This week the club is sans Vargas, but the show must go on! Greg and Mike chop it up about the Captain America McDonalds toys, and decide wether we're hyped or not for it. Next we mention Nick Cage's Spider-Man Noir coming to TV... Then... FINALLY! It's time for those sweet sweet reads the title of the show promised. We discuss the new Spawn universe mini-series Monolith, The Doom one-shot by Sanford Greene & Jonathan Hickman, a cool new dark fantasy on Darkhorse called Heart Piercer, and then Greg catches us up on a few more comics we missed last week while covering C2E2, which includes a book he was particularly hyped on, called Mugshots out on Mad Cave.  Join us on the Patreon for more C2E2 talk, and some convos around purchasing original art.
Today the club discusses our experiences at Chicagos premiere comicon C2E2! The club got the full con experience including: Attending panels, being part of a panel, shopping, meeting creators, commissions, exclusive, and it wouldn't be complete without one of us getting sick once its all done.  Check the show out on Youtube this week if you wanna see our Show n' Tell, but we'll do our best to describe our treasures so its fun for followers who refuse to look at us (We don't blame ya!)
CON CRUD!!! It's taken one of our own this time. Seems we brought something home with us from Chicago and we're not talking memories. Mike D is at home fighting for the will to live so Greg and Vargas carry on as strong little soldiers in his absence.  So for this episode they've decided to flip the script and try something new. While you'll still get great comic book news updates and first issue reviews, the Noize Bois have chosen to add a preview of a Patreon exclusive show at the end. 007th Club is the Patreon show dedicated to the Dynamite series of James Bond comic books. Greg and Vargas explore the series and other James Bond related content to get Greg cultured and into the 21st century. The books we cover are: The Whisper Queen, Get Fury, Bloodhunt, The Dragon Trade and Dick Tracy. All fantastic books that can be found at your LCS and digitally. If you're interested in MORE First Issue Club make sure to check out Patreon.com/FirstIssueClub as well as all our social media accounts. Remember to be kind and welcoming to new readers and have a fantastic FCBD!!!

Ghost Machine / Chipmike

Ghost Machine / Chipmike

This week, Greg and Andy record without me (mike d), but I might make a weeney surprise appearance. What did they talk about? You're guess is as good as mine, I JUST SAID I WASN'T THERE!!! I did hear a little about Red Coat, thus your generic Ghost Machine imprint in the title. It was a big week for them. Next week looks to be light on firsties so we might have a special subject then... We'll find out, and the next meeting of the club of ones!
This week, we're talking comic book news and covering FOUR comics. Our topics include: The Thunderbolts Asterix, How lucky Marvel is to have casted Florence Pugh when they did, Bleeding Cools "Big Vague Article" claiming massive industry news is coming soon, a Joker graphic novel coming out featuring stories from around the globe, DC Elseworld reprints inbound, & X-Men books popping up in value due to X-Men 97 (cartoon) hype.  For our comics, Feral is a cat based comic from the team who brought you the indie hit Stray Dogs, Morning Star is shaping up to be an eerie family thriller out on Mad Cave, Bad Girls 1 is kind of misleading as a first issue (You should view it as a Local Man Annual), and Eric Powell's Goon returns for a new four part mini-series called "Them That Don't Stay Dead".
This week, we decided to do the same thing we do every week: Talk about first issues and comic book news! From the headlines, we'll get into X-Men 97 reception, Eight Billion Genies getting high profile MOVIE producers, the newly announced Marvel 1943 video game, and job listings for AI artists at comic book publishers.  For our reading club portion, Greg discusses Ram V's Dawnrunner, and DC Comics Ape-ril special. Then Vargas walks us through Takashi Okazaki's Star Wars Vision issue featuring The Ronin and The Droid, Man's Best out on Boom!, and Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance.  If ya want more, we've got a 007 episode up on the patreon this week, and in our upcoming regular release we play some trivia.
This week we're talking about 5 first issues, and they're all great! Listen to find out more about Napalm Lullaby, Helen of Wyndhorn, I Heart Skull Crusher, Little Black Book, & Black Widow and Hawkeye.  In this episode, we're also discussing the X-Men "From the Ashes" panel at SXSW, where several new books were announced, we'll get into a recent AI art controversy, and talk about our experience at Planet Comicon in Kansas City.
On todays episode, we're talking DWJ's Extremity Kick Starter, a marvel movie and show headline recap, and a wider release coming for the DC character parody film The Peoples Joker. After working our way past the headlines, we get into the reading club! How does Peach Momokos take on mutants differ from mainline comics the massive new title, Ultimate X-Men? What's up with this odd sized Image Comic you picked up called The Last Mermaid? What would've happened if Carter Burke had survived in 1986's Aliens? (We find out in What if... Aliens?, which was penned along with Paul Rieser). Does Chris Condon have another hit on his hands with his comic adaptation of Bary Gifford's Night People? And the last question we'll ask ourselves today is will Keezy Young's Sun Flowers teach you something new about what its like to live with Bipolar disorder? Alllll these answers and more... in this weeks First Issue Club!
In addition to the title topics we'll talk a bit about "What if... Venom", Roy Thomas's return to Conan, Josh Gad is another celeb coming to comics, Alan Moore's last comic, Marvels new freebies titled "Must Haves", and I share some recent slabs I got my hands on.
Yes, Blasfamous is spelt right! It's a new comic from club Favorite Mirka Andolfo out on DSTLRY right now. We're also talking about the sister series to The One Hand (which we covered a couple weeks back), The Six Fingers by Dan Watters out on Image comics.  Before getting into those titles, we're talking comic book news! Hear our takes on DC releases moving back to Wednesdays for new comic book day, The announce of DC's Absolute Power, Jason Aaron apparently writing a Scrooge McDuck comic, EC Comics being reborn at Oni, and oh so much more.
This week, MCU fans were bombarded with news! We'll discuss the reception of Madame Web, The X-Men 97 and Deadpool & Wolverine trailers, Fantastic Four casting, and Midnight Sons movie rumors. Beyond the cinema, we're telling 70s and 80s babies to pick up Thundercats issue 2 if you want the first appearance of a new Thundercat "Calica". We're also talking a few additional comics like Jackpot 1 which features a super-powered Mary Jane Watson, Sinister Sons 1 which gives us a DC comics villian version of the Super Sons, and Blue Book 1947 issue 1, which will be another mini-series documenting encounters, AT LEAST of the second kind... maybe third kind by the time the series is through!!?? Need more? Hop over to the Patreon, where next week we'll be discussing error variants, and a few buzzworthy comics.
This weeks First Issue Club is all about comic book news! It was a heavy week for announcements, controverseys, and factoids. If you dare press play, you'll hear about the Cadence Comic Art exodus, the hobby of collecting art, the El Muerto movie moving forward without its star Bad Bunny, the state of the super hero movie, Rob Liefeld retiring from Deadpool, Black Panther Unlimited having 12,000 copies go missing, AND MORE! Thats about 40-45 minutes worth of news before we get to comics, so if you wanna head straight to the reading club, skip ahead to somewhere in that range.
This week in addition to the comics in the title, we're talking DC's Power, which is the return of their Black History Month anthology, and trying to explain Dead X-Men 1 as best we can. In the news we're talking the casting of a new Super Girl, another actor drops from Marvels Thunderbolts, unauthorized celeb comics, and Ghost Machine's creator exclusivity.
This week we're focusing most of our brainpower on trying to understand the Ghost Machine timeline - A new connected and unconnected universe of comics on Image from Geoff Johns & friends, which is related to Gieger which you might remember from a few years back, also on Image. Then, Mike D takes us back a couple months to cover a book we missed! Red Light on on AWA, was a fantastic first issue that we recommend for adult readers.
This week the club is BUZZING with excitement to get into Jason Aaron picking up TMNT on IDW, and the big change in X-titles thats just around the corner. We're also covering the comics in the title in addition to a couple extras like Garth Ennis taking on 007, The Bloody Dozen from Charles Soule, and Fall of the House of X.
Ha-Cha-Cha! It's another episode of the First Issue Club. This episode Vargas, Mike, & Greg immeditaley get off track talking about the Dice-Man, and Morgan Wallen (I think the throughline being cancellable people who were controversally on SNL). Then, we're getting to comics with a quick chat about Marvel Comic's The Hood before we cover our first issues, speaking of which: Greg talks us through Sean Gordon Murphy's Zorro, and Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man. Andy goes back a week to cover the books we missed over the New Year (due to our best of episode... Check it out), & talks us through The Agent, Skeeters, Kyle Stark's Pine & Merrimac & Joshua Williamson's Duke. Lastly, Mike goes even further back into December to cover Jason Aarons Batman Off-World.  If you can't get enough, join us over on our Patreon for bonus episodes, or check out our guest appearance on this weeks BLVD Brewcast where Greg & Mike talk comics and beer with our pals at Boulevard Brewery.
