Hello everyone! After a long month off, Tony and Evan reunite to discuss some pressing entertainment law topics in the news. First, Tony and Evan lead things off with the news of TikTok suing the US government for the tentative TikTok ban, alleging such a ban infringes on the company's 1st Amendment right to free speech (04:39). Next, Tony and Evan talk about the diss track wars between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar in which each artist makes allegations about the other in some heated tracks - but can Kendrick or Drake sue each other for defamation? (13:41) Later, Tony and Evan talk about an interesting lawsuit involving theater chain Cinemark, in which consumers allege that the chain has engaged in false advertising...over the amount of soda served in their large cups. Tony and Evan discuss if this is, in fact, a winnable case for the class of plaintiffs (25:03). Finally, in honor of Tom Brady's roast on Netflix, Tony and Evan share who they would want to host their roast (32:18).

Happy Episode 40 everyone! Evan and Tony are back from some time off and the entertainment law news cycle didn't sleep while they were gone. Tony and Evan break down the legal implications and what the outcome could be. Next, Tony and Evan talk (and laugh) about an insanely horrible Willy Wonka location based experience that was created by a company in Glasgow, Scotland that was falsely advertised to be an amazing experience when it was far from one. Finally, with the release of Dune 2 in theaters. Tony and Evan share who they would have dinner with the cast of Dune and why (29:23).

Happy 30 Episodes, End Scene listeners! Tony and Evan reunite for this 30th episode of End Scene and per usual, some great entertainment law topics are on the docket. First, Tony and Evan talk about the recent Disney short film "Once Upon a Studio" to commemorate 100 years of the Walt Disney Company (06:35). The film features a posthumous cameo of Robin Williams as "Genie" from the film "Aladdin" which was approved by Robin Williams' Estate. Tony and Evan talk about post-mortem personality rights licensing and why Disney needed to secure Robin Williams' voice rights to feature him in "Once Upon a Studio." Second, Tony and Evan talk about a copyright infringement lawsuit that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear this 2023-24 term involving Flo Rida's song "In The Ayer." However, this is NOT your traditional copyright infringement lawsuit as the Supreme Court will assess the statute of limitations that are typical in copyright infringement lawsuits. Tony and Evan discuss their thoughts on this case (18:58). Finally, in honor of 30 episodes, Tony and Evan share their favorite End Scene episode so far (29:26).

Happy Friday everyone! Tony and Evan recorded this week's episode on September 21st, fittingly the day that is referenced in the iconic Earth, Wind, and Fire song "September." Nevertheless, this week's episode is short but sweet with some great topics. First, Tony and Evan discuss the essence of force majeure clauses and their application in production contracts in light of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes (03:33). Next, Tony and Evan discuss a licensing meltdown between Drake and Halle Berry over his use of Berry's likeness on the cover of his latest single "Slime You Out." According to Halle Berry, she denied permission of her likeness featured on the single's album cover but Drake went ahead and used it anyway (14:03). What recourse does Halle Berry have? And finally, in honor of "September," Tony and Evan share their favorite Earth, Wind, and Fire song (23:11).

After taking a few weeks off, Evan and Tony are reunited for a brand new episode of End Scene! Evan and Tony spend some time catching up on what they've been up to the last few weeks before they dive in to the week's topics. This week, Tony and Evan talk about Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Concert film and how her direct-to-consumer model for distributing the film is a groundbreaking move (07:37). Next, Tony and Evan talk about a lawsuit that was dismissed in California alleging that the removal of actress Ana De Armas in the film "Yesterday" did not amount to a viable cause of action or a tortious claim, even though she appeared in the trailer for the film (21:26). Finally, in honor of Evan's Greek getaway, Tony and Evan share their favorite Greek dish (29:06).

A new week means a new episode of "End Scene" and Tony and Evan are ready to share some great headlines from the week. First, Tony and Evan talk about the bombshell story out of the DC District Court that ruled that AI-generated works are incapable of receiving copyright protection (04:49). Tony and Evan talk about the legal significance of this ruling, especially with what it means for the future of the SAG and WGA strikes. Second, Tony and Evan discuss a lawsuit between the NY Knicks and Toronto Raptors basketball teams (16:46) in which the Knicks alleged that a former Knicks employee collected proprietary information like scouting reports, video tape footage, player tendency reports, and much more and shared it with the Toronto Raptors. Tony and Evan discuss trade secret misappropriation and how this offense could actually lead to sanctions against the Toronto Raptors. Finally, Tony and Evan take a trip down memory lane and share their favorite law school class (31:39).

Next, Tony and Evan talk about the headline of the week where we learned that Michael Oher, a former NFL player who was the subject of the Oscar-winning film "The Blind Side," was actually under a conservatorship and not adopted by the Tuohy family (09:22). Later, Tony and Evan talk about news of Britney Spears and Sam Asghari headed for divorce and provide a quick family law lesson about the grounds for filing a divorce.
