This week we start a series looking at Soccer in the States with a focus in this episode on young player development. How do we train young soccer players to both understand the game and develop individual skills to help them be successful. What does success even look like at the youngest ages? What's the role of a coach? What's the role of a parent at this stage?Matt Hein, Director of the Player Development Academy at Fort Wayne Sport Club, joins us for this conversation.Catch us live at 9pm every Sunday night, or later in the week on your favorite podcast directory.---Sponsor Links:Omnisource - https://www.omnisource.comLazer X - https://lazerxfw.comDead One Pest Control - https://deadonepestcontrol.com---Join us on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/c/FortWayneFootyYou can now join as a monthly Patron and access exclusive content or simply support the show with a one-time donation of $15, $30, or $50.---Social Links:Web: https://www.fortwaynefooty.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/fortwaynefootyFacebook: https://facebook.com/fortwaynefooty---Interested in supporting Fort Wayne Footy and our efforts to cover soccer in the Fort Wayne area? The high school regional semi-finals and finals were held this past week and though so many of our area teams participated, only one still remains in the competition. We'll recap those regional matches and see what's ahead for the Blackhawk Christian boys as they advance to the state semi-finals.Also, Fort Wayne FC recently announced they are going with a new look as they head into a new league. The details of their rebrand have not been released but will be this Thursday evening and we'll be there to cover it. Listen for more details. And finally, Next Gen College Soccer Committee just released a white paper (read it here) in conjunction with US Soccer, recommending some fairly drastic changes to college soccer to enhance player development, cut costs for the institutions and better align with professional leagues schedules. What does that mean for current high school athletes? What does that mean for the future of US Soccer? Let's discuss.Catch us live at 9pm every Sunday night, or later in the week on your favorite podcast directory.---Sponsor Links:Omnisource - https://www.omnisource.comLazer X - https://lazerxfw.comDead One Pest Control - https://deadonepestcontrol.com---Join us on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/c/FortWayneFootyYou can now join as a monthly Patron and access exclusive content or simply support the show with a one-time donation of $15, $30, or $50.---Social Links:Web: https://www.fortwaynefooty.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/fortwaynefootyFacebook: https://facebook.com/fortwaynefooty---Interested in supporting Fort Wayne Footy and our efforts to cover soccer in the Fort Wayne area? The high school soccer season is getting more exciting as teams get deeper into conference play. When those conference matches end in a draw, the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) gives conferences the option to end it as it is or to decide the match by penalty kicks. Here in Fort Wayne we've seen several matches this week decided by penalties and tonight we will discuss why this is or is not a good thing for the game. We also have Sam Pech, head coach for Summit City United's MLIS men's team, coming on to talk about their upcoming season and how fans can get involved.Catch us live at 9pm every Sunday night, or later in the week on your favorite podcast directory.---Sponsor Links:Omnisource - https://www.omnisource.comLazer X - https://lazerxfw.comDead One Pest Control - https://deadonepestcontrol.com---Join us on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/c/FortWayneFootyYou can now join as a monthly Patron and access exclusive content or simply support the show with a one-time donation of $15, $30, or $50.---Social Links:Web: https://www.fortwaynefooty.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/fortwaynefootyFacebook: https://facebook.com/fortwaynefooty---Interested in supporting Fort Wayne Footy and our efforts to cover soccer in the Fort Wayne area?
