Thanks for visiting Fries Today this week. We know there are literally 72 billion shows to choose from, but you chose us. You a real one. Today's episode is sponsored by G Slade, indie music artist. Check out his new album "Raised In America". You can find G Slade on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music and most other platforms. Visit http://gslade.com/ (gslade.com) for previews of all of the tracks. If you're an indie music fan, check out our partner podcast over at http://gsladeshow.com/ (gsladeshow.com) - G Slade interviews a new indie artist every week and plays a few tracks hand picked by the artists. This week we talk about the recently released Netflix film, "The Social Dilemma". How much time a day do you spend checking your social media accounts? How many times a week do you engage in argument with complete strangers only to walk away feeling stressed and aggravated? How much money have you spent not even realizing you were manipulated into spending? How does it feel being the largest commodity bought and sold online? We're not talking about human trafficking; we're talking about your personal screen time. If you've ever stared at a screen on the internet, someone is trying to sell your attention to someone else. No one is immune. This show literally affects everyone listening, and even everyone not listening. Sit back, relax, and take it all in and Ritch and George try to figure this whole internet thing out. Last week we mentioned donating to your local food bank, and if you need help finding one in your area, go to https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank (https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank) and see what's near you! Episode 5: Cold Case Part 2

Thanks for visiting Fries Today this week. Today's episode is sponsored by G Slade, indie music artist. Check out his new album "Raised In America". You can find G Slade on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music and most other platforms. Visit http://gslade.com (http://gslade.com) for previews of all of the tracks. This week's show is the second part in a multi episode series concerning the 30 year old cold case of Samuel Boyd Slade Sr. The murder occurred September 7, 1990 in Raymond, MS. Samuel's second child ended up becoming the co-host of this show so this week's topic is deeply personal to the Fries Today team. If you have not heard part one, visit the archives at gsladeshow.com and get caught up, before you dive into this week's episode. For the thirty years between then and now no new information has surfaced from the justice system and very little information has been handed down to the children, leaving the entire sequence of events shrouded in mystery, rumors and conjectures. Last week, we explored the known facts of the case. This week we dive into a few of the rumors and allegations of some of the events of that day, and follow the logical course of events to paint a hypothetical picture of what might have happened. This case split a family, a rift which continues to this day, and as more time goes by, the chances of learning the truth about this case get slimmer and slimmer. Many questions remain thirty years later. Who killed Samuel Slade? Why was he killed? Was his family involved? Was it premeditated or a crime of passion? How many people were involved? Are the guilty parties still alive and well? If the case was so rock solid, why couldn't the famous prosecutor Bobby Delaughter secure a conviction, and why was no one else ever charged in the murder? I can't promise we'll find the truth, but I can guarantee an authentic and interesting story. Come along with us for the ride, and if you have any new information to offer, even if it's just correcting statements you hear made today, please message the show on twitter at https://twitter.com/friestoday1 (@friestoday1) Visit the show's twitter feed for images of Raymond that correspond to some of the statements made on today's show. Here are 2 links to articles from the Clarion Ledger I clipped when researching the case. These are the only two references to the case I can find in the capital city's major newspaper. Bobby Washington Arrest - https://www.newspapers.com/clip/26947322/dads-murder-01/ (https://www.newspapers.com/clip/26947322/dads-murder-01/) Boyd Slade Murder - https://www.newspapers.com/clip/26947500/dad-murder-02/ (https://www.newspapers.com/clip/26947500/dad-murder-02/) This week's artwork is brought to you by https://twitter.com/nikkileo4 (@NikkiLeo4) (Twitter) Check her out at https://www.deviantart.com/nikbob (https://www.deviantart.com/nikbob) and send her some love for her art.

Episode 3: 9/11 & Cuties

Episode 3 of Fries Today is here, and in true fashion, we ramble through an array of subjects, including 9/11, the controversial movie Cuties and the #cancelNetflix movement on Twitter this week. We also touch on G Slade's upcoming album release, "Raised In America", which will be available very soon, possibly already, on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon music, CD Baby and more. Follow G Slade @gslademusic on Twitter. Follow the show on Twitter @friestoday1 to keep up with all things happening in the world of Fries Today. We are interested in using listener submitted artwork to function as unique episode artwork. If you're a graphic artist, or if you know one that needs exposure, have them tweet us or DM the show's account and let us know what you have to offer. We'll plug the artist for whichever week you make it on the show.  Next week's show will focus on a 30 year old cold case of murder in Raymond, MS. If you want your artwork considered for that show, shoot us a link to a 3000x3000 image. Again, send direct messages to @friestoday1 on Twitter. Thank you so much for checking us out this week, and we hope you enjoy the show.

This week we touch on the book "White Fragility". Please feel free to offer your own feedback, whether you agree with us or not, on our Twitter page https://twitter.com/friestoday1 (@friestoday1) Here's George's review from GoodReads https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3700129346?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1 (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3700129346?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1) "This is is probably the most irresponsible book I've ever read on race relations. I don't think anyone can seriously suggest that there are not issues around the effects of racism; however, the author's take on the subject makes the notion of racism so ubiquitous that it waters down and dilutes the actual meaning of the term and paints every action by whites as being motivated by the inescapable foundations of racism. It's just ridiculous. Another issue with this is how she goes out of her way to make sure you feel guilty if you're white, but then puts the responsibility of finding solutions on the guilty racist readers. I feel if you're going to bring up problems, you should also bring up solutions. I'd love to have a discussion around this topic so dissenting feedback is welcomed." This week's show is the first part in a multi episode series concerning the 30 year old cold case of Samuel Boyd Slade Sr. The murder occurred September 7, 1990 in Raymond, MS. Samuel's second child ended up becoming the co-host of this show so this week's topic is deeply personal to the Fries Today team. For the thirty years between then and now no new information has surfaced from the justice system and very little information has been handed down to the children, leaving the entire sequence of events shrouded in mystery, rumors and conjectures. In today's show we cover the known facts of the case and start discussing some of the dark theories around what actually happened that night.
