Norlander's in Portland covering the Phil Knight tournaments, and so the guys spend the first bit talking about how unimpressive UNC and Duke have been to start the season. Then a tour through Thursday's PK85 results before moving on to Arizona. Is Tommy Lloyd's team better than they were last season despite losing three players to the draft? A speed Final Four And 1 wraps the show, with four Friday tilts highlighted. »Eye on College Basketball is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts.    »Follow our team: @EyeonCBBPodcast @GaryParrishCBS @MattNorlander @Kyle_Boone @DavidWCobb @NataTheScribe   »You can listen to us on your smart speakers! Gonzaga refuses to get punked, but how ticked off should Kentucky fans be with John Calipari? The guys also talk Virginia and Maryland as the two biggest winners of the weekend, and get into Baylor, UCLA, Illinois, Michigan State and plenty more. We've got a long Sunday night episode for you, which also includes predictions and a preview of the Maui Invitational and a story out of New Mexico that is tragic, strange and unresolved. Texas had its way with Gonzaga on Wednesday, but Norlander and Parrish are waiting until Sunday's big game with Kentucky before making any larger statements about Gonzaga. Still: What an encouraging W for Texas, which should be in the thick of the Big 12 chase. Elsewhere: Arizona State made Hunter Dickinson look foolish and Michigan even worse. The back end of the pod is beefed up with Final Four And 1 picks for the weekend, led by a great batch of ranked matchups going down on Friday night. Those Champions Classic games were awesome, right?! Gary and Matt break down the Michigan State 2OT upset of No. 4 Kentucky. Plus, GP ranks Sparty in a spot you wouldn't believe! In the nightcap, Kansas' veteran leadership shined in its four-point victory over the Blue Devils. The guys tells you why would should be encouraged for both teams. Elsewhere, the ACC and Pac-12 are, well, a lot of teams have taken awful losses. Tuesday night was by far the best night of the young season so far, and so we had to get a special late-night recording in so you'd have it in time for Wednesday morning. The first weekend of the college basketball season is done. So, what did we learn? Well, Gonzaga can win on an aircraft carrier, for one. (Michigan State is now 0-2 on huge ships.) Parrish and Norlander open on Friday night's big game, then turn their attention to Emoni Bates' huge game and near-win against Michigan. Three ranked teams were unseated over the weekend, too. Which was the most concerning: Nova falling to Temple, Oregon losing to UC Irvine or Tennessee getting run by Colorado? Norlander also has a whiparound of notable results, including some love for the SWAC. The guys close with a preview of Tuesday's slate, led by the Champions Classic. Bellarmine upset Louisville; are there more warning signs for Kenny Payne? Plus, Gary and Matt debate the top 25 coaches in the sport (we welcome your feedback; contact the show at the email address below). The first weekend of the season isn't overloaded with tasty matchups, but we've still got plenty to talk about, including the debut of the Final Four And 1 picks for '22-23. Open: Bellarmine! Let's talk about the first two days of the season. Largely duds, right? What's that about? Norlander has some more background to know, while Parrish lays out the practical items that have to be prioritized in seasons moving forward. Beyond that, the guys get into the teams that did face embarrassing upsets and the ones who narrowly escaped. There's also a good Trivia Time! baked into the episode near the end. We finally made it. The season is here! Thank you, as always, for listening. We've got a treat for you on this season-opening show: the one and only Leaky Black is here. From taking us inside the UNC locker room, to the Duke shade he tosses, to reflections on last year's run, we think you'll enjoy this rare EOCBB interview. But before Parrish and Norlander talk to Leaky, the guys set the table with their Final Four + title picks, share their All-America teams, and make a variety of observations and predictions about the weeks and months ahead. The college basketball news machine is working fast and furious ahead of Monday's season-openers. First, Louisville's IARP case is in — and there's nothing much to the punishment. Should that give schools like Kansas, Arizona and LSU hope in their IARP cases? Matt Norlander and Gary Parrish discuss. Additionally, Kansas announced a four-game suspension to start the season for Bill Self (and other punishments). Where does this put KU going into 2023? And another big headline: Gonzaga's AD recently met with the Big 12 commissioner. But Norlander explains why that doesn't mean a merger is imminent. The guys lay out Gonzaga's case for being in the Big 12, Pac-12, Big East ... and maybe just staying put in the WCC. We're wrapping our conference-preview portion of the preseason with a wide scan of all the best teams from outside the seven major conferences. Obviously, Gonzaga is the big (bull)dog, but there are two other preseason top 25-level teams worth knowing about: San Diego State and Dayton. Norlander and Parrish go well beyond those three, though, highlighting the teams with viable at-large hopes and laying out nearly 20 other mid-majors poised to have good seasons in '22-23. The bonus: we've got a this-or-that Halloween candy-themed segment to wrap today's episode. Read Norlander's Best of the Rest preview here. Shake Shack or Chick-Fil-A? Of course it's our SEC preview. And you need to answer that question. The favorites reside in Lexington but will have a multitude of challengers coming for the throne. Will the revamped roster in Arkansas or the Knoxville faithful make a deep run? Parrish sets the over/under 6.5 teams making the NCAA Tournament. Our longest conference preview pod yet, with a few unexpected tangents toss in. Plus: Norlander's top 101 teams in college casketball. The Pac-12 will be won by UCLA, or so say Parrish and Norlander. Arizona is a clear No. 2, followed by Oregon and then USC. After that ... it's a foggy mess. The Big East might be the strongest it's been in YEARS. And with that comes expectations, namely: Can Creighton emerge from the intense four-team race atop the league and win the conference? Or will Villanova, UConn or Xavier spoil the Bluejays' big season ahead?
