Happy December you troglodytes! Christmas is in the air as the holiday season is finally upon us! Today, these three wise men talk about one of the best movies of the last couple years, Alexander Payne's "The Holdovers" - and much like a lot of families that get together over the holidays, Chris does his best to keep things on track as Mikey and Dave yell at each other....Tis the season!
Sure, it's almost Thanksgiving, but Mikey is finally able to get their latest episode up that is in honor of our most recent Veterans Day as he, Chris, and Dave talk about the 1986 Oliver Stone Vietnam War classic, Platoon.
A movie Chris and Dave have loved for years and Mikey finally watched for the first time 48 hours prior to recording this. So happy Veterans Day - and happy Thanksgiving. And before you know it, Christmas will be in the air...
Happy Halloween, everybody!! Yes we are back with ANOTHER episode this week as we close out Spooky Season with one more movie. A classic. THE classic. One of the greatest movies of all time, Psycho. So finish up taking the kids trick-or-treating, go home, put on a nice warm shower and listen as Chris, Mikey and Dave go a little mad....
Happy Halloween Week movie fans! Today's entry into our our Spooky Season comes a little later than expected. Mikey ended up having his gallbladder out last Friday, and Chris and David spent all weekend pestering his wife, texting her and showing up at their house to ask if he's well enough to edit the podcast and get it out by today.
Well fair podcast listeners, he has disregarded doctor's orders and sat at his desk getting everything ready for you. He is weary now and must rest, but he sure hopes you enjoy this episode as the boys talk about the 1974 horror classic, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
And we're not done with Spooky Season yet...See you soon.
We think of life like the seasons, and for "Fine Movies. Fine Spirits." we are fully into our Spooky Season! And as we think of our show as a community of movie lovers, we welcome Jack to this podcasting family, a young man who is a legacy member of the show, following in the fine footsteps of his mother.
Hopefully, we didn't freak Jack out too much - unlike the folks visiting a community in the movie we are talking about in this episode - the 2019 Ari Aster mind-F of a movie, Midsommar.
You ever feel the prickly things on the back of your neck? And the tiny hairs on your arm, you know when they stand up? That's us That’s this podcast - and tonight this podcast is inching ever so closer to spooky season - though we’re not officially there quite yet - as Chris, Mikey and Dave talk about the The M. Night Shaymalan classic thriller, celebrating it’s 25 anniversary - the Sixth Sense.
Spoiler alert: Dave was alive the entire time we recorded.
You don't get it, do you? This isn't "good cop, bad cop." This is podcaster and podcaster. And podcaster. Yes your three favorite voices are back again to talk about the 2005 modern film noir from Shane Black, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang starring Pre-Iron Man Robert Downey, Jr. and Post-Batman Val Kilmer.
Chris is gonna hate that Mikey added the superhero stuff...
Happy September movie fans! The boys are back with their porniest movie yet as they cover Paul Thomas Anderson's ode to cinema, Boogie Nights. Keep your pants on and your ears open as Chris, Mikey, and Dave go deep....on this pretty epic film.
Listen to this podcast if you want to live. Don't believe us? Give it a try! Are you listening to Dave, Chris and Mikey talk about Terminator 2: Judgment Day? Are you still alive? See - told you...
Excuse us while we whip out this brand new episode starring our beloved heroes, Chris, Dave, and Mikey! Today we are going back to 1974, when gas was $0.53, when David was born into this world, and when Mel Brooks gave us the first of two classics that same year, Blazing Saddles.
So if you're wondering where the white podcasters at, know they are all here talking this comedy classic and including some classic clips, while also smartly not including some classic clips...
The boys are back in town! That's right podcast listeners, Chris, Dave and Mikey are back with our first ever Eddie Murphy fine movie! We go back to his beginnings in the classic team up with Nick Nolte, 48 Hrs. A movie so good, Dave decided to record this one indoors!
It's time for a new episode of Podcast. I'm sorry, I mean De Podcast. Yes, Brian's favorite podcast is back with a new episode covering another Mads Mikkelsen Danish film - so get ready for no clips, and Dave talking on his phone in public. We pride ourselves on talking great movies and 2/3 of us giving you great audio to listen to. We've nailed it again.
You can watch this fine movie right now on Hulu!
If you listeners leave this podcast, if you survive listening, you will be a weapon. You will be a minister of death praying for war. But until that day, you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. Wait, that doesn't seem like a good approach to attracting listeners. Unless it worked, then it is. Either way, the three recruits of this podcast, Chris, Dave and Mikey are back talking Stanley Kubrick as we discuss the 1987 Vietnam War film, Full Metal Jacket.
And remember - this is our podcast. There are many others like it, but this one is ours....you pukes!
Some priests say that shame is God telling you what you did was wrong. Well, imagine the shame you'll be feeling if you don't listen to this episode. Chris, Mikey and Dave are back talking about the 2007 Ben Affleck directed, Casey Affleck starring, Gone Baby Gone. This discussion got Chris to talk about how much he loves the Dennis Lehane books, Mikey to talk about the time he met Dennis Lehane and how he wants to start reading the books, and Dave to maybe focus a little harder when we talk about what movie we're doing next. So make yourself a martini and enjoy...
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. However, the pod of the righteous man gets the usual trio of Chris, Mikey and Dave to talk about the 1994 Quentin Tarantino classic, Pulp Fiction. And this time around, Chris is truly his brother's keeper, as he invited baby bro Greg back on the show! So, pretty please… with sugar on top. Listen to this f****g episode.
Folks, they've been doing this podcast for almost 70 episodes. They're no dummies. They are just here to give you inspiring from three men who know - how to podcast. Yes, Chris, Mikey & Dave are back in 1985 for the second episode in a row as they discuss the Savage Steve Holland cult classic, "Better Off Dead." So, buck up little camper, we'll get through this podcast....together.
Great Scott! There's been a balance brought to the space-time continuum as the Chris, Mikey & Dave from "Fine Movies. Fine Spirits" are back to talk about the 1985 Robert Zemeckis classic, "Back to the Future." And while that alone is pretty heavy, it is also coinciding with year four of Mikey's month long Back to the Future celebration, Marchy McFly. The stars truly are aligned on this one. So why don't you make like a tree - and listen.
There are seven deadly sins. But, there is only one deadly podcast. The boys are back and killing it (get it) once again as Chris, Mikey & Dave talk about the 1995 David Fincher rom-com "Se7en". What they've done in this episode is going to be puzzled over and studied and followed - forever.
