You can know every verse, sit through every sermon and still feel like something is missing. In "Information to Revelation," God Stories Radio looks at the journey from knowing facts about God to meeting Him for yourself. Information fills the mind, but revelation changes the heart. Job said it best: "My ears had heard of You, but now my eyes have seen You" (Job 42:5). When Peter declared that Jesus was the Christ, Jesus told him, "Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 16:17). This conversation is honest about the seasons when faith felt like head knowledge only, and about the moments that broke through: a word that came alive, a prayer answered in a way only God could, a truth you'd heard a hundred times that suddenly became yours. If you've ever wondered whether there's more to faith than what you've been taught, this episode is for you. In this episode: The difference between knowing about God and knowing God Why information alone doesn't change a life How revelation often comes through struggle, surrender and stillness Moving from second-hand faith to first-hand encounter God Stories Radio shares real stories of faith, struggle and hope, because every life has a God story. THE STORY OF GOD'S FAMILY Podcast based on The House Was Full Central Thesis The Bible is not simply a collection of 66 books containing unrelated stories about different people. It is one great story revealing who God is, what He wants from humanity, what went wrong with His creation, what He did to redeem it, and where He intends to take His children in the end. It truly is 'one story', and as such, the greatest story ever told. One of the clearest threads connecting that entire story is family. God creates. Humanity rebels. God pursues. God promises. God enters. God redeems. God adopts. God restores. The Bible begins with God and His human family together in creation. It ends with God and His redeemed family together in a restored creation. Everything between tells us how He brings His family home. 1. OPEN WITH THE QUESTION THAT STARTED THE BOOK Suggested Opening I didn't begin writing The House Was Full because I wanted to write another Christmas book. In fact, I've come to believe the book has very little to do with Christmas as a holiday. It has everything to do with a much larger question: Who is God... and what does He actually want from us? For much of my life, I carried another question: Who am I? My grandfather had been adopted into the Sullivan family, and that eventually led me into genealogy. I became fascinated with names, generations, family lines, and where I came from. But somewhere in that search I discovered something much more important than my earthly genealogy. My deepest identity wasn't found in a surname. It wasn't found in DNA. It wasn't found in an ancestral record. My deepest identity was found in relationship with God. I am His child. And once I began looking at the Bible through that lens, I started seeing something I could no longer unsee. Family is everywhere in the Bible. It is the theme that ties all the stories together in a clear and comprehensive understanding of God's plan for mankind. Hook Line "I went looking for my family tree and eventually discovered that the most important genealogy was the one that told me whose child I am." Transition That realization caused me to ask a question I had never seriously asked before: What happens if you read the entire Bible looking for family? Not merely marriages. Not merely children. Not merely genealogies. But: Father. Son. Children. Brothers. Sisters. Bride. Household.
Join us tonight as we welcome Mr. Robert Montero. What an amazing story from his childhood experiences with his father growing up, to present. An amazing story. Welcome.
We use the phrase "God loves you" so often that it has almost stopped meaning anything. It goes on bumper stickers and church signs. It gets said at funerals when nobody knows what else to say. And somewhere along the way it turned into background noise. In this episode I want to slow down and take it apart. Not the sentimental version — the real one. The kind of love that shows up before you have cleaned yourself up, that does not flinch at the parts of your story you would rather keep buried, and that does not run out when you fail again. [ONE PERSONAL STORY — 3 to 5 sentences. A moment you did not feel loved by God, or a moment His love reached you through another person. This is the single most important paragraph in the episode. Listeners forgive a rough recording. They do not forgive an abstract one.] We look at what Scripture actually claims about God's love — that it moved first, while we were still in the wrong (Romans 5:8), that it is not one of God's moods but His nature (1 John 4:8), and that nothing in your past or your future has the power to separate you from it (Romans 8:38-39). If you are carrying something you think has disqualified you, I hope you stay to the end of this one. WHAT WE COVER Why "God loves everyone" is easy to believe and "God loves me" is not The difference between being tolerated, being approved of, and being loved What God's love is not: not approval of everything you do, not the absence of hard seasons
Join me tonight as I welcome Glen and Charity to the show. Soft spoken and humble yet powerful stories.
