Description

Welcome to the Letting Go Podcast hosted by George Poulos and Danny Torres. We are best friends, content creators, skateboarders, young adults navigating life, and more; we use this podcast to stay in touch and talk about what's on our minds. Topics often include (but not limited to) content creation and social media, skateboarding, growing up, mental health tips, creativity, and making the most of life. We strive to keep the conversations candid and honest in order to capture what it's really like to go through this confusing (but exciting!) phase of life. Thanks so much for tuning in! A conversation with my friend, fellow YouTube skater, & recurring podcast guest Danny Torres. In this episode, we reflect on our recent weekend skate mission to Boston filming for our street video. We also discuss quarantine friendships, going back to a skatepark for the first time since quarantine, working out/eating healthy, and the beautiful moments during a skate session when you're *not* skating. Kelly Wakasa is a 20 year old YouTuber with his own channel and a collaborative channel, Life of Luke and Kelly. When I found out Kelly was visiting NYC, I had to invite him to the studio for a conversation! Perhaps similar to many of you, I first became familiar with Kelly when he appeared in several Braille Skateboarding videos, the most popular skate channel on YouTube. In fact, Kelly and I have been mutual followers for a long time and even participated in a cross posting collab on YouTube a few years back! I talk with Kelly about connecting with Braille Skateboaring, the most popular skating channel on YouTube, Kelly's beginnings with his own skateboarding channel, how his channel evolved to become more of a more fully-faceted reflection of his life, plus his newer project, the Life of Luke and Kelly. We also discuss life as a recent 20 year old, adulthood vs childhood, deciding not to go to college, loneliness and friendship as a young adult, traveling, life goals/ambitions, and a lot more! Caroline Accatino is a 23 year old artist who just graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2019. She's currently indecisive about what her future holds (aren't we all?), which is partly why she works as a freelance artist WHILE holding down a 9-to-5. Caroline and I first met when she designed a clothing line for my brand, and we've been working together ever since. In this episode, I chat with Caroline about what she's going through, getting started as an artist, making money as an artist, freelance vs 9-to-5 life (and how to juggle both!), her artwork going viral on tiktok and resulting in a new freelance client base, designing tattoos, the college experience, the meaning of life, and more. (Warning: chaotic pisces energy ahead. & my aries energy makes it more chaotic somehow). It happens to be Caroline's birthday on the day of this episode release (March 12) so go wish her a happy birthday! In this episode I sit down in my bedroom podcast studio to chat with Matt Gresia, the 22 year old founder of Canswer Sock Co, about young adult life, quitting a safe job in order to pursue Canswer full-time, getting started with a small business, Matt's viral success on Tik Tok, and a lot more. Matt's brand, which is now his main career focus, sells socks to raise money for cancer research. Matt and I have been friends since we were both college students when our respective passions were simply side hustles. In fact, our clothing brands have released a few successful collaborations in the past! Now that we're both fresh into the adult life/self-employment grind, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to catch up and pick his brain. I think this episode does a great job of conveying the hectic & unsure, but fun & fulfilling nature of running a clothing brand. This is also the first episode I'm releasing under the new podcast name "Dropping in", which I'm so stoked about! Big shoutout to @nicolegureliart for creating the new podcast cover art, and to my followers on Twitter for helping me brainstorm name ideas. Thank you for tuning in to our conversation! Hi, I'm George! Since graduating college six months ago, I've been working full-time as a YouTuber, skateboarder, and clothing brand owner. About a month ago, I moved out of my parents place into my first apartment in Bushwick. My journey has recently coincided with that of Danny Torres, a fellow young adult with a lot of passion trying to figure sh*t out in his 20's. We've been skating, filming YouTube videos, and hanging out together on a regular basis for a few months now, and we're even neighbors since I moved to Bushwick. Danny Torres (quite recently!) dropped his past life in Florida and moved to NYC with no job and no plan besides following his passions of skateboarding & creating youtube videos. In this episode, I sit down with Danny in my (new!) bedroom podcast studio to discuss his and my own journey. We hit on a multitude of topics like how we became friends/neighbors, the social anxiety of vlogging, gaining traction on Tik Tok, making genuine friendships via Instagram, funny fan interactions, life in Bushwick, and so much more. Excitingly, this is my first podcast episode recorded in my new apartment! Nora and I graduated from Wesleyan University in May 2019. Just a few months after graduation, we managed to get a bunch of friends together to visit campus for homecoming and Halloweekend for some partying, good times, and emotions. In this episode, Nora and I just kind of talk about how it felt and try to process how it felt to re-visit the world we just departed, and one we are barely starting to accept as part of the past. This podcast is my new, just-for-fun creative experiment. I'm pretty sure I currently suck at podcasting, but my whole philosophy on creating (or any skill, really!) is just going for it and learning on the way. I'm excited to slowly get better at this new skill, and hope you find some enjoyment or insights along the way! My YouTube channel (my full time job!) is http://youtube.com/georgepoulos
