Baby Reindeer dropped on Netflix in April 2024 and its all anyone is talking about. Written and starring Richard Gadd as we follow Donny try to stop their stalker while also coming to terms with their own victimhood is a hard watch. Jessica Gunning plays Martha, Donny's stalker, and I know for me my heart sank when I saw yet another plus size person be the perpetrator of obsession - but in watching it we see this is a much more nuanced take on a complex villain, played phenomenally by Gunning. Yellowjackets is one of the most exciting shows right now following 2 timelines, 1 set in the 90s where a teenage girls football team has crashed in the wilderness and they need to fight for their survival. Another in present day where a few of the survivors are trying to navigate their lives post wilderness. The series got a lot of attention for casting 90s legends, Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci as well as casting Melanie Lynskey a regular sized woman - cue hateful comments on twitter. My guest, creator and host of the Talking Hitch Podcast and Assistant Editor of Ghouls Magazine, Rebecca McCallum, dove head first into the character of Annie Wilkes (played by the tremendous Kathy Bates) as the iconic Stephen King villain.
