Description

I’ve seen bad things and met bad people. That happens after 20 years in the FBI, 10 years as a Psychiatric Nurse and another decade reporting on crime with Investigation Discovery. On FACING EVIL, I sit face-to-face with killers trying to understand what makes them do it, so others might avoid the same mistakes.

Dawn Silvernail shot and killed an innocent woman as she left church on a cold fall night. It was at point blank range, gangland - style. Yet Dawn seemed the most unlikely executioner. She was your average mom living a quiet life in Earton NY. Or so her husband thought. Candice discovers Dawn had a second life that could have been ripped from an airport bookstand – a story of sex, money and murder.
Episode 5 - Cindy White

Episode 5 - Cindy White

2015-11-0621:2612

Cindy White was a live-in nanny to four gorgeous children. Then, one New Years Eve, she burnt their house down with everyone inside. The parents died along with the children. Cindy is found guilty on six counts of murder. She appears to be a monster, but as Candice discovers, the real monster has been kept secret for 20 years.
Episode 4 - Cliff Youens

Episode 4 - Cliff Youens

2015-10-3022:3113

Cliff Youens was not what he seemed. He lived a double-life – one as man and one as a woman. And not just any woman. By night Cliff’s female character was a renown Texan entertainer. By day he was a mild-mannered man eager to settle down and start a family. So how did he end up a killer? Candice sets out to discover who is the real Cliff Youens.
Jennifer Reali says she was under the spell of a religious man when she shot his wife dead. At the time she believed murder was a lesser sin than adultery. It sounds like crazy talk but Jennifer is not mentally ill. How can a rational person think taking a life is better than cheating? The answer is shocking.
Episode 2 - Tyra Whitney

Episode 2 - Tyra Whitney

2015-10-1621:2917

Tyra Whitney says she was protecting her own, when she drove a hammer into the skull of her daughter’s boyfriend. She pleaded a ‘momma bear’ defense, but a jury called her a murderer. Tyra speaks openly to Candice about her crime and events leading up to it. She also has strong advice for all mothers and daughters.
Alexandra Tobias was portrayed as a negligent 22-year-old mom, so caught up in online gaming that she murdered her three-month-old son because he was a distraction. How could anyone really do such a thing? Candice goes behind the headlines and prison walls to find out. Serving a 50-year sentence, Alex is still a young woman, with a lot on her mind.

Compassion? Yes, I can believe it. Terminal illness.

glad to get closer to the truth. with due respect I don't understand how Candace can know about monsters like these people, and the Wests, and not believe in monsters.

I feel so desperately sorry for both, they were failed by the people that were supposed to protect them and help them. I don't think Alexandra is an evil person, I think she's human. Who knows how she might have ended up, if not for the trauma she experienced as a child. Just heartbreaking for everyone involved.

Cindy White. OMG, this is so heartbreaking and horrible. To have been victimized by so many, and to have felt that this was her only way out...

This leaves a ton of unanswered questions - what's her relationship with her daughter like now? Who was screaming on the recording? What happened in the trial? This is interesting to listen to, but more simplistic than I expected.

I'm sadly disappointed. Candice's monologue sounded almost robotic....she does much better on I.D., oh well...on to the next pod adventure!
