On this edition of Golf Today, Jordan Cornette and Eamon Lynch recap the past week in golf that was headlined by Harris English capturing the Farmers Insurance Open. He comes on the show with Ryan Lavner to discuss his first impressions of the upstart simulator golf league. Over in Hawaii, Hideki Matsuyama goes for two wins in a row. Todd Lewis checks in on the 2022 winner of the Sony Open at Hawaii, while also giving us a first look at some PGA TOUR rookies who have turned up to make the first start on their newly-earned cards. Our own Brad Faxon went wire-to-wire to win at Hualalai in 2001! The 8-time PGA TOUR winner joins us for a "Past Champions Chat" to look back at his dominant performance. Damon and Eamon are gearing up for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro- AM! 2019 U.S. Open Winner Gary Woodland joins the guys to reminisce on his victory at Pebble Beach. In his first tournament on the APGA tour 23 year old Kieron Van Wyck made history winning the Farmers Insurance Invitational. He became the first amateur golfer ever to win an APGA tour event since the tour began in 2010. He tells the guys what it took took to victory. Nicole Inakov joined the guys to discuss being paired with Ernie Els in the Pure Insurance Championship, and hitting an ace on hole 17 at Pebble Beach with Ernie watching. To close out the episode we hear from Rory McIlroy, who arrived at Pebble Beach this morning after his duel with Tiger in the TGL last night.
Yesterday in Hawaii, Hideki Matsuyama put on a clinic, winning the season opening Sentry for his 11th career PGA Tour win. His 35-under for the week is the lowest score to par in a 72-hole event. Damon and Eamon discuss Matsuyama's dominating performance and what another second place means for Morikawa. Our colleague Johnson Wagner also knows something about lifting a trophy in Hawaii. Back in 2012, he shot a 3-under 67 in the final round of the Sony Open for a two-shot victory. Johnson joins the show to reminisce on his victorious week and the upcoming PGA season.
