We come here to say goodbye to Game of Thrones. While we're still going to get to play around in this universe courtesy HBO's numerous prequels, sequels, and spin-offs planned, and of course George's assurances that he's still writing, we're not going to get any more of this particular take on the story. How do we feel about this? Does The Last Watch documentary change those feelings? We discuss these and more before getting the final words from feedback. We'll see you all for "Fire & Blood" and the prequels!Gods of Thrones  is now 25% off!  Check out the preview chapter and then lock in the savings! In our penultimate podcast for HBO's Game of Thrones, we invite Gods of Thrones co-author Anthony Le Donne back to the studio to discuss how the book might resolve in ways that are consistent, but perhaps more satisfying, than some found the show's resolution. Then we're off to feedback, where we talk about Martin's progress on Winds, our thoughts on Bran the Broken, where things line up with Dany's prophecies in the final analysis, and much more on "The Iron Throne". See you next week as we sign off and transform the podcast into a Thrones prequels feed!If you're curious about the scene mentioned on the pod where Jon Snow talks about dragon psychology before he slips and falls.Gods of Thrones  is now 25% off!  Check out the preview chapter and then lock in the savings! 806 - The Iron Throne

Winter came and went, an evil queen was overthrown, and it was so nice we had to do it twice. "The Iron Throne" is Game of Thrones attempt to hurry up and tie up all those loose ends. Was it satisfying? That depends on how you've felt about the show for the past two seasons. Ultimately, this show's final moments and it's place in the pantheon of television will be a matter of hot debate for years to come, to say nothing of the novels and prequels and sequels we'll be getting, and how that may change and influence how we feel. Here, we're content to just talk about our personal thoughts on the only definitive finale of The Song and Ice and Fire. We'll be back Friday for more SpoiLore talk, and next week we'll have a look back at the season, and series, as a whole as we wrap things up for now.Game of Thrones may be over, but Bald Move's television year is just getting started! New seasons of hit shows such as Stranger Thingsand The Expansewill be returning as well as exciting new series such as Watchmen, and His Dark Materials. Jim and I try to sort through everyone's reactions and feelings about "The Bells", as well as people's reactions to our reactions! In a wide ranging podcast, we discuss what we're still hoping to see in next week's finale episode, what Dany's descent to madness means in the context of portrayals of heroic women, thoughts on capital punishment and vengeance, and defenses and deconstructions of Arya and Jaime's arcs. All this plus a ton of great feedback from you, the listener. Just one more episode left, we'll see you Sunday night to discuss!Gods of Thrones  is now 25% off!  Check out the preview chapter and then lock in the savings! 805 - The Bells

2019-05-1402:30:252

It's time to have a family discussion about Game of Thrones episode 805, "The Bells". Because we're all up in arms about it and we can't agree if it's the best, most satisfying episode or the worst ever. It's notoriously hard to be objective about a subjective opinion, but we try our level best. Our considered thoughts on Jaime's arc, the CLEGANEBOWL!!!!, Arya rejecting the call to vengeance, and the Mad Queen Daenerys await you -- if you dare! Then we don our asbestos underwear and wade into your feedback on this incredibly divisive episode of #DemThrones. We'll be back Friday for more thoughts on this episode and what it means for George Martin and his adaptation of the hit television series on the SpoiLore podcast. See you then!Gods of Thrones  is now 25% off!  Check out the preview chapter and then lock in the savings!  Jim and I are here to talk everyone through their complicated feelings about "The Last of the Starks", as well as to sit in judgment of the latest batch of fan theories. I lead a group therapy session, and struggle to come to grips with my conflicting thoughts on Dany's possible turn as heel, as Jim tries to steer me away from some unsound theory investments. Also, thoughts on the on-set secrecy of Game of Thrones and how it may have impacted the production this season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

804 - The Last of the Starks

2019-05-0702:18:292

As we announced last week, we've declared #FanBankruptcy, and are along for the ride on this saddleless dragon we call Game of Thrones. Keeping this in mind, it was nice to see this episode, "The Last of the Starks", run back to their roots in setting up some classic court politics and intrigue, with multiple betrayals and backstabbing in the offing! Jaime and Brienne hooked up! Pod is still very much the Rod! The Stark girls won grim smiles from the Hound! On the other hand, they're still struggling with the way they are telling the story they want to tell; characters die in unbelievable ways, and crucially characters then later live in completely unbelievable ways. With just two more episodes left, hopefully the Double D's haven't declared creative bankruptcy and we'll get a few twists and turns that manage to please most. Thanks to everyone who voted last week, we have released a preview chapter for our new book, Gods of Thrones! It's perhaps hard to wrap one's mind around what a pseudo-scholarly satirical take on the religions and cultures of Game of Thrones actually looks like, and now you don't have to guess. If you dig the preview and want to get to the owning a copy stage, volume one and volume two  are now available in paperback and e-book formats at Amazon!Last call for our exclusive "House Snow" enamel pins! You can also get the design printed on a rough and ready cotton t-shirt!Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

the fact that even these guys are in shock of the farce that was this ending really shows how bad the show ended up.

The dragon knew the throne cost Dany her life. Was not a great ending but the dragon melting the throne was pretty clear and obvious.

The idea of Greyworm on the council is ridiculous, he's been essentially the leader of Dany's genocide the last 2 episodes.

J. S. the show writers are shit, all the show great dialogues and stories from earlier season are picked from GRRMs works. remember they approached GRRM to make a show not other way round. GRRM knew this wouldn't work for 7-8 seasons, he asked for 10+ seasons but they refused. Now they want to milk the star wars series. Ride on someone's work and flush it down the drain.

Rick Wagner Actually that podcast is just riding on the popular hate bandwagon that was created by a small but vocal minority and that since has been jumped by a lot of people with no ability to reflect or think further than the edge of their bag of chips. I am astounded how people display so clearly their hatefulness, their stupidity and their sheer sheepdom, but then again I am not surprised at all. In the end it is still people, we are talking about. They are bloody dumb af. Go on praising a mediocre writer, that deliberately hasn't finished another book in a decade, because he got overwhelmed by his own requirements and has a stark inkling about how destructive and hateful people can be. He threw the show writers under the bus and people cheer him on for it, when all he ever did was just undermining his own arrogant stakes. The show creators have been hated upon since several seasons. What a grateful audience to be happy, they got ANYTHING at all, since the last books will never be published. If I were D&D, I would like to wrap this incomplete and convoluted mess that is the books, and especially after getting so much hate for several years now, up as fast as I could as well. I say I am happy for them that they are done with it now. And I sure as heck would include several Star Bucks cups and water bottles to ridicule all the over the top 'Fan Theorists could have written a better story' morons who analyse ears from trailers between seasons to further their far-fetched, senseless fan theory machine. Can YOU imagine creating something and you cannot please everyone and get death threats over it? You are responsible too, if people get suicidal. Several actors just came out with their mental health problems and people keep bashing and bashing and BASHING... it is fucking disgusting. Shame. Shame. Shame.

I'm sorry but you guys are sounding like that friend who's in love with an arsehole & when they finally see it everybody else is like hey well love really is blind, huh!? o_0 Dani has been betrayed by EVERYONE close to her, apart from Mesendai who has just been killed in front of her, & Grey worm. She asked Jon not to tell anyone about his parentage & he immediately defied her wishes. Tyrion is blatantly pushing his own agenda and not hers. She has been showing for a while that she will rule with an iron hand. killing all who do not bend to her. (Sam's family) She is not wanted as queen in the north. she's been becoming increasingly isolated over some time. Jon's betrayal ,honouring his Stark ties over his loyalty to her, & then rejection of her as a lover..combined with losing the one last person she trusted are just what would push her over the edge. She hasn't been the "one good person" for quite some time. increasingly ego driven, rule at all costs & more & more wanting to rule for herself not the people.

I don't mind twists but it has to make sense. This season jumps to the twists without the development. In the future when a show gets to final season people will say please don't d&d it.
