The 12 Year Sesh

This is Frankie B and You’re listening to the Sesh.  Happy 4/20 and the begining of Season 12!  We’ve got a great mix for you to vibe on today with some classics a lot of dub, a remix of Yellowman’s Zungguzungguguzungguzeng and a few new tracks sprinkled in to keep you chill through the 1.5 hour sesh. Enjoy!   If you’ve been accessing the show on Podbean, you’ll notice I’m not there any longer.  I’ve moved the show to Simplecast, as I’m now with the good people at Big Pond Podcasts.  You can still access my show at every other major podcast provider and even expanding to a few more international providers as well.  If you want to continue to support the show, show me some love and rate the show.  If we get to 100 ratings, I’ll do a pure lovers rock or dub session.  Let me know what you prefer in the ratings or jump on and say hi on Instagram!
As we gear up for Season 12 of FBRS on April 20th, we are going to play some of my favorite sessions to get you ready for 4/20.  This Session is from August of 2016 - Roots and Culture 2.0.  It was time when we had Samory’s first release and Chronology from Chronixx on top of some great singles from Kabaka and Kellissa.  Its just sucha good selection of music.

So just sit back and relax, while we guide you on an exceptional journey through the life and ethos of Bob Marley. Afterwards we celebrate the Marley Family by playing songs from 2 more generations of this amazing family.    In the end, let's not forget Bob Marley's message of unity, liberation, and love for the land. His music is his legacy—a legacy that we have the privilege to unpack, understand and appreciate. Welcome to the Marley Session—a tribute to a legend like no other.
I caught up with Samory I the morning after his Album Release party for "Strength."  7 Years after our first interview and months before the release of Black Gold, a lot has changed in Samory's life. From his experience in the creation of Rory Stonelove's Black Gold, to his Collaboration with Winta James on the production of his new album Strength.  I would say Samory I has evolved from a reggae singer to an artist and that his new Album should be a strong contender for next year's Grammys.  Listen to our conversation, along with some of his most recent tracks, and understand why the artist, Samory I, and his new album, "Strength," are what you should be listening to right now.

As we come down to the last day before Season 11.  I wanted to hit you with a 420 friendly episode.  The Hempire Strikes Back is one of those episodes that aged really well (which I can't say for all of my early episodes) with great artists, great music and running close to and hour and a half, it should keep you busy until tomorrow's episode! Season 11 airs in 1 day and is packed with great music, including a good taste of the Newly Released, Ziggy Stardub, a reggae reimagining of David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and features guest performances by Maxi Priest, Steel Pulse, Fishbone, Alex Lifeson (Rush), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), The Skints, Mortimer, The Expanders, Samory I, and many others.  It seriously is a beautiful Reggae Tribute to a Legend!   Packages of the album are available here, including royal blue colored vinyl along with CD and exclusive t-shirt offerings.
As we gear up for Season/Year 11 of the Session on 4/20/23, we're going back to some of my favorite and fan favorite episodes.  This is one of my favorite "cover" episodes with Legendary Artists covering Legendary Tracks! Frankie Paul - I Know The Score Al Brown - Love & Happiness Paragons - The Tide Is High Peter Tosh - Here Comes The Sun John Holt - Hey Jude Wayne Wade - Lady The Wailers - Sugar Sugar Dennis Brown - I’m Your Puppet Tarrus Riley - Human Nature Busy Signal - One More Night Romain Virgo - Soul Provider Gappy Ranks - Just The Two of Us Busy Signal - Night Shift Beres Hammond - These Arms of Mine
As we gear up for Season/Year 11 of the Session, we're going back to some of my favorite and fan favorite episodes.  This one gets a lot of love from the listeners as its some of the 90's Hip Hop Greats like the Wu, Fugees, Black Star and more that are blended perfectly with rootsy riddims in a little 30 min package.
