And what started as a joyous holiday celebration soon turns into a night of sharing stories from Christmas past while trying to keep the fire from going out. Why is no one worried about the ten feet of snow that has piled up over night? How come we get no update about Mary's New York life? Harriet is approached with a new method on how to operate her restaurant to earn more profits. Due to Harriet's inability to read a contract, she ends up over her head. Harriet is not the only one feeling the effects of the contract: Mr. Oleson, Caroline, Hester Sue and, of course, Charles are all taking on more burden with less pay. Realizing he might be stuck making dinners for the brood at Plum Creek, Charles comes up with a plan to take down Mrs. Sullivan's Army. How does Hester Sue spend her time away from the restaurant? The kids of Walnut Grove School were correct about Miss Eliza Jane Wilder: She does indeed assign more home work that Alice Garvey ever did. And special projects too. In fact the latest project is a Family Tree. While Laura is ready to run home and start on hers, Albert is left wondering what to do about his, other than make one up. This leads to the decision for Charles and Caroline to finally/officially adopt Albert into the Ingalls family. What seemed like a simple process turns into anything but (are we surprised?) when Albert's Biological dad is located. Although the prospect of a son is the farthest thing on his mind, Jeremy Quinn is very pleased to learn that he will soon have a strong and youthful farm hand. Finding themselves on the other side of the law, the Ingalls fear their family will soon be torn apart. That's until the brilliance of Albert finds a way from preventing that from happening. Did Post-Mistress Mr. Oleson go through a different training program than Post-Mistress Kizia Horn? Who is really in the Oleson family tree? Is anyone else curious about Albert's mother or how he ended up in the orphanage? Picking up right where we left off...Caroline confronts Laura about her misdeeds with Nellie's dinner date with Almanzo. While she's okay with "apologizing" to Nellie, Laura bolts rather than being forced, like a child, to apologize to Almanzo. More than ever Laura is determined to become a woman and she believes accelerating her plan in becoming an educator is the path in doing so. But first she has to pass her final School exam. And the only way to do so is to get the study material from the one person in town whose taken the test...Nellie Oleson. Nellie is nice enough to share the resources material as well as her own experience with taking the test and what to focus on (P.S. History is NOT important). On test day, Laura's dreams of being a graduate are dashed and she realizes that actions have consequences...not only hers but Nellie's. Oh, and Charles is having a hard time with Laura's feelings as she is starting to move towards womanhood. Why did Laura think Nellie would not retaliate for the Cayenne pepper chicken mess? How long before we see Bare-chested Charles again? Should Harriet have considered opening a mud bath spa for Nellie instead of a restaurant? And we are back from the West Coast excursion and it's time to get back to school. The classroom seems different because 1) Ali G is no longer the teacher being replaced by a Miss Eliza Jane Wilder and 2) Nellie Oleson is a graduate/adult. Harriet decides to celebrate this moment by gifting Nellie her very own Hotel and Restaurant to Nellie's disgust. We also find out that Eliza Jane Wilder has a bother: Almanzo "Manny" Wilder. WOOF! You don't need a crystal or magic 8 ball to see this young man is going to amplify the rivalry between Laura and Nellie. Oh, Caroline gets a new job and it's the return of Bare-chested Charles. Man-o-Man what a wild return to the prairie. Does Laura know that her voice overs are actually spoilers? Almanzo/Manny/Manly/Zaldamo...how many names does one person need? Is Nellie able to do anything other than cause trouble? Solomon Henry has only one desire and that's to get an education. Stowing away on a wagon, driven by Charles, Solomon arrives in Walnut Grove. It's a different world not only for Solomon Henry but also for the population of Walnut Grove....because Solomon Henry is the first Black person to arrive in Walnut Grove. Realizing his dreams of an education may not even lead to any opportunities, Solomon is left with a choice to either continue on this path for education or to head home and help out with the family farm.  How far did Solomon walk to get himself to Mankato?  Is Charles happy he is not the only guy at Plum Creek for the moment? If Laura is such a friendly person....why do all of her new friends end up disappearing?   --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/john-hernandez67/support
What starts as a surprise birthday party for Charles turns into something more dire when Mary takes a gnarly fall inside the barn.  And she is eventually sent to Rochester for a surgery.  A simple procedure becomes more difficult when complications arise in Mary's recovery. With Mr. Edwards by his side, Charles makes his way to a Tunneling camp where he finds work that pays him really well. Blinded to the world around him, Charles is determined to make sure Mary gets the BEST CARE POSSIBLE which leads to Charles transforming into someone/something horrendous and trapped inside a mountain. Will Charles's actions and behavior towards his precious Mary have sealed his fate?  Will the Rochester hospital find a better solution for financial repayment plans for its patients and their families? Should Caroline consider opening her own laundry service back in Walnut Grove?                --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/john-hernandez67/support
Amelia Stokes, for the last twelve years, has been working as a teacher on the Reservation, married a Sioux man and had a child.  But her father, Jeremey Stokes, doesn't want that information to get out when she returns to Walnut Grove. This is when Amelia's son, Spotted Eagle, is given a new name, Joseph Stokes and told to be like everyone else.  However, he isn't like everyone else making him an easy target for this week's antagonist, Seth Johnson.  As Spotted Eagle navigates this new world he's been thrown into and tries to find a way to connect with his Grandfather, things get a little turbulent.  It isn't until Jeremey Stokes witnesses Spotted Eagle stand up for himself, despite circumstances, that he realizes how much he himself has to learn and grow.  Will Amelia Stokes ever get back to teaching? Does Laura have a new fishing buddy with Spotted Eagle?  How did I never notice that Charles was left handed?    --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/john-hernandez67/support
Little Ginny Clarke is elated, not only was it her suggestion for performing plays at school accepted but she is also invited to the Oleson's parlor for rehearsals. Ginny can't wait to share the news with Harold Mayfield, a local widower who happens to see what a giving person Ginny is, and Ginny's mom, who doesn't't seem to have any time in her life for anyone including Ginny.  As the premiere date approaches, Ginny's one wish is for her mom to see her debut.  And in a moment of life imitating art, Ginny makes a bold move to get her mom and Mr. Mayfield to attend the plays. Why is the Widow Clarke so unfriendly towards everyone?  Will the Oleson's get their white picket fence fixed?  When do you think Miss Beadle will let the kids try putting on plays again?   --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/john-hernandez67/support
