The 49ers win and Kate arrives at the New Year’s Eve party at Skanky’s after being thrown in jail, looking like something the cat dragged through the back alley. The bonus race ends at midnight and she has to figure out what she is doing with Pedro—and her marriage.
Kate heads to the big game on New Year’s Eve but Peter gets in her way. Will she get to Pedro before the other guys sign him?
Sandy moves into the firehouse and Kate prepares to close the deal with Pedro. She’s accepted his offer to attend the 49ers New Year’s Eve party with him.
Kate’s husband, Sandy. packs his bags for the firehouse and Kate goes to see caped therapist Axel Staperfene. When Kate delivers Pedro’s new car to the 49ers training camp, Pedro asks some tough questions.
Kate’s mother, Virginia, arrives in San Francisco with her new boyfriend just in time for Christmas at Kate’s house. Kate and Virginia meet Pedro and his friend at midnight mass at Pedro’s church on Christmas Eve. Has Kate gone too far? Kate’s mother has strong opinions about Kate’s marriage.
Even though she suspects a setup, Kate drives across the Golden Gate Bridge to see firm rival and megalo-agent Randy Nester. He’s invited her to pitch to his clients on Christmas Eve, and she gets a surprise. She’s actually considering adopting Pedro for the holidays, the way her mother had once adopted an Air Force lieutenant stationed in Spokane when Kate was in high school.
Kate’s husband, Sandy, sets the bathroom on fire—and Kate is really starting to wonder about his obsession with fire in terms of his fireman quest. Pyromania comes to mind—and in a way it’s reassuring—better pyromania than he wants to get away from her! She’s starting to crack from the pressure—her husband is leaving, no more paycheck from the law firm--and she still hasn’t landed superjock Pedro.
The day of Sandy’s firefighter exam, Kate catches Sandy in a small lie and wonders what else he’s lying about. Pedro asks Kate to find him a car and is coming on strong, while Kate tries to walk the line of respectable client relations. She vows never to see Peter’s therapist again after she feels personally interrogated. Fortunately she runs into another possible therapist for Peter.
Kate interviews a therapist for Pedro and inadvertently gets sucked into treatment herself. Peter tries intimidating Kate to get her out of the bonus race. Kate’s dinner meeting with Pedro is more than that she bargains for.
Domestic tensions rise when Sandy hires a 20-year Irish personal trainer to get him in shape. Kate’s boss tells her that she’s not in the bonus race, but Kate still has her dinner meeting coming up with Pedro. Kate intercepts a call from megalo-agent and firm rival, Randy Nester, and signs up to give a marketing presentation to his clients on Christmas Eve. She finally tells Peter that their boss wants him to see a shrink.
Kate’s colleague J.P., who intends to win the bonus race one way or another, is still rubbing it in about Kate’s missed meeting with Pedro, but Kate gets another shot when she literally runs into the prospect at their office.
With Kate’s husband, Sandy, getting ready to move into the Mission District Firehouse, Kate has a list to discuss at their annual marital summit. Kate tells Sandy that she feels that he’s trying to leave her.
Kate’s colleague, Peter, has gotten the firm in hot water by assaulting megalo-agent and firm rival, Randy Nester. Riding high on her success with Pinto’s urine test, Kate gets up her courage to call Pedro. She gets the meeting but domestic problems get in the way.
Kate arrives unannounced at an athlete’s bodyguard’s apartment to convince him to go to a urine test, and stumbles on a lead to the elusive superstar, Pedro.
Kate McCabe, CFO of a San Francisco firm, which manages the affairs of professional athletes, arrives at the office to the athletes already calling for their money. We meet her all-male colleagues at a meeting, where Kate is obviously a fish-out of water. Her boss is offering a big bonus to the “man” who lands hot-ticket wide receiver, Pedro Araguz, a.k.a “The Latin Lover.” Kate intends to compete, even uninvited. She’d like to be one of the boys and she needs the money—her husband has announced that he’s leaving his lawyer job to become firefighter.
