How the Body and Nervous System Protect our Kids

Have you ever said your child, “Don’t yell at your brother!” What’s happening in a child’s body filled with anger is louder than what’s going on in their brain. As Christi says in this episode, “Our body sends 10 messages to our brain for every 1 our brain sends to our body.” This is why lecturing an overwhelmed child often feels useless. In other words, our body speaks louder than our brain. So why have we stopped listening to the body? What’s actually going in our child’s body in their anger? What’s happening on our body in our anger? And why, for our children, is loving touch the most powerful way for the body to know “felt safety?”As we close out season 6 on Relational Intelligence in Kids, Christi answers these questions and shares why the body protects our children anytime there is a threat to their connection, belonging, safety, and dignity. She also explains how we as parents can help our kids restore felt safety and why these principles will be an integral part of KidsRQ.Time Stamps:0:00 KidsRQ and body-based tools3:00 Why the body matters for healing5:20 The tripartite God and what it means for us created in His image9:12 How the nervous system and emotions protect children17:47 Relating to our kids on earth as in heaven21:52 Moving emotion through your body25:27 Ways to learn this through Famous at Home Show Notes: Sign up for a free trial of KidsRQ! https://www.kidsrq.com Join KidsRQ at the Founding Members rate: https://www.kidsrq.com Interested in Tender & Fierce? Raising Kids Outside the Matrix

Make no mistake, we live in a matrix. And the bar set by Western culture for raising children is deceptively low. As parents, we do everything we can to give our kids an advantage. But is more parenting “knowledge“ really what we need? Are child outcomes really better today than they were 10 to 20 years ago? In this episode, we continue season 6 on Relational Intelligence in Kids by offering a new, yet ancient, paradigm for raising our children -- a paradigm that removes shame, grants God-given purpose, and breaks us free from the matrix.  Time Stamps:0:00 Introduction1:13 What is the bar we’re setting for our kids?3:02 Is more parenting “knowledge” really what we’re missing?8:00 What makes KidsRQ unique11:43 Why thinking, feeling, and relating at the same time is where growth happens14:50 A vision for kids beyond the Western matrix18:20 Raising “living letters” to the world25:00 How life and fruit can grow from our emotions Show Notes:Sign up for a free trial of KidsRQ! https://www.kidsrq.com Join KidsRQ at the Founding Members rate: https://www.kidsrq.com If you’re interested in a marriage you love, fill out this form: https://www.famousathome.com/loveyourmarriage Download NONAH's single Find My Way Home by clicking here: https://bellpartners.ffm.to/findmywayhome

Relational Joy: Why You Need It and How to Grow It

Think about the deep neurobiological connection happening in your brain as you walk into a room and encounter someone who lights up at your presence, and the fulfilling sensation of knowing that person is beaming from the inside out with only one message, “I am so glad to be with YOU!” Without relational joy, there is no relational intelligence. Instead, relational joy is the antidote to the numbing out of our hurried lives because you walk around with a sense of knowing you are seen and loved. As we continue season 5 on relational intelligence, Josh provides what he calls the “JOY STARTS framework”—four principles and corresponding practices spelling the word JOYS to jumpstart relational joy in your life and in the lives of those around you. Time Stamps:0:00 Introduction & Review of Season 54:54 Moving from self-protection to experience life-giving relationships6:27 How our senses are tied to relational joy11:38 What relational joy feels like13:11 Introduction to the JOYS STARTS Framework13:50 Joy is found in the face - practices that increase facial delight21:40 Our brains are built for connection - practices for sharing joyful moments25:02 You return to joy, not just peace - practices for redeemed conflict resolution and resilience30:51 Set rhythms of joy - practices for daily joy rituals33:32 Practices for building relational joy in a screen-saturated worldShow Notes: If you’re interested in a marriage you love, fill out this form: https://www.famousathome.com/loveyourmarriage Register now for the Tender & Fierce Fall Cohort: https://www.famousathome.com/offers/dDt2Aobj/checkout Download NONAH's single Find My Way Home by clicking here: https://bellpartners.ffm.to/findmywayhome

Experiencing Jesus with John Eldredge

As we continue our series on “The People Who Shape Us,” John Eldredge joins us. He is someone who has shaped how we pray and ultimately how we relate with Jesus ourselves. He’s been a mentor and spiritual father to many, and has significantly shaped how we lead even our children to experience Jesus for themselves. In the beautiful, kind words of a spiritual father, John shares stories about how he healed while raising his own kids, and what that healing did for how he started to relate to and experience the love of Abba in his own life. He also describes his own spiritual journey as having walked through what he calls “wardrobe doors,” a nod to C.S. Lewis’ pathway into Narnia.  He also shares how to find the people who can shape you in your pursuit and experience of Jesus. Hello! I just found out about this podcast series about a month ago and have lesten to a few of them and I just want to say thank you for taking the time to do these. This one I have had my eye on to listen too when the time came. And then this morning my wife was talking about the chnges in our lives and having three you kids and just busyness, and feeling that her friends have slipped away and it is a struggle to find those who you connect with. I can't wait to share this with her! Also, I have been sruggling myself with everything Josh says at the end about male friendships and feeling like there is no time and, yes, even guilt. This has given me a lot to chew on and I appreciate you sharing with us! Thanks again! -Brian
