Folk With Us

In this ep Rachel and Tim use words they definitely understand, there are multiple burps, and Eric takes the sound drop reigns! This is the last ep for a while but we promise we will be back. Til next time friends! 

It's time to talk about home remedies with our HOMIE @thegreggiest! We really talk about home remedies in this one, with a fantastical flair! Plus in this ep there's discourse about deadpool, we recommend the movie Pan, and we designate Pete Buttigieg as the official recipient of all the warts in world. What an honor! First episode of 2020! We revisited moonshine since the chapter hadn't really gotten the folk with us treatment quite yet and boy was it a good one, with an unprecedented sound theme to boot!

Okay we admit, this one is not the most educational ep. This one is ALL games, no actual information... but you might be surprised to find a few lessons, such as santa has some pretty amazing secret powers and poptropica is still a bangin place to explore! We will revisit moonshine in a future episode to do the chapter justice, since there is a lot of interesting history to talk about. But for now we're doing something a little out of character and deviating from our book. We reunited three of our past guests to tipple and make the riffle and you can't say we didn't do that, so don't even try. Have a good holiday season, do something folksy for yourself, and don't forget to auld lang syne my dear!  

Boy I am sleepy right now and will probably update this episode description tomorrow. We do rhymes again in this one Edit: The only other thing you need to know is Rachel burned her thumb before the recording lighting a candle and that's why she's obsessed with ice water in this episode. Here's a lil boco for those of you who don't want the creepy stuff to end quite yet. Tim was out this day and the ep is more chill than usual, just some nerds talking about frightening topics, like munchausen by proxy, serial killers, sleep paralysis and, in the case of Rachel's anticlimactic story, weird vibes. [Editor's note: When I told the story I forgot to mention that when I first moved in, there were little Xs carved into some of the walls and at one point I found the word "LIAR" carved too and had to cover it up with a poster. That's creepy, right?] Anyway this is the podcast debut of our delightful Producer Jessica who only uses twitter to creep on people and I forgot to ask her for plugs. She's all about that Dark Shit so if you have any questions about true crime or the supernatural, I will pass them along to her and get the answers you seek.  CW- this ep is a little darker than usual and we do mention a few heavier topics like abuse and assault. 

Tehehehe.....that's the sound of freakish ghouls and goblins creeping around! that's right, this episode of ~freak~ with us is spooky themed, so it's best to listen to when the veil between our realms is thin. most of the ep we play rachel's very own bandersnatch (hint: trust no one) and introduce some very beautiful patches to our audio friendship quilt! have a safe/fun halloween and don't forget to be nice to your neighborhood witch!

This week the talented and hilarious Andrew (@clotworthymusic) joined us to discuss the v important questions we've all been asking ourselves, such as "what's up with adam lavine" and "how might a snake milk a cow?" Plus a cool activity you can play with your friends where you make up legends about snakes. We're porbably just going to continue running long because our conversations are naturally meandering like the sweet sap of our uncle's cursed barrel but hopefully you're here because you're into that anyway. Or you're producer jessica and you've got a google alert set for when rachel roasts your catch phrase ideas. Most important takeaway? We are building an audio friendship quilt and need your help. Call in (or tweet) with patches! 

Our fabulous guest Sarah (@SarahCurlyHaira) joined us to share a bottle of wine made from blueberry blossom honey and talk about all the different kinds of butters as well as donkey milk soap. There was also a pretty hip quilting game that might help you catch up with the younger generations. We ran long this week (and there will actually be a second part coming out soon) but didn't want to chop much of it out because we had fun and think you might too! The song at the end is Half Baked by Jimmy Campbell, which I picked because Angel Olsen said she likes it.

In this ep we try to make Rhea Butcher proud of us so if you know them, please pass this along! No guest this week but it's all good.
