The final report on the McGrail Inquiry is likely to be ready by late spring 2025 - roughly a year since the public hearing. In the latest update on the report's progress, the inquiry team says additional evidence has been received, and that Chairman, Sir Peter Openshaw, continues to work on the draft. Meanwhile the Police Authority has started the process of recruiting a new Commissioner of Police to take over from Richard Ullger when he retires in April 2025. Today is World Diabetes Day - a day observed to increase the awareness of diabetes, a chronic condition that affects millions of people around the world. The World Health Organization and the International Diabetes Federation organise the event, which focuses on diabetes prevention, health risks, and managing and living well with condition. Kayron Pozo, Susan Edwards and Robin Sheppard-Capurro told us their experiences of living with the condition.Gibraltar face San Marino tomorrow in the penultimate game of their UEFA Nations League campaign. WBC Latin Silver Belt champion - Tyrone “El Bombero” Buttigieg made history this weekend by beating Venezuela’s Ernesto Martinez in San Roque. In his first-ever ten-round match, Tyrone’s grit and skill saw him win by unanimous decision. The numbers are in, the votes have been counted and it's now confirmed...satisfaction ratings across TV, Radio and News have seen a year-on-year increase since the first of three surveys launched in 2022. The public has given GBC the thumbs up, believing it serves and reflects all aspects of the community. 540 people took part in a survey carried out both online and face to face with record breaking results across GBC TV and Radio Gibraltar. GBC CEO James Neish and Head of Radio Ian Daniels broke down the statistics.Last night Gibraltar Cultural Services and the Gibraltar Scouts hosted a Bonfire Night at Little Bay car park to mark Guy Fawkes. Based on the success of the event it looks like it could be a staple in Gibraltar’s social calendar. Robin Sheppard-Capurro was there with his family and told us what the ambiente was like.And of course, there is another set of numbers that has us talking today – the US Election Results – which has seen Donald Trump return to the White House. At least 62 are known to have died after torrential rain caused devastating flash floods in Valencia south-eastern Spain. Spanish weather service AEMET reported that Chiva, in the Valencia region, recorded 491mm of rain in just eight hours on Tuesday - the equivalent to a year's worth of rain. Gibraltarian Jason Goldwin says it’s a sad day for his adopted city Valencia, which has been the worst hit by the flash floods.Whilst the worst of the weather has affected the southeastern Spain, Gibraltar has certainly felt the heavy rains too. Zoe Hutton from the Met Office explained what we can expect over the coming days.Cultural Services was "very saddened" that a mural was vandalised at Prince Edward's Gate, but is it part of a wider problem with graffiti and a lack of civic pride? We explored the topic with Janet Howitt of the Environmental Safety Group and Finlay Savignon Watson, who volunteers for the Nautilus Project.And, there are changes at the RGP, with both the Drugs Squad and the Community Police team being disbanded, due to resourcing issues. Gibraltar's Coroner's Court will open an inquest touching on the death of Simon Parkes, the sailor who disappeared in Gibraltar on the 12th December 1986. The Minister for Justice, Nigel Feetham, has given his consent. This follows a campaign by GBC Journalist Ros Astengo, with the support of lawyers acting on a pro-bono basis, to help bring justice for his family. Over the course of the morning the MET office issued a weather advisory for heavy rain from ten this morning until one tomorrow night. A separate heavy rain warning may be issued if the total rainfall is expected to be more than 50 millimetres in six hours. We spoke to Principal Meteological Officer, Katy Lowe.The Police Federation says a strong message needs to be sent out to anyone who believes they can use violence against emergency service and care workers with no more than a slap on the wrist. The police union says officers dedicate their lives to protecting the public and all they ask in return is to be protected in return. Chairman of the Police Federation, Calum Bruce, stressed this further in the studio.
