On the Day of Atonement, God gave Israel a vivid picture of sin being judged, transferred, and carried away through the two goats. In Jesus, that shadow becomes reality: He bore our sins, removed them from us, and accomplished once for all what the old covenant could only picture year after year.

Joshua didn’t hear a different promise than the rest of Israel; he simply believed what God had already said and interpreted the giants through that promise. Because he knew God was with them, he could look at an intimidating enemy and say with confidence, “They are bread for us.” He mixed faith with the promise, and that faith changed how he saw the problem in front of him.

What you focus on shapes what you see, and when you continually complain about what’s wrong, you can become blind to God’s provision and even begin to loathe the manna at your feet. Instead of letting the snakes of life consume your attention, mix God’s promises with faith, keep your eyes on Jesus, sow gratitude, and let love—not spiritual elitism—be the true measure of your maturity.
