This is a radio show about youth in agriculture. It was produced in Western Kenya in cooperation with the programme ‘Green Innovation Centres for the Agricultural and Food Sector’, a global initiative by the German Development Cooperation GIZ. For the program, the presenters met inspiring young farmers and agripreneurs as well as agricultural experts. The teams also went into the field to find out the secrets of well-run farms and agricultural businesses in Kakamega, Bungoma and Siaya County. They also answered many questions from listeners. The program adresses the challenges of youth in agriculture and gives them hands-on advice with focus on the Dairy and Sweet Potato value chain.

We followed up on the success stories coming out of the GIZ Youth conference that was held in 2018. The program involved a youth exporting passion fruits. He has contracted over 1,300 farmers in Mt. Elgon. In studio we hosted Mr. Paul Wabomba from Bungoma County Vissionary Network a youth based organization engaged in Agribusiness.
We looked at the App that has been development by KALRO to help farmers better their farming activities while being guided by the app does increasing yields.
During this episode we looked at digital innovations that offer farmers information on crop management, livestock, market, weather as well as pests and disease control.

Despite its great potential in connection with increased crop production, most farmers do not apply recommended manure management practices in their farming, leading to poor yields.
