The ratification of the 17th Amendment to the Constitution, another progressive era feat, destroyed what the founders intended the Senate to be, which was to represent the interests of the States in a balance of power of with the People and prior to that time, the restrained Federal gubmit. It's not a 100% win for Trump if a judge rules that J6 was an insurrection and he engaged in it. Trump should appeal that ruling, especially the ruling that he engaged in insurrection. I don't know if he can appeal a ruling that an insurrection happened, but he should try.
