How will New York convert to fossil free energy by 2050? Can we reach the goal of 100% electric vehicle use by 2035? How will Long Island adapt to solar power and overcome issues like energy storage? These are some of the compelling questions we’ll explore in our next Environmental Echo podcast featuring guest Carrie Meek Gallagher, Director of the Long Island Office of the NY State Department of Public Service. In part I of “Long Island & New York: A Bi-Directional Energy Highway,” Paul Boyce, CEO of PW Grosser, taps into Ms. Gallagher’s extensive experience and insights to reveal the impact of the Climate Act on Long Island and the progress and plans underway to convert to fossil free energy use in the near future.  #EnvironmentalEcho #PWGrosser #PWGC  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) confirms that 2020 was one of the most extreme years for global environmental events such as storms, flooding, droughts, and more. This is attributed to the rise of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere contributing to increased global temperatures. With climate emergency being widely accepted as one of our next obstacles to overcome, businesses are assessing their carbon footprint and how they can reduce and reverse one of humanity's largest looming problems. In this podcast, Paul K. Boyce, PE, PG, discusses atmospheric warmings impact for local companies with PWGC colleagues Marie Mendes, IE, Director, Seattle Office and Doreen Carlson, Senior Project Manager. #carbonfootprint #carbonneutral #carbonoffsetting To watch a video version of this podcast, ask a question, suggest a topic or to be a guest on the show visit us at https://pwgrosser.com/podcast If you or your organization is in need of our services please contact us at https://pwgrosser.com/contact/ or call 631-589-6353. PWGC designed a state-of-the-art geothermal heating and cooling system—the largest municipal system of its kind to date—for the renovation of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC. Replacing its previous system of steam radiators and 1960s-era air conditioning, the cathedral now has a perimeter of 10 wells as deep as 2,200 feet into the Manhattan bedrock, collecting groundwater that helps the church efficiently heat and cool. The Archdiocese ultimately selected a geothermal system due to its many significant benefits over a conventional HVAC system including the lowest first, long-term operations and maintenance costs. Join host Paul K. Boyce, PE, PG, President/CEO and his special guests, Jeff Murphy, FAIA and Partner at Murphy, Burnham & Buttrick Architects and Tom Newbold, PE, CEM, CGD, LEED at Landmark Facilities Group, Inc, as they discuss this award winning topic.
