Description

Amanda, Dave, and Nick have watched a lot of movies. Probably more than is healthy. But there are plenty of movies they haven't seen. Every episode we review a movie that at least one of our hosts has seen for the very first time.

Nick had never seen Bong Joon Ho’s 2019 best picture winner, Parasite. That glaring omission was rectified and the gang discussed the film’s themes of love, class, and con artistry. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6751668/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/parasite_2019
Do you want a love triangle between Frank-N-Furter, Maverick, and Sloane Peterson that takes place in an enchanted forest full of glitter, ogres, strange clocks and not a lot of character development? Then you want Legend! Nick and Dave once again get to visit Amanda’s childhood in watching Ridley Scott’s 1985 foray into fantasy and pie making. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089469/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3_tt_8_nm_0_q_legend https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1012164-legend
Amanda had never watched Robert Zemeckis’ live action-animation hybrid, Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Along with Amanda’s discovery of such great jokes such as, “nice booby trap”, Nick and Dave found themselves discovering layers to the film that they didn’t notice while watching as children. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096438/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_who%2520fram https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/who_framed_roger_rabbit
Throw together Jeff Daniels, Melanie Griffith, Ray Liotta, Jonathan Demme, and the 80’s and you are going to get Something Wild. Nick and Amanda have never seen it, and Dave has a strange fondness to this meet crazy story. If you watch it, keep an eye out for John Waters. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091983/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/something_wild
At Amanda’s choosing, Nick and Dave watched the 1982 animated film, The Last Unicorn. They discuss the beautiful animation, montages, and the unusual amount of breasts in a children’s movie. #morepiratecat https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084237/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_7_nm_0_q_the%2520last%2520unicorn https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/last_unicorn
Dave and Amanda had never watched Stanley Kubrick’s 1964 comedy, Dr. Strangelove. They discuss bodily fluids, cowboy hats, weird names, and insulation. We still aren’t sure Amanda watched the movie. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057012/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_Dr.%2520Strangelove https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dr_strangelove
The gang discuss David Lynch’s 2001 film about Hollywood, Love, and Mole People(?), Mulholland Drive. Amanda and Nick had never seen this film, and they definitely have thoughts. What’s in the pod!? What’s in the pod!? Somehow, Nick had never watched David Fincher’s very wet 1995 serial killer film, Se7en. This marks the first time we review a film that is in someone’s top five of all time. I’m sure there were no hurt feelings. And I’m sure we all loved Brad Pitt’s acting. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114369/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/seven
In the very first episode of Films Like The First Time, Nick, Amanda, and Dave discuss Frank Capra's 1946 classic, It's A Wonderful Life.
