Description

Have you ever spent hours looking for something you simply lost? How about a hundred years? How about looking for a missing airplane? Or a vanished civilization? Every other Monday, Gone searches for everything lost. From D. B. Cooper to the Holy Grail, the Etruscan language to early Russian cosmonauts; if it disappeared, we’re looking. After all, just because something is gone, doesn’t mean it can’t be found. Gone is a production of Cutler Media and part of the Parcast Network.

I like the podcast, but it is a little weak in content. It would be nice if, when you covered a topic, you brought a little more to the table than just what information you can find online. For example, when doing a podcast on Blackbeard, maybe interview some experts in the field on their theories. I'd love to hear their thoughts on the matter.

dfox I know exactly what you mean! and I agree...I'd rather listen to people have a conversation than listen to over produced ultra glossy professional narration. works fine for TV but sounds too emotionless and disconnected, which is why you never see podcasts narrated like this on the top 10 iTunes lists, cuz most people want to listen to normal people talking normally about these topics, not some fake over rehearsed professional, who is clearly just in it for the money, as apposed to the others who you can clearly sense have a real passion, and you can hear that! narration like this is too clinical and sounds too Hollywood in my opinionm but everybody has their preferences. but podcasts like this just feel all business, no pleasure.

Re: Portrait of a young man - it is Homer's father, Abe, who returns the painting to the German descendant, not Homer.

John Sealock Also, it was not a lack of taste but rather the arrival of Federal Agents that lead to the return of the art work.

Really like this podcast. Seems to be fairly well researched, well written, professionally narrated. (P.S. I'm a history teacher.)

Kathy Byer personally I don't like that that ultra professional over glossy narration on podcasts, all of the biggest and most successful podcasts are narrated by regular people using regular voices., it's far more enjoyable in my opinion to listen to somebody talk normally than this ultra fancy professional vibe. it sounds too cold and emotionless to me. sounds overly rehearsed and static. I don't think it works well for podcasts, which is why podcasts done like this are never in the top 10 most listened to.

Amber room is a great story, but I can't get past the tag teaming narration.

Kristy Neary agreed! if they just had an actual conversation about these topics it would be so much better, but it's too fancy and overproduced.
