Description

Life is messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, happy, and everything in between. It’s those moments that help shape us, give us insight into who we are at our core, and hopefully help craft relationships that will last a lifetime. Events like loss, birth, marriage, graduation and so many more are like road markers along our personal paths, and things don’t always (for better or worse) go as planned. But it’s the story and the results that define who we are - and it’s those life-changing stories that will be coming to you this January with Jaj, who recently found herself a widow with 2 young kids, and Rylee, a budding entrepreneur whose big dreams and even bigger drive are being juggled with the adventure of being a newlywed. Their stories aren’t perfect, but that’s not what we’re here for. We’re learning as we go and hopefully, coming out better than we began. Listen to “Good As New” an imperfectly perfect podcast sharing the moments that break us and build us stronger.

Pearl Harbor was a really big day in America…not to be confused with the Boston Tea Party. But Jaj didn’t know that. We’ve all been there, right? That moment where you speak an internal thought out loud and you instantly know it’s not your finest moment. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Heck, we didn’t even know that Cincinnati wasn’t a state. So listen in as we share the dummest things you’ve ever said.Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! Hot Takes

Baths are better than showers, biker shorts are OVER, and we didn't initially like Taylor Swift's new song with Post Malone.  But these are just our hot takes. We asked you to share yours and they are piping hot takes! You submitted some harsh realities. Fire came and the earth was scorched leaving no one safe. Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! Join host Jennifer Vickery...Listen on: Apple Podcasts   Spotify
We live in a world that has so many incredibly good things, sweet drinks, cute clothes, and way too many other things that seriously tests our self control. So what if we had a little allergy? Not death-inducing, nothing requiring an epipen. A low-level allergy that would deter us from getting too much of a good thing. If we lived in a movie, it could even be a very manly, omnipotent voice that would stop us in our tracks as we reached for one more cookie or tells us to go to bed when we’re staying up to late. Are we on to something here? Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! Join host Jennifer Vickery...Listen on: Apple Podcasts   Spotify
In 13 Going on 30, 13-year-old Jenna Rink is an awkward girl whose only desire is to be “thirty, flirty and thriving.” She magically gets her wish granted, waking up in 2004 at the age of 30 and not remembering anything that has transpired over the course of the last 17 years. Jaj celebrated her 30th birthday this week and while there was no time warp to get there, she did reflect on what she hoped for in her 30s. We also asked all of you what you hoped for in your 30s and it was lovely to hear about these dreams. We also shared some of our makeup favorites::Rare Beauty Comfort hair and body mist and lotionAnastasia Brow FreezeCharlotte Tillbury lip liner in the shade Pillow TalkNudestixOur favorite medspa Maven Medical Arts is in the running for top medspa in Best of SLC. August 7th, 2020 started out as a beautiful day. Jazlyn and her husband Shad  took their friends and two of their sons for a ride in Shad’s plane to show off the beautiful county they live in from way up high. What started as a fun day with friends quickly took a turn as the plane literally fell from the sky. Guided by a still small voice, protected in prayer, and the first of many miracles to follow, every passenger made it out alive. But just barely. Nothing can ever prepare you for life after you survive a plane crash. In fact, Jazlyn still struggles to wrap her mind around what happened most days. But her story is one of compassion, true love and the real meaning of service. Join us as Jazlyn recounts the day that irrevocably changed her life and the lives of so many others.Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! **Trigger Warning** This episode discusses sexual assault. She has a well-known family and her children are beloved by so many. But Madison Fisher’s own experiences as a child who dealt with unwanted attention from adults and a survivor of sexual assault has made her a hyper vigilant parent and a voice for those without one. In our latest podcast episode, we engage in a deeply important and sensitive conversation about the crucial need to protect our children from sexual assault. The scars left by such experiences are not just physical, but deeply psychological, often shrouded in unwarranted shame and silence. It's vital to understand the immense courage it takes for victims to come forward, and the complex emotions they navigate. We delve into why it's essential to educate our children on the importance of speaking up, recognizing inappropriate behavior, and knowing they have a safe space with trusted adults. This episode is a call to action for all adults to be vigilant, supportive, and proactive in safeguarding our children's innocence and well being. Tune in to hear Madison’s powerful story. If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, please see the resources below:1. **Local Law Enforcement**: One of the primary steps can be reporting to the local police department. This is crucial for the possibility of criminal investigation and legal action against the perpetrator.2. **National Sexual Assault Hotline**: In the United States, individuals can contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) or use their online chat service. The hotline provides confidential support and can guide survivors through the process of reporting and seeking help.3. **Hospitals and Health Clinics**: Medical professionals can treat injuries, provide emergency contraception and STI prevention, and collect forensic evidence through a rape kit. They can also report the assault to the authorities with the victim's consent.4. **Victim Services Agencies**: Local or regional victim services agencies offer counseling, legal advocacy, and assistance in navigating the reporting process.5. **Schools or Universities**: For assaults that occur on campus or involve students, most educational institutions have a Title IX coordinator or a similar official responsible for handling reports of sexual assault and harassment.6. **Workplace Human Resources Department**: If the assault is related to the workplace or involves colleagues, reporting to the HR department can initiate an internal investigation and support processes. It's important for survivors to know they're not alone, and there are resources and individuals ready to support them through this process. Each country and region has specific services, so it's beneficial to look for local resources that can provide immediate and tailored assistance.Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! Everyday Etiquette

Everyday Etiquette

2024-01-2349:18

There's nothing worse than a person who isn't socially aware. You know the type: they use the treadmill next to you even when others are free, at the airport, they stand way too close to the baggage carousel,  and they don't use their blinker when driving. While we might be part of the problem (guilty of the very social faux pas we discuss in today's episode) we haven't got time for self-reflection – there's an event to plan and merch that might not be enough for everyone. Today's episode is a whirlwind tour of everyday absurdities and a reminder that life is weird, people are weirder, and sometimes, you just have to laugh about it.Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! What’s New With You

What’s New With You

2024-01-1654:54

Each week, we ask each other “what’s new with you?” We do this because it’s important to check in with your friends. Not only does it give your loved ones a chance to share what’s going on in their life, it tells the other person that you love them enough to ask about what they’re going through. So this week, it’s your turn. We asked you what’s new with you and you guys shared the good and the bad. The Good As New Community is a special one and we want you to know that we love you and we want to share in your highs and your lows. Even if you didn’t share, we invite you to listen in and to hug your people, and then hug them again - because you just never know what someone is going through.Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! 2024-01-1051:33

In the final days of 2023, social media was overrun with predictions for the year ahead that ranged from hemlines to dating red flags. These personal manifestos were shared as if we’re all paid for our opinions and trend-setting views but in truth, our ins and outs are simply a public declaration of what we’re no longer putting up with, how we’re promising to treat ourselves and others better, and our personal aspirations. And as always, at the top of our list is to hug your people…and then hug them again.Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! 1 Year Down

1 Year Down

2023-12-1947:16

One year ago tomorrow we started this podcast. Rylee was a super fresh newlywed and Jaj was deep in the trenches of loss after becoming newly widowed. We look back over the highs and the lows, our favorite episodes, and talk about how starting this podcast has been therapeutic and cathartic. We're healing, we're happy, and if this year has taught us anything it is to hug your people, and then hug them again. We love you.Got It From My MommaA podcast with the mommas of your favorite entertainers! Join host Jennifer Vickery...Listen on: Apple Podcasts   Spotify
