Gayish: 294 Camping

Gayish: 294 Camping

2022-08-1101:25:34

Camping. It’s a straight people thing, right? It’s dirty, has no amenities, no bars…. but then again, it’s always been kinda homoerotic. And more and more queer people are doing it. And there are gay campgrounds. So maybe it’s gayer than we think? In this episode: News- 8:09 || Main Topic (Camping)- 18:20 || Gayest & Straightest- 1:15:57 Our bonus segment will be delayed this week, but that’s because we’ll be bringing you an interview with someone who works at TRC, a gay campground in the Pacific Northwest! Get ready by signing up at the $5+/mo. level for this and our entire backlog of bonus segments, episodes, and Momsplainings.

Gayish: 293 Pegging

2022-08-0401:01:37

From the Pride48 live-streaming weekend, Mike and Kyle get into pegging! While its modern incarnation was from Dan Savage’s Savage Love column, it has historical roots that go way back before that. How as the definition evolved? Who is the #PrinceOfPegging? And how do we destigmatize butt stuff among straight guys? In this episode: Main Topic (Pegging)- 4:09 || Gayest & Straightest- 53:13 Our bonus segments come out every Friday on Patreon. You can join Patreon for as little as $2/mo, or get bonus segments for $5+/mo. Download bonus content at www.patreon.com/gayishpodcast or add the RSS feed to access on your podcatcher of choice.

Gayish: 283 Queer

Gayish: 283 Queer

2022-06-0201:32:48

Happy Pride!!  Love it or hate it, you probably recognize that the word Queer is here to stay.  For Pride month we're kicking off an entire month of episodes that have to do with the Q-slur.  But that word is not without controversy, and in this surprisingly serious episode we break it all down. In this episode: News- 4:24 || Main Topic (Queer)- 22:53 || Gayest & Straightest- 1:20:10 On the bonus Patreon segment, how should journalists use the words "dyke" and "fag"?  Also, the LGTBQs that didn't make the main episode.  Bonus content and other great perks available at www.patreon.com/gayishpodcast.

Gayish: 281 Left-Handedness

Gayish: 281 Left-Handedness

2022-05-1901:35:12

Left-handed? That’s how daddy rolls. Partially inspired by this tweet, we expand on the apt comparisons between LGBTQ people and left-handedness. Also, are left-handed people more likely to be queer? Are they smarter? Are they more talented? Why does society hate them? We do the right thing by talking left. (The history of left-handedness chart Kyle refers to early in the episode is in that tweet, if you want the visual.) In this episode: News- 2:32 || Main Topic (Left-Handedness)- 16:06 || Gayest & Straightest- 1:16:43 On the bonus Patreon segment, what does jerking off left-handed mean? Bonus content and other great perks available at patreon.com/gayishpodcast.
Most of us had to learn about gay sex alone, without anyone’s help. Dave Quantic from the podcast Fruitbowl joins us to talk about his sexual coming of age, like cruising when underage, what he’s learned from 60+ sex interviews, and his goal of normalizing conversations about queer sex. In this episode: News- 2:51 || Main Topic (Gay Sex)- 19:22 || Guest (Dave Quantic from Fruitbowl)- 24:21 || Gayest & Straightest- 1:03:06 On the bonus Patreon segment, we all share one (or two) of our first times, and Kyle explores more about Dave’s experience cruising when he was in high school. Get lots of great perks and support the show by joining at patreon.com/gayishpodcast.
In this mini episode, the on-going saga of Rep. Madison Cawthorn. Mike talks through his ethics investigation and his “roommate,” Stephen Smith. Kyle had never heard most of this, but especially not the honeymoon part! (Note: we'll still have a new, full-length episode coming out Wednesday for Patreon members and Thursday for everyone, so this is just a fun surprise bonus!)
Gayish: 278 Grilling

Gayish: 278 Grilling

2022-05-0501:33:501

When you think about it, grilling is the culmination of so many straight, masculine stereotypes: fire, meat, providing for the family. And, as we discover in this episode, it has a combination patriarchal, racist, and heteronormative roots. But still, a huge metal spatula is a great Gift for Him! TODAY, the day this episode comes out (May 5, 2022), is the last day to vote for us for best gay sex podcast in the Cybersocket Award! Vote at cybersocketawards.com (NSFW)! In this episode: News- 5:44 || Main Topic (Grilling)- 17:14 || Gayest & Straightest- 1:22:05 On the bonus Patreon segment, we look at what gay men said about grilling on an Ask Reddit segment that takes us to places you wouldn’t have expected. Support us for as little as $2/mo, and get this bonus segment (and access to all the bonus content we’ve ever recorded) for $5/mo. at www.patreon.com/gayishpodcast.
Gayish: 277 Pirates

Gayish: 277 Pirates

2022-04-2801:20:42

Pirates are so bisexual, we’re officially proposing renaming them birates. We talk about all the wonderful gay, bi, and poly things that go down on the Island of Tortuga, the historical gender-bending bisexual female pirates that formed a throuple with John “Calico Jack” Rackham, butt pirates, matelotage, Our Flag Means Death, and the terrifying reality of modern-day pirates (and what that has in common with gay stereotypes). We were nominated for a Cybersocket Award! Vote for us at cybersocketawards.com (NSFW)! In this episode: News- 4:07 || Main Topic (Pirates)- 16:36 || Gayest & Straightest- 1:10:46 Our next quarterly Patreon Happy Hour is on May 4th at 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern, and Gaytrons of any and all level are welcome to hang out with us! Join for just $2/mo. to get amazing benefits like this and to support independent LGBTQ content! Check out www.patreon.com/gayishpodcast for all the deets.
Flight attendant is the stereotypically gayest job, but does the data (I mean, gayta) say the stereotype is true? We talk about where the stereotype came from, the very first flight attendant (who was a dude and maybe gay?), the Supreme Court decision that paved the way for gay flight attendants (Diaz v. Pan American World Airways), and the most infamous gay flight attendant of all: AIDS/HIV Patient Zero, aka Gaétan Dugas. In this episode: News- 5:35 || Main Topic (Flight Attendants)- 20:24 || Gayest & Straightest- 1:18:01 On the Patreon bonus segment, we answer Google’s top flight attendant questions, such as “Do flight attendants get laid?” And remember to leave us a voicemail with your questions for Ma Johnson at 585-542-9474 (standard rates apply). Support us on Patreon at patreon.com/gayishpodcast.
This is the episode that gets us formally kicked out of the Catholic Church. For the last live show of our mini tour, we bring the foreskin to Seattle! We talk about a lot of topics, but the only ones you’ll remember are face cream and Jesus’ foreskin. In this episode: News- 6:49 || Main Topic (Foreskin)- 15:12 || Gayest & Straightest- 1:18:47 Starting next month, we're going to be doing short, monthly Momsplaining episodes for the $5+/mo Patreon members! Join at patreon.com/gayishpodcast, and be sure to leave us a voicemail with your questions for Ma Johnson at 585-542-9474 (standard rates apply).

I am green with envy that Mike traveled on the Trans Siberian train. I have seen video on YouTube about it and wish someday to also travel the train among other tourist train trips around the world. I am also a train lover. Love you turned the trip coming up into an episode into Gayish issues in Russia.
