The Engaging the Scripture: Student Devotional Podcast is coming in January 2019. The goal of the podcast is to help students take the truths of God’s Word and engage them into your everyday life. For Season 1, we will engage the book of James.
In Season 1: Episode 1: “From Brother of Jesus to Slave of Jesus,” we will engage in studying James 1:1. We will explore what it means to be a slave of Jesus and explore what it would look like to truly be a follower of Jesus.
In Season 1: Episode 2: “The Growth Process,” we will engage in studying James 1:2-4. We will explore what it means to allow trails and hardships in our lives to strengthen our faith and endurance to follow after Jesus.
In Season 1: Episode 3: “Seeking Wisdom by Faith,” we will engage in studying James 1:5-8. We will explore what it looks like to seek wisdom from God and to follow in His ways.
In Season 1: Episode 4: “Temporary vs. Eternal Value,” we will engage in studying James 1:9-11. We will explore how James redefines our social status and that we should invest in things that will last forever.
In Season 1: Episode 5: “Blessing in Trials,” we will engage in studying James 1:12. We will explore how during times of trials we can be blessed because we have a trustworthy God to hold onto.
In Season 1: Episode 6: “The Source and Pattern of Temptation,” we will engage in studying James 1:13-15. We will explore where temptations come from and how we can learn to resist temptation in our own lives.
In Season 1: Episode 7: “Eternal Gifts and Transformation,” we will engage in studying James 1:16-18. We will explore the source of the blessings in our life and reflect on the greatest blessing of all.
In Season 1: Episode 8: “Anger and Righteousness,” we will engage in studying James 1:19-20. We will explore how to address anger and frustration in our lives and how to respond to others.
In Season 1: Episode 9: “Scripture Directed Transformation,” we will engage in studying James 1:21. We will explore how the Holy Spirit is changing us to look more and more like Jesus.
In Season 1: Episode 10: “Do the Word: Faith Leads to Action,” we will engage in studying James 1:22-25. We will explore the importance of putting our faith into action.
In Season 1: Episode 11: “True Religion in Action,” we will engage in studying James 1:26-27. We will explore that living your faith is displayed in watching your words, having compassion on those in need, and living purely in the world.
In Season 1: Episode 12: “Playing Favorites,” we will engage in studying James 2:1-4. We will explore the problem of playing favorites and how we can be welcoming to everyone.
In Season 1: Episode 13: “Those Great in the Kingdom,” we will engage in studying James 2:5-7. We will explore who God defines as great in His kingdom and how we can love and serve them better.
In Season 1: Episode 14: “Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment,” we will engage in studying James 2:8-13. We will explore the amazing truth that God has shown great mercy to us and how we can extend that same mercy to others.
In Season 1: Episode 15: “Dead Faith,” we will engage in studying James 2:14-17. We will explore what James refers to as a “dead faith” and how our faith can be alive.
In Season 1: Episode 16: “Faith Shown by Works,” we will engage in studying James 2:18. We will explore the truth that good works don’t create faith but come as a result of faith.
In Season 1: Episode 17: “Living a Demonic Faith,” we will engage in studying James 2:19. We will explore what a demonic faith looks like and how we can live an authentic faith.
In Season 1: Episode 18: “Abraham’s Example of Faith by Works,” we will engage in studying James 2:20-24. We will explore how Abraham displayed his own faith by his works.
In Season 1: Episode 19: “Rahab’s Example of Faith by Works,” we will engage in studying James 2:25-26. We will explore how Rahab displayed her own faith by her works.
