My guest this week is Leeron Liftik, a trainer and behaviour consultant in California. Leeron has extensive experience with shelter dogs and we had a really cool conversation. "Dogs are dogs; let them be that. The area I am called on most frequently to support is helping medium and high-drive personality working breeds to integrate into companion-level homes. My approach is creating change at an emotional level to impact behaviours informed by the resilience conditioning framework. By focusing on holistically meeting the animal's needs from an integrative platform, any maladaptive coping mechanisms inherently become obsolete. I maintain specialty in treating fear-based behaviours, aggression, separation related behaviours and gestational development for puppies. I work with dogs from all sorts of background but far and away have the most experience with shelter and rescue animals and they represent my preferred population."You can reach him via his Facebook page.https://www.facebook.com/ProfessionalDogNerd

This week's guest is Alice Davies.Alice runs A.D. Dog Training, a force free dog walking and training service. Having worked with numerous dogs in a variety of settings her true passion (or some say obsession!) for dog training was ignited and grew alongside her first dog a an adult, Maisie. Maisie has been Alice's companion for over 14yrs and has helped teach her a tremendous amount but most importantly how to slow down and be more mindful. In recent years Alice and her family have also welcomed a Romanian rescue, Evie, into the home who continues to challenge and improve her skills on a daily basis!Taking up dog walking as a part time job during studies Alice soon came to the realisation that a full time career working with dogs was not only possible but would also be a dream come true! Walking dogs and spending so much time with them allowed invaluable insight into their behaviour and body language. Reading and researching as much as possible and carrying out many courses during this time Alice endeavoured to learn as much as she could about ethical, force-free training to ensure she was up to date with current knowledge and scientific research. Currently a student with PACT (Professional Association of Canine Trainers) Alice is always eager to learn more and expand on her expertise.Alice aims to help dogs, and their humans, live happy, harmonious lives. She believes dogs should be allowed to be dogs, but within safe boundaries, ensuring they can live and thrive in our human-filled world.Website: https://addogtraining.co.uk/Facebook & Instagram https://www.facebook.com/addogtraininghttps://www.instagram.com/addogtraining/profilecard/?igsh=Ynkxd2J6OHN2dWhs

My journey into the world of positive dog training began with the adoption of my rescue dog George who faced behavioural challenges and was deemed unsuitable for rehoming. Helping and understanding George, ignited a passion in me that led me to leave my military career to pursue dog training full-time.Since then, I have devoted myself to understanding the science behind modern, positive training techniques, earning qualifications that reflect my commitment to ethical practices. I have spent the last few years researching, practicing and training dogs and their guardians, before opening Pawsitive Life in June - our positive only dog daycare and training hub designed to serve the local community. At Pawsitive Life, myself and the team focus on creating a nurturing, enriching environment where every dog is cared for in the most positive and ethical way possible. With an ethos rooted in compassion for dogs and force free training backed by science, I believe that training should be a joyful experience for both dogs and their guardians and truly develop their bond and relationship, without fear.I am dedicated to making Pawsitive Life daycare and training hub a transparent, force free, positive only dog hub within community, focusing on educating owners and empowering and developing his team in science backed positive training."
In this episode, I look at how to start building fluency in your dog's behaviour using the concepts of building duration, increasing distance and having your dog perform that behaviour you are teaching under increasing (but fair) levels of distraction.

This week, I'm talking to Eileen Koval, a dog trainer in Las Vegas, on the topic of snake avoidance and how it can be applied to other areas of our lives with our dogs.Eileen Koval, CDBC, CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA, MSc (in Operations Management) is a fully certified dog behaviour consultant with the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC). She believes the foundation of a good cross-species relationship is understanding the needs and normal behaviour patterns of each dog as an individual, as he/she was bred to be. She enjoys helping humans and dogs communicate more effectively to create brilliant relationships with joy, purpose, and fulfilment for all species involved. She offers private consulting for serious dog behaviour issues, obedience/manners, and agility training. Eileen developed a unique online course to help pet parents and trainers develop reliable snake avoidance behaviour off-leash through positive reinforcement techniques. These techniques have been applied by trainers worldwide to teach dogs reliable avoidance of dangerous environmental hazards and off-leash property boundaries. She lives on a small ranch in Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband and their Nederlandse Kooikerhondjes. You can connect with Eileen herehttps://www.confidentcaninesdogtraining.com/https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057740166923
I was asked by my colleague, Mary Torrano, how my practice of Stoicism has influenced my daily life with my own dog, my clients and their dogs. In this episode, I select a few Stoic principles and illustrate how they apply to our lives wit our dogs.
Don't worry! This is way more interesting than statistical analysis. This week's guest is with Iain Robertson (Rob), and Englishman In Norway! We had an awesome chat about a variety of topics including a potentially world changing project which he and others are spearheading.Ron writes"Originally from the UK but now living just south of Oslo in Norway. I have a background from the Telecoms industry where I have worked for many different companies ( Royal Navy, BT, Marconi, Telenor ) and held different positions. Three and half years ago I started working for myself as a Private Consultant offering management and project services. At around the same time I started my education as a Dog Training instructor with Tess Erngren and the GoodDog Academy after finding I needed more insight and help with my dog Baloo, a field line Labrador Retriever. Fast forward to today I have recently qualified as a behaviour consultant where I help people on a one to one basis with their dogs behaviour. At the same time I run a weekly open training where I manage each session depending on the needs of the dogs and people attending.Recently and on the back of doing a startup incubator program with a company called Antler this spring in Oslo I have taken my passion for dogs to a whole new level. We are going to build the world's largest database of dog training and behaviour. We want to improve information about dogs for everyone and show that positive reinforcement training does work. If this is something that you think is interesting and would like to help with please visit www.canisdata.com or alternatively you can send me an email to info@canisdata.com. How shall we do this? by providing software to the trainer to set up their classes and manage one to one training. The dog owner/ guardian uses the APP/ Software to track their training progress. We are in the early stage of testing and always on the lookout for volunteers to help test so owners and trainers are both welcome. The grand vision is to track the dog from birth to death and to cover Breeders, Fear Periods, Breed Specific Knowledge, Training and Behaviour, Nutrition, Health and Environmental but this is going to take a long time to achieve. This is why we concentrate on building where we see the greatest need. Come join our community."
Another Q and A. Are "pack walks" good for reactivity? Is trick training good? How do I train proximity when my dog is off lead/leash?How do I evolve the focus game? You can sign up to the focus game using the link belowhttps://glasgowdogtraineronline.thinkific.com/courses/bulletproof-focusIf you have any feedback, please leave a comment or review, you can email me info@glasgowdogtrainer.co.uk with any questions you'd like covered in future episodes.
