In this Veterans Month interview on Midday Mobile, host Sean Sullivan sits down with Army veteran Keith Goodman for a heartfelt and often funny conversation about his journey from high school ROTC to serving in Afghanistan. Keith shares stories from boot camp at Fort Benning, his time with the legendary “Rakkasans,” and what it was like deploying with Special Operations teams as a mechanic and driver.
From learning life lessons in the Army to building community among veterans here in South Alabama, Keith’s story is both inspiring and down-to-earth. It’s a powerful reminder of why service matters — and how one man’s willingness to say “Here am I, send me” can make all the difference.

Scams, Sales, and Holiday Shopping with the Better Business Bureau
In this episode of Mobile Mornings, Dalton welcomes longtime friend Evie Owen, Vice President of the South Alabama Better Business Bureau (BBB), for a timely conversation heading into the busiest shopping week of the year. With Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday right around the corner, Evie breaks down the latest scams, how scammers are targeting holiday shoppers, and the simple steps you can take to protect yourself online and in-store.
Evie explains how social media ads can trick even savvy shoppers, why “too good to be true” deals usually are, and how to safely navigate trending toy searches—yes, including that new Nintendo Switch 2. You’ll learn how to verify websites, what to check before clicking “Buy Now,” the importance of tracking your packages, and why opening deliveries right away matters more than you think.
She also sheds light on what BBB accreditation really means, how the BBB vets businesses, and how tools like BBB ScamTracker can help you avoid becoming the next victim. Whether you're looking for holiday deals or trying to stay one step ahead of scammers, this episode is packed with practical, easy-to-use tips.

🎙️ Veteran Interview Spotlight: Major General Janet Cobb
In this Veterans Month edition of Midday Mobile, Sean Sullivan sits down with a true local legend and longtime friend—Major General Janet Cobb. Fresh into retirement after serving as Executive Director of Battleship Memorial Park, Cobb reflects on life after decades of service, her unlikely path from Foley High School to becoming one of the Army’s trailblazing women, and the family and mentors who shaped her career.
She shares remarkable stories from her time in uniform—from her early days as a member of the Women’s Army Corps to her leadership roles supporting major military operations in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. One of the most moving parts of the conversation is Cobb’s deep connection to military working dogs. She recounts her first encounters with explosive detection dogs overseas, the history behind the Alabama War Dog Memorial at Battleship Park, and the emotional 2018 burial of Hank—an adopted combat working dog and the only animal ever laid to rest on the grounds.
This interview is filled with history, heart, humor, and powerful reminders of service and sacrifice—both human and canine.
