseri (LMFT and host of the Stuck Not Broken podcast) to explore how the Polyvagal Theory completely shifts the way you understand both your children’s behaviour AND your own emotional patterns. We unpack:Why your child isn’t “bad”, they’re dysregulatedWhy you keep snapping, yelling, or shutting down, even when you don’t want toThe difference between compliance and true regulationHow to co-regulate with your child when you’re feeling triggered tooWhy emotionally intelligent parenting starts with nervous system awareness, not just strategyHow to begin creating a home that feels truly safe, for everyoneIf you’ve ever felt stuck in reactive loops, overwhelmed by your child’s big emotions, or ashamed of your own responses, this episode offers clarity, compassion, and truly practical tools. If you're like me and like to WATCH as well as listen - you can see this episode over on YouTube.FIND JUSTIN'S WORK AND PODCAST HERE: www.justinlmft.com🎁🎁🎁 My gift to you is my hugely popular, short online course that unpacks all of this! Calling all unicorns who never get frustrated or angry! This episode isn't for you 😉Ok, let's be real. The true statistic is 100% of parents have those moments where they snap, shout, or shut down... and then feel awful. You want to stay calm. You want to be patient. But sometimes it just… takes over.In this episode, we’re talking about anger from a completely new perspective - your nervous system's point of view.Because underneath the yelling or frustration is something really important: a nervous system doing its best to protect you. We’ll unpack what’s actually going on when you’re triggered, why logic alone doesn’t help in the heat of the moment, and how to start building emotional safety — not just for your kids, but for you too. You’ll learn:✅ Why anger isn’t the enemy, it’s an intelligent body signal✅ What your nervous system is trying to protect you from✅ Real tools to regulate (the experts know and use these)This isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about getting curious.Because when you understand your own triggers, you parent from a place of power, not pressure. This is only for people ready to learn the deep wisdom and understanding of the body, we're not talking quick fixes or mantas like "my child isn't giving me a hard time, they're having one". These are nice but not effective in the heat of the moment.🎁 Don't forget - one of my most POPULAR online self-paced courses is available to YOU guys for only $17 (normally $97!). Today we share a real-life moment when our child heard SUPER inappropriate language online. We talk about how we responded, how we used emotional intelligence to stay connected, and how to set boundaries without shame. If you're navigating tricky online influences with your kids, this is a must-listen.Ever had one of those blindsiding parenting moments where your child’s world collides with the internet’s wilder side, right in your living room?In this episode, my husband (yep, he’s back!) and I unpack last night’s heart-pounding scene: an innocent game, a friend’s shock-value words no ten-year-old should hear, and the split-second choice between clamping down or leaning in.We walk you through the raw, real-time conversation we had with our kids, how we drew a firm new boundary without losing trust, and why emotional intelligence (not punishment) turned a potential meltdown into a masterclass in connection. You’ll hear two perspectives (one mum, one dad, two different upbringings) and leave with practical scripts, nervous-system-savvy tips, and a fresh lens on raising kids who come to you, rather than hide from you, when things get messy. This conversation might just rewrite the way you handle the next “Wait… they said WHAT?!” moment. If you're like me and like to WATCH as well as listen - you can see this episode over on Youtube here.🎁 Don't forget - one of my most POPULAR online self-paced courses is available to YOU guys for only $17 (normally $97!). Talking to kids about emotions is only going to make them soft snowflakes. Letting kids show their emotions opens them up to bullying or means they're going to walk all over us when they're mad. Right?Think again. In this episode, I’m calling out one of the biggest parenting myths around emotional intelligence, and breaking down why raising emotionally intelligent kids is the OPPOSITE of raising weak ones.I'm talking about:What real resilience actually looks like (and why “toughening up” is outdated)How emotional intelligence builds grit, problem-solving, and self-regulationThe dangerous behaviours that come from not teaching kids how to handle emotionsAnd how to raise kids who bounce back, think clearly under pressure, and own their emotions—instead of being ruled by them.Whether you’re new to the EI approach or still battling a skeptical partner or in-law, this one’s for you.PLUS — I’ll share my own story, practical examples, and a crazy-simple analogy that’ll reframe everything you thought you knew about “soft parenting.”👉 Ready to ditch the shouting and raise calm, confident, emotionally resilient kids?🎁🎁🎁 Grab my Reactive to Responsive Parenting Course for just $17 using the code PODCAST17 (normally $97!)Find it here!🎧 Pleeease take a sec to subscribe, review, and share this episode if it hit home. (🎁 Scroll down for my gift!! 🎁)When a mum shared online that she blew up at her 10-year-old daughter, who then jumped out of the car in a crowded carpark, the comments went WILD.Everyone flooded in with BAD ADVICE.“Take her devices!” “Be stricter!” “Punish her for being disrespectful!”Are we still in the 80's? Seems so.In this video, I break down why that advice is not only unhelpful — but actually incredibly harmful for kids who are already struggling. And it doesn't help the parent at all either! This isn’t just about disrespect or screen time… it’s about what’s going on beneath the behaviour.I’ll walk you through:🧠 Why punishment-based advice (aka behaviourism) NEVER works — especially with neurodivergent kids🧠 What your child’s “bad behaviour” is really telling you🧠 How you can stay calm and connected when your child pushes your buttons🧠 What I would have said to this mum if we were sitting down together over coffee🎁 🎁 🎁 If you’re feeling reactive, overwhelmed or stuck in power struggles, check out my course From Reactive to Responsive Parenting — it’s made exactly for moments like these.😇 Right now I'm gifting it to you for $17 instead of $97!!! A parent called me out in front of everyone at a live parenting workshop in Sydney recently!! EEK.(🎁 Scroll down for my gift!!!)Basically they said: "Why bother with emotional intelligence? Isn’t it faster to just punish and move on?"He’s right about one thing. This kind of parenting does take more time and effort. It’s inconvenient. It’s slower. It requires more of us.But it also builds something punishment never can: connection, trust, and long-term emotional resilience. So in this video, I share why I choose the harder way — the emotionally intelligent way — even when life is busy, messy, and overwhelming.Because our kids don’t need more control. They need more coaching. And the world they’re growing up in is going to demand "soft skills" like empathy, self-regulation, and communication more than EVER before. This is for the parents who want to raise emotionally intelligent humans in a fast, AI-driven world — and who are ready to lead that revolution.🎁🎁🎁 I'VE GOT A GIFT FOR YOU!Want to learn how to parent this way with confidence?Take my most popular Emotional Intelligence course, From Reactive to Responsive Parenting — it’s online, accessible worldwide, and built for parents who don’t want to be left behind.🎁 And the gift?
