Both law enforcement and government officials are warning that there are groups of outside agitators that are pushing the protests towards violence. Revisiting a campaign promise this week, President Biden announced that he would have his administration review federal marijuana restrictions, potentially reclassifying it as a Schedule III substance. Currently listed as a Schedule I substance by the Drug Enforcement Agency, marijuana possession can lead to serious jail time at the federal level. 31 states have already decriminalized marijuana, with supporters touting medical benefits as well as tax incentives for states.
