Food, eating, and nutrition are a huge topic of conversation when it comes to fertility. As it should be! But like most things in the fertility world - we are not meant to try and figure everything out ourselves. You are already overwhelmed with the journey itself, so finding support is so important - no one expects you to also be a nutritionist or dietician! People go to school for this and study for years. So finding practitioners who specialize in fertility becomes very important. And nutrition is a great place to begin. One other thing that I also think is important is that we are able to not feel stressed around food. Something that is so hard when we’re trying to eat healthy for our fertility. Today I talk with Becca Romero the founder of Sprout Fertility, an online fertility nutrition clinic. Becca is a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist and a Certified Nutrition Specialist. With a specialized focus on addressing infertility, she offers personalized dietary and lifestyle solutions for women hoping to conceive. Becca is passionate about helping her clients understand how a healthy diet and lifestyle can enhance fertility in addition to empowering women with knowledge on their menstrual cycle for conception. She is driven by the philosophy that optimal preconception nutrition and lifestyle can shape the well-being of generations to come. This is what we covered in the episode:Understanding fertility nutritionThe importance of individualization of diet for fertilityCommon diet related issues affecting fertilityBlood Sugar and infertilityUnexplained infertility and dietThe importance of a holistic care teamGetting your partner on board and how the change in sperm count reflects an overall trend in male reproductive healthGet a free consultation with Becca: https://my.practicebetter.io/#/622be4c0df28dd39964f940c/bookings?s=622c04e2df28dd3996500bb9&step=dateHow to find Becca:www.sproutfertility.coIG: @sproutfertility Podcast: Fertility Stories Podcast on Apple and Spotify Fringe Fertility is brought to you by Kerry Hinds and Fertile Body Yoga – a virtual holistic wellness hub for those going through fertility. Welcome to Season 3! Starting off 2025 with one of my newer frameworks of fertility. Minimalist Fertility takes the concepts of minimalism and applies them to fertility. Why embrace a minimalist fertility perspective? With the noise of fertility, fertility treatments, and fertility boosting practices, we are overwhelmed with information, but underwhelmed with direction. Which is the best choice, what action should I take, what works best for me, my body, my life? Minimalist Fertility turns down the noise and turns up living your life to it's fullest while trying to conceive! What are the core values that you want to take with you on your fertility journey? Remember your value and make your decision based on how to maintain this the best - consciously and purposefully. I love a good meditation - and this is one of my favorites - it's not necessarily a fertility meditation, but it is a good one for those who are trying to conceive. During the holidays - its important that we take care of ourselves, give our bodies the opportunity to rest, and our minds a moment to pause. This meditation leads through making a protective layer around yourself that you can use before heading in the parties and family gatherings. Sometimes the way we walk into a situation will determine our experiences as positive or negative. IF you go in thinking it's going to be a horrible evening, chances are, it will be. If you're looking for some more great ideas and practices for the holidays - here is a link to an earlier podcast episode - Navigating the Holidays that I did with Elena Clamen, LMHC and Expressive Art Therapist! We hear a lot about nervous system regulation and managing stress when we are TTC and navigating our fertility journey. And although we seem to be very familiar with these concepts - understanding them and practicing them is definitely nuanced and not so straightforward. So today you are going to get an amazing explanation of the nervous system and what trauma ACTUALLY is and how it shows up in your body and why we should be aware that we all have trauma. And the fertility journey can add to this. When we think about the fertility journey, so much happens that is considered - well traumatic. Sometimes trauma with a capital T and sometimes years of relatively minor experiences that can accumulate trauma and sneak in without you even know it. I’m so glad I have my guest to navigate this with you. Today my guest is the most fabulous Jessica Carlin. She is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner ™, movement educator and Registered Massage Therapist. With over 20 years of experience, her practice is coherence based and client centered, combining evidence with intuition. Jessica works with layers of embodied anatomy, discovering the stuck patterns in tissues and systems of the body and supporting the renegotiation of these patterns to help find physiological coherence, health and nervous system resilience. Ever curious about nature, movement and healing, Jessica also has a deep love of nature, dance and adventuring with her dog. During the fertility journey there are a lot things that happen that would definitely fall into the shitty category. And often we are left with our own devices to figure out how to deal with them, move through them, and heal. This episode I resurrect an old blog post that I originally wrote about fertility and overcoming some of the challenges we meet with yoga, and then when I published it, it was right after Roe V Wade was overturned. And now after an election that puts the reproductive and rights and freedom in jeopardy for so many people, I thought it about time I spoke about this. From the yogic lens we ask these questions: 1. What am I consuming? 2. Am I using discernment? 3. Which direction is my energy flowing? 4. Am I in the flow of nature? I also dive a little bit into the physical body how we can use movement to help process mental and emotional energy.
