Navigating grief has been the hardest thing I've ever done. Every minute is different from the last. Sometimes I feel like I'm pinned under a hundred weighted blankets and other times it feels a little easier to breath. Either, I'm grateful to have a circle of people that help breathing easy, come easy.
On this episode, I get to chat with my big bro Solomon Chapman about navigating the woe that is grief. https://anchor.fm/first-of-all-the-podcast0/episodes/First-Of-All---Good-Grief-e2fkl3n

Rejection is something that everyone faces. Whether it’s with love, a job, a friendship, it all can rattle that inner doubt that echos “you’re not good enough”. Everyone’s story has already been written. God knows every twist, turn & tumble that we’re going to take, way before it happens. Even though He knows, we’re still finding out every single day. God gives us the opportunity to make better decisions and to be better people. He gives a chance to rewrite our stories so that they look more like His. In this episode, I talk with Christine Saint-Vil from Rain to Reign about what the journey is like to be ReWritten.Follow Us on Instagram: @FirstofAlltheInstaFollow this episode's guest on Instagram: @RaintoReignSubscribe to this podcast and be sure to leave a review!
2020 has tested so many aspects of us. One of the many things that has been testing us is what it really means to be a “Good Christian”. Is there such a thing? If so, what does that look like? In this episode I talk with Renee Davis-Henderson aka Jubilee about just that. Tune in to this very real and honest conversation that’s full of insight & conviction.Follow Us on Instagram: @FirstofAlltheInstaFollow this episode's guest on Instagram: @JubileeReneeSubscribe to this podcast and be sure to leave a review!
2020 has been a year full of questions. Why is this happening? When will it end? What's the point? This year many of us have been forced to face ourselves and genuinely figure out why we're here. Purpose is such a heavy word that everyone is expected to carry, but how can you know what it is? In this episode, I talk with Elder Jeffrey Brooks, aka my dad, about understanding what your purpose is and how to walk in it, just like we're supposed to.Follow Us on Instagram: @FirstofAlltheInstaSubscribe to this podcast and be sure to leave a review!
Have you ever sat and reflected about the decisions that you have made in the past and thought, "If only I knew then, what I know now...?" Have you ever thought, "If I would have just (insert regret here), then I would be so much further now...?" Same.In this episode I talk with creator and host of JustRez, Eirz Scott, about regrets in life and this we all wish we could have done differently. We focus on the fact that the past can't be the past if you just stay in it. In this amazing conversation, we talk about what it looks like to use the regrets you may have from your past and turn in into your lessons. You can't change what has already happened, but you can absolute control what you do with what you learned from it. Make sure you follow JustRez for content on sharing ideas about struggles, goals and doing you on purpose! There are so many questions that we ask eachother when getting to know who someone is. What is your family like? What's your favorite color? What do you do for a living? So many surface level questions that don't require deeper level answers. In this episode my favorite person and I play a game called "We're Not Really Strangers". This game offers some simple questions that can provoke some profound thoughts. We used this game to dig a little deeper and learn a little more. Please enjoy this episode with my very special guest, my husband, Aaron Daniels.Follow Aaron Daniels: Facebook: Aaron Daniels MusicInstagram: @AaronDanielsMusicWebsite: Aarondanielsmusic.comLoop Community: Aaron Daniels MusicFollow our First of All social media pages on:Instagram: @FirstofallthepodcastBuzzsprout: https://firstofallthepodcast.buzzsprout.comSpotify: First of All - Jamia DanielsApple Podcasts: First of All
Sometimes we get so caught up in what starting something looks like, that we forget to finish. Sometimes we start something so strongly, but we hinder our own progress. Sometimes the voices we hear telling us to "keep going" and that "you got this" are just as loud as the ones doubting our own abilities. But what if you did finish? What if you did just push through the uncomfortability of it all? What if it works? Finishing is the only way to turn the "what if" into "it did". In this episode Alexandria Reed, founder of Gladiate Beautifully and host of the Gladiate Beautifully Podcast, and I talk about our own struggles to finish, and what it looks like to cross that finish line. Be sure to head over to the Gladiate Beautifully Podcast to catch Pt 2 of this awesome conversation! No one is used to this. This is a time where everyone is basically forced to sit still, but expected to keep it moving. Being still doesn't necessarily mean doing nothing. Being still can mean being quiet or being at peace. During this time there is still so much pressure to perform, but people forget that having no choice but to be alone with yourself is a task in itself. You don't have to come up with a new hobby or a new skill to be considered productive. If you can spend time with yourself and recognize the issues and problems you've been distracting yourself from, coming out of this with a better habits is more productive than new hobbies. Be still in this time. Know who God is and what He is to you. Build skill in prayer, or knowledge of His word. That's productivity. That's something you can carry even after this quarentine. Number 14:18 says ‘The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.’ Oftentimes we deal with emotions, issues and habits that we don't fully understand and that we know aren't healthy. We get so stuck on the notion that, "That's just how I am..." not realizing that who you are is a result of the decisions that were made before you were even a thought. It doesn't stop at generational alcoholism or addiction. Generational curses can penetrate the way you communicate and even the way you love. Being a curse breaker doesn't just mean to be different from your parents. It requires you know what they're inadvertently passing on and making sure you're ready to push back.Follow our First of All social media pages on:Instagram: @FirstofallthepodcastBuzzsprout: https://firstofallthepodcast.buzzsprout.comSpotify: First of All - Jamia DanielsApple Podcasts: First of All
The Content is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Millions of people are dealing with mental health issues everyday and only a fraction of those people are seeking treatment for it. Anxiety and depression are real things. A lot of times we try to negate or suppress our own thoughts and emotions because we don't feel like we're in control of them. As Christians, we know to pray and put our hope in God, but sometimes, our minds combat our trust in Him. Matthew 6:26-27 says, "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" It's so important to remember that you are valued, you are loved, and you mean something. Anxiety makes it its mission to convince you of what is not true. It's your job to remind yourself what is.Follow Gladiate Beautifully on:Facebook: Gladiate BeautifullyInstagram: @GladiateBeautifullyPodcast: Gladiate BeautifullyFollow our First of All social media pages on:Instagram: @FirstofallthepodcastBuzzsprout: https://firstofallthepodcast.buzzsprout.comSpotify: First of All - Jamia DanielsApple Podcasts: First of All
Pain tolerance is the maximum level of pain that person is able to tolerate. Every person has some sort of pain threshold, in every sense of the word, and ways that they deal with pain. In this episode, we have an open conversation about what pain looks like, how we deal with pain and what God says about it. First of all, what can you handle?Follow Gladiate Beautifully on:Facebook: Gladiate BeautifullyInstagram: @GladiateBeautifullyPodcast: Gladiate BeautifullyFollow our First of All social media pages on:Instagram: @FirstofallthepodcastBuzzsprout: https://firstofallthepodcast.buzzsprout.comSpotify: First of All - Jamia DanielsApple Podcasts: First of All
