Surprise! Jim and I were tres intrigued by the pilot episode of HBO’s “The Leftovers”, and have decided to promote it to full cast status immediately. Each week we’ll be doing a Fargo-esque “half-assed cast”, which will increase it’s ass rating if warranted, coming out on Tuesdays. In this episode we talk about Problem Dogs, problem daughters, silent screams, the problem with enigmatic cults, what effect a widespread, supernatural phenomenon would have on our age of reason, and finally whether or not we believe Lindelof can deliver the long term goods. Jim and A.Ron break down another hour full of questions and blanketed with despair that is the second episode of The Leftovers, “Penguin One, Us Zero”. We discuss and then move past our histories with Lost and Lendelof, throw slushies at Princess Leia, accept six packs from imaginary friends, and have profanity laced debates with people who aren’t here. Jim and A.Ron are very impressed with HBO’s The Leftovers third outing, “Two Boats and a Helicopter”. We witness nothing less than the physical, emotional, and spiritual beating of former time lord turned reverend Christopher Eccleston. What does it all mean for our understanding of this world? Where will it go in the future? Who knows, but we have a good time pondering these questions and more, as well as sharing the very best from our fellow fan-based mailbag! This week on the podcast, Jim and A.Ron talk about the importance of tube grabbing, the instinctive, intense hatred we’re starting to feel towards the G.R., and lie awake at night pondering which of the Prius twins has more of the Todd nature. We’re back with another podcast for HBO’s The Leftovers, this time for episode 106, “Guest”. An episode that is positively upbeat and chipper compared to last week’s. Or as chipper and carefree as an episode featuring a mom hiring a hooker to shoot her in the chest as a way to deal with the crippling sense of loss she experienced when her whole family Departed can be, at any rate. Jim and A.Ron are flummoxed by the latest episode of The Leftovers, 107 “Solace for Tired Feet”. On the one hand, we have a lot of really interesting developments and nice character moments, on the other hand, we have questions. So many questions. Questions that seem awfully hard to answer in just three remaining episodes. Are they going to wrap things up nicely, or leave us begging for more, or are we in for a category 5 Lindelofing? Only time will tell. If you want to give us a shout out, or otherwise give us a piece of your mind, email us, check us out on Facebook, or Tweet us. We talk about Dean and Patti’s relationship, Jill’s chances of success as a GR acolyte, Kevin’s apparent dual nature and if there are other convincing explanations for it, and getting busy on a giant pile of guns. All this, your feedback and theories, and much more. If you want to give us a shout out, or otherwise give us a piece of your mind, email us, check us out on Facebook, or Tweet us. Jim and A.Ron are extremely impressed with the season final of HBO’s The Leftovers, “The Prodigal Son Returns!” We do an in-depth dive of the episode, considering all the great character moments, twists and turns, dream imagery, and general madness of Mapleton. But that’s not all, we’ll be back next week for more as A.Ron plows through the book by Tom Perrota, and we have more theories, more speculation, and more feedback! See you then! Jim and A.Ron look forward to checking in on the Garvey’s and meeting the Murphy’s in season two of The Leftovers, returning to your television this Sunday on HBO at 9pm… Support Bald Move: Amazon | Club Bald Move We’re pumped up due to Alan Sepinwall’s recent review and interview of show runner Damon Lindelof, so there is a ton to talk about. The mysteries of Jarden, Texas, the differing points of view featured this season, and what the heck is going on down in Australia? We don’t have a lot of answers, and Lindelof says he doesn’t either, but at least we’ll all have fun watching. Er, I mean, at least we’ll all sob our selves to sleep after watching. Riley camping on a column, the slaughter of goats, bird resurrection, firemen burning down houses, shocking “Perfect Stranger” and “Family Matters” tie ins… this episode met and exceeded our weirdness expectations and left us wanting more. In this podcast, covering HBO’s “The Leftovers” episode 202, “A Matter of Geography”, we get to see what the Garveys were up to while the Murpheys were burning houses down, praying with old people, and running naked through the woods… Discussion points include; is Kevin crazy, why is Kevin Sr. “moving” to Australia, will Nora find safety in Jardin, can Holy Wayne’s baby take the poison out of pie, and is Miracle really Auschwitz? Who was ready for a solid hour of Laurie Garvey and her dopey son Tommy before around 9:12pm Sunday night? We certainly weren’t. But wouldn’t you know, The Leftovers found a way to make these two hard to love characters who we didn’t feel particularly invested in almost instantly compelling. Support Bald Move: Amazon | Club Bald Move We discuss the insight the episode has into ex-cult relationships, Meg’s new found power in the Guilty Remnant, and discuss the Tommy/Lil’ Wayne situation. Is he for real? If he’s not, does he think he is? Will it matter? All this plus we get a truly shocking and revolting reveal into the dark heart of humanity straight from a fellow listener in the feedback section. Can’t wait for next week! Jim and A.Ron enjoy the tiny breather of an episode that is “Orange Sticker”… Support Bald Move: Amazon | Club Bald Move You can’t expect a show to go full throttle crazy times all season long, so we get to see The Leftovers get their characters setup for the next inevitable stomach punch. We discuss Nora’s denial, if Kevin really wants to die, if Jill is sleep walking, a ton of biblical references surrounding Babylon, and we top things off with a generous helping of feedback. Jim and A.Ron are once again blown away by an episode of The Leftovers, “No Room at the Inn”. Such a contradiction contained in one man, Matt Jamison; the strength, power, self-sacrifice and courage of his convictions, who lovingly and painstakingly cares for his comatose wife, who also is capable of lashing out at complete strangers and… raping his comatose wife?! A lot of dark possibilities in this story line that is nevertheless touching and even heartbreaking at turns. Support Bald Move: Amazon | Club Bald Move Other points of discussion; John’s role as The Adversary, the meaning and significance of beating Reggie, what’s up with the goat population of Miracle, anyway, what does Mary’s pregnancy mean, the law of conservation of the 9,261 being observed, and much much more, including a robust feedback section.
