Mima is a pop singer who has decided to chase a new career as an actress. Her manager and agent seem to have conflicting views about this move, where one seems reluctant and the other supportive. However, Mima's decision seems to not be turning out as she might have expected when her former band enters the charts with their new single, while her acting career puts her at odds with her own self image. In the middle of all of this, she finds a mysterious website where her deepest thoughts are published ... Join us as we discuss this great animated film! In addition to the plot, we discuss concepts from psychology, the struggle of adjusting to life under the limelights of real life celebrities, and personal experiences that relate to the content of the movie. As police investigate the site of a horrible and mysterious crime scene, they come across the body of an unknown young woman, whom they label as Jane Doe. The sheriff takes the body to Tommy and Austin, who are a father/son team acting as coroners in the small town. As Tommy and Austin proceed with the autopsy, things will take very dark and unsettling turns for them ... Join us as we discuss this great film! We discuss the plot and provide our insights as to what we thought was going on as each scene takes place. Mariah provided some very candid answers to some of the questions she was asked. But ... we also had a mysterious guest! We apparently experienced some paranormal activity while recording this episode. Hopefully Jane wasn't mad at us for talking about her ...

There was a lot to unwind with this one, and the topics we talked about could be sensitive to some listeners. Everything from the fears about parenthood, to the possible difficulties of dating someone with children, to the complexities of mental illness was covered, so grab on to your hats and push play!
Kate and John are a married couple about to have their third child. Unfortunately, the child is stillborn due to medical complications. Kate falls into depression, and, after going to therapy, talks John into adopting a child. They visit an orphanage and meet Esther, a seemingly very talented and polite girl. They decide to become her adoptive parents, but that would prove to be a fatal mistake, for there is something very wrong with Esther ... Join us as we discuss the plot of this very interesting film! In addition to that, we touch up on other topics, like the much dreaded "birds and the bees" conversation, the difficulties of balancing being a parent with being a regular human being, etc.
Sara and Alex are a young couple, and they have decided to leave city life behind them and move to the country. They believe this will help Sara and their baby, Liam, have more time to bond, since Sara has been experiencing post partum depression. The house they have decided to move into, however, has a dark past. Soon after they arrive, Sara starts to hear noises and have strange visions of the house's previous inhabitants. Things start to go missing from their home as well, which makes Alex worried ... Join us as we talk about this doozy of a film! While the topics and issues presented in here are very valid, the execution left a lot to be desired. Tune in so you can hear us talking about the plot, but also, about some strange personal experiences that mirror some of the scenes in the film!

He decides to develop a method called The Lesson, which, according to himself, is guaranteed to finally make him the internet sensation he has always wanted to be. Even if it comes at the cost of the lives of his Spree customers ... Join us for the discussion on this satire/critique of influencer culture! In addition to covering the main plot points, we also talk about real life topics and issues related to the movie. Sharon is the adopted daughter of Rose and Christopher. One night, she sleepwalks out of her home, and Rose catches up to her just before she falls into an abyss. Rose figures out that Silent Hill is an abandoned town, and she decides that the best course of action is to take Sharon there to understand why it is that the child is so obsessed with it. She was unaware, however, that the town had a dark history, and that her young daughter is only trying to go back home ... Join us as we discuss this videogame adaptation! While talking about the plot, we also talk about things that the movie scenes reminded us of. From the creepiness of the town and its inhabitants (both human and not), to comparisons to some of the game counterparts, this one is a banger of an episode!
Cady is a young girl who suffered the loss of her parents in a car accident. She was sent to live with her aunt Gemma, who is a very successful and independent woman. Even so, Gemma was completely unprepared to take care of her young niece. Between her new role as a guardian, the deadlines at work, her nosy neighbor with a hellhound for a pet, and the judgmental social worker assigned to oversee her interactions with Cady, things get unusually complicated for her. Gemma decides to complete the prototype of a new toy/robot so that Cady can have someone to play with, learn from, and to take care of her while she works. However, the situation takes a dark turn when M3GAN, the robot companion, starts to learn at an accelerated rate, and pretty soon, she starts to make her own decisions ... Join us as we talk about this very entertaining film! Besides talking about the plot, we also draw parallels to some of the concepts and elements presented or alluded to in the film, such as Attachment Theory, Assimov's Laws Of Robotics, the Uncanny Valley, and more! As a bonus, we share some brief creepy stories about our past experiences with rogue AI and dolls!

When a mysterious looking object in the clouds appears, Naru comes to believe that it is a sign for her to attempt a hunting ritual. What she didn't know was that a powerful extraterrestrial creature had landed in the area, and it was on a hunting expedition of its own. Will Naru be able to overcome this great challenge, or will she become the Prey for this monster? Join us as we discuss this great film! We cover some wacky topics for this one, including (but not limited to) the food chain, symbolism, and what the possible consequences of punching a bear in the face would be :P  We also discuss some of the lore of the Predator franchise and the significance of representation in film when it's done properly.

However, we had some not so positive opinions about this one, especially in the context of comparing it to the OG from the 80s :P What exactly were those opinions, you ask? Marybeth, one of the passengers, tells the others about the legend of Victor Crowley, and when he makes his appearance, they will have to fight for survival ... A mine worker finds something oozing from the ground, so, naturally, he eats it :) He decides that it's delicious, so the substance is packaged and sold as a treat. The ice cream companies, worried that this new snack will cut into their profits, hire Mo Rutherford to investigate what is now called The Stuff. Turns out that what seems to be a delicious treat is actually a living entity that is attempting to assimilate anyone and anything that consumes it. Mo allies himself with a motley crue of quirky characters, including a disgraced cookie tycoon, the woman in charge of the advertising campaign for The Stuff, a runaway child, and even a fringe military group, to stop The Stuff from spreading further. Will their efforts be enough, or will everyone become a slave of The Stuff? Join us as we talk about this wacky 80s film! When discussing the movie, we tie it in to real life advertising campaigns, corporate urban legends, video rental store memories, and even black market purchases. Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald are two teenage sisters growing up in the suburbs. They are disenchanted with life and seem to have a rather morbid fixation on death. Everything in their lives starts to change after Ginger is attacked by an unknown creature one night. After the attack, Brigitte notices how her sister starts to act very differently, and her physical appearance is also not the same anymore. She enlists the help of Sam, a local botanist dude, to see if they can figure out a way to help Ginger before it's too late for her ... And we're back! We've been away for several weeks, but we're ready to jump right into things! We talked about how scenes from the movie remind us of things that we all went through at some point or another in our lives. Puberty, a sense of not belonging, what it's like to lose a loved one, and society in the years before 2001 were among the topics we covered. We did experience some technical difficulties making this episode, so we'd like to apologize for that.

The catch is, The Devil has to find her before the millennium ends, otherwise, his plan will be foiled. Enter Jericho Cane, a disgraced police officer who lost his wife and daughter some time ago. Arming himself with an arsenal bigger than that of most small countries, he decides to protect Christine from the destiny that was thrust upon her. Will he be able to stop the Devil with the power of love/machine guns/grenade launchers, or will Satan get his way? In the first segment, Chuy briefly goes over the technical/behind the scenes stuff of the movie, such as its budget and cast. Frankie is enjoying her life as a 20-something in the late 1990s. One day, her mother, who is on vacation in Brazil, sends her a rather unique souvenir. After receiving the gift, Frankie starts to act strangely and to experience bizarre phenomena. The most striking is the presence of the stigmata, which are, according to the Catholic teachings, the wounds that Jesus Christ received at the time of his crucifixion.  A priest named Andrew Kiernan becomes involved when he is sent to investigate her case by his superiors in the Vatican. Will they be able to figure out why Frankie, a self confessed atheist, is receiving the wounds that are only given to the most devout believers? Join us as we talk about this film from the apocalyptic year of 1999! Chuy goes over some of the religious themes and production details in his segment. Then, Mariah jumps into the discussion and offers her own point of view and opinions.
Mary is a student at medical school that is struggling to make ends meet. In spite of being one of the better pupils, her finances are holding her back. After a fateful night in which she tries to get a job at a strip club, she becomes a sort of urban legend for a very niche community. Then, something terrible happens to her, and we see her character change drastically as a result ... Join us as we cover this dark revenge drama! In this episode, we had to do things a bit differently, so we'll only feature the segment in which Mariah joins in to discuss the plot, the themes, and the character development of Mary throughout the film.
Steven Price is an amusement park owner who is unhappily married to Evelyn. She becomes enamored with an old house that was once an asylum after seeing it on a TV show. Price agrees to rent the house for her birthday celebration, but he's planning something wicked for her. Once they get to the house, they find out that the invitations were sent to complete strangers. Price offers one million dollars to each guest that stays in the house the whole night, but after they are mysteriously locked in, they will all find that they are in for way more than they had bargained for ... Join us as we talk about this 90s time capsule! Chuy goes over the plot and technical/behind the scenes stuff in the first segment, and then Mariah joins the conversation to share her insights and whether she would agree to live in a place that is infamous like the house in the movie.

Kayla talks to us about the mystery of the Isdal Woman, which is about the mysterious way that a very eccentric woman was found dead in Norway several years ago. Chuy then talks about the history of the mummy museum in Guanajuato, Mexico, where there are over 100 preserved bodies for people to visit. Finally, Mariah shares some information about how the movie the Ring could be connected to both a Japanese folk legend from the 1300s and to the strange case of a Japanese doll which has hair that grows and teeth.

We are thrilled to announce that we had the pleasure of being joined by Bridget, The Girl Behind The Counter! She helps us discuss the important scenes, the somewhat lackluster plot, the sexual themes of the film, and, perhaps most importantly, the timeless sexiness of David Cronenberg ;) For the second part of the episode, Mariah joins in and gives her own impressions, and she explains why she was reminded of Mexican telenovelas while watching the movie :P
