Description

Welcome to Good Bodies, a “wellness” entertainment podcast where all bodies are good bodies. If you’re still reeling from the toxic diet culture of the early 2000s (justice for Jessica Simpson) and constantly quoting your therapist, then Emily Lubin and Lauren Hope Krass are here to help you laugh (so you don’t cry). Diets can’t sit with us anymore but there’s a place at the table for body neutrality, body positivity, intuitive eating, and hot takes about which non-dairy creamer pairs best with our sharp cheddar cheese omelettes. For more Good Bodies content and the most relatable shit on the internet, follow us on Instagram at @everythingsfine.

On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren rave over Nicola Coughlan’s recent reply to a reporter about her so-called bravery with baring her body on screen. She said “It is hard ’cause I think women with my body type, women with perfect breasts—we do not see ourselves onscreen enough.” Go off, Nicola!! This leads into a conversation about the need for more body diversity in TV and Film. Lauren tells us about her foray into TV Writing where she was trying to do just that with her original pilot “Fat With Standards.” Is “fat funny best friend” the best plus size actors can hope for amongst the other choices of villain, parent, grandparent, creep, joke or sad person on diet? We don’t think so! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren start things off by reviewing their current sunscreen practices while scratching their heads over this new “wellness” trend of skipping out on the spf altogether. Thankfully, aesthetician, spf advocate and founder of Dieux Skincare, Charlotte Palermino is here to answer all our burning questions. Can spf be harmful? Why does Europe have all the good stuff? How can I make sure I’m buying authentic European sunscreen if I want to go that route? Do I really need to reapply throughout the day? Get your pens and paper out because Charlotte came to slay with facts and specific recommendations for all of the above and more! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren are bringing you some fresh Self Care Shares. Emily is finding new fun ways to explore her alcohol free journey with kombucha and a jacked up Arnold Palmer. Lauren shares that she’s secretly (not anymore!) started taking Ubers to the subway ever since they closed down a subway entryway in her neighborhood. It’s a little treat that makes a big difference in her overall week albeit a bit extravagant. She reminds us of one of her favorite phrases “If you have a problem that can be solved with money, you don’t have a problem, you have an expense.” This leads into a quick chat about girl math and how sometimes it’s okay to give ourselves permission to have something special. On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren are talking all about the new Pink Pilates Princess trend and how it seems to be less about exercise and more about selling us things. They discuss Tiktok’s newest obsession with “pilates arms” and our lovely co-hosts are a bit skeptical. Does Miley Cyrus have “long lean pilates arms” or is she just… Miley Cyrus? This leads into a conversation about how exercise programs will often promise unrealistic and specific physical results regardless of one’s genetics or resources. The two also talk about the phenomenon of a shared worry many women have of “not wanting to get too buff.” Do people know what it actually takes to get “too buff”?? On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren are reviewing South Park’s newest movie “The End Of Ob*sity” which delves into the current cultural conversation around semaglutide injectables. Yes, South Park is a ridiculous and oftentimes offensive cartoon for adults… but do they make some valid points in this special? One of the running jokes they make is that “Rich people get Ozempic. Poor people get Lizzo.” Lauren especially has some thoughts on this and yes, we do enter the abyss of “Lauren’s conspiracy corner” for just a bit. A message from Emily and Lauren: Okay we love you but please stop making us watch this stuff. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren start things off with their advice segment. A listener writes in who has joined a fitness program which has accidentally reactivated some disordered thinking and eating. She joined because the trainer was super friendly and because they advertise body positive language. Do wellness programs have a responsibility to get the vocab right when it comes to terminology like “guilt-free eating”? If a calorie deficit is still being encouraged, is it really guilt free? This prompts a conversation about how confusing it can be to navigate wellness programs and the fitness industry as someone in search of true weight neutral care. The two close us out with a vocab lesson and tips on what to look out for. Thanks Emily and Lauren! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren are bringing you a Wellness Check all about their recent experiences with group fitness classes. Lauren recaps an aqua zumba class she recently attended where all the participants were plus size. Heaven is a place on earth and it's in a pool with fellow fat babes?? Then, Emily shares how bored she is with her current workout routine and she even muses about joining Lauren for one of her plus size group fitness classes. The event group is called “Power Plus Wellness” and before each class they make sure to say “All shapes and sizes are welcome here but we are plus size focussed.” Should Emily join in or should it be a protected fat space? Why can’t there be more body positive fitness spaces plus size focussed or not? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren start things off by discussing their opinions on elective plastic surgery. Bodily autonomy is important but are we forgetting to ask investigative questions such as… Is the male gaze playing a role? A self proclaimed member of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee ™ ,Emily shares what it was like to grow up with a mom who had larger boobs and reveals some shocking new information. Then, they welcome comedian and musician, Rachel Green to the show who has recently decided to have breast reduction surgery for medical and self care reasons. Currently at a J cup, Rachel reveals that she’s already feeling some pre-grief about something that has been such a big part of her life; pun intended. She goes on to share how she came to this decision as well as the ins and outs of getting it approved, what the surgery will entail and what after-care will look like. Who are we without our defining physical traits? @the1rachelgreen Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren have a charged conversation about an Indiana judge’s recent ruling that a taco is indeed a sandwich. Um… is everyone okay? Then, they close us out with a Self Care Share all about skincare. Turns out just taking off your makeup doesn’t quite qualify as a skincare routine but nobody told Lauren. Emily doles out some much needed advice about starting small and the importance of spf. Lauren shares her newfound love for French skincare products and advises to not overthink it, “Just buy some fancy sh*t, put it on your sink and goop it on your face sometimes.” Wise words. On today’s debut episode of Good Bodies, Emily and Lauren announce the new name of the podcast. See ya never, diets! Then, they review Oprah and Weight Watcher’s most recent special “Making The Shift” which was basically made as a response to the response of their original special on ABC “Shame, Blame And The Weight Loss Revolution” Did you get all that? This episode functions as a sequel to “Oprah-Zempic” which aired 3/31/24. Right off the bat, both Emily and Lauren share how different this special felt; it was much less of a glorified infomercial for glp1s and more of a conversation from multiple perspectives about the ways in which diet culture has harmed us. We’re giving credit where credit is due but also shining a light on the ways in which the special was lacking. Can a body size really be a disease? Why aren’t we talking about weight neutral care? What does making the shift actually mean? Sources: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8560549/ Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Lauren provides Emily with an update on her gym journey while sharing an elaborate theory she has on the 3 phases of working out. How can we tell if we are actually working out for health and not to shrink ourselves? Then, they close on a Dear DST from a listener who is struggling to accept her thin, fine hair. Is it possible to be body neutral even if you hate how your hair looks in a certain photo? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Diet Start Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren review a strange new trend on social media where people are joking about having just an iced coffee for breakfast or an espresso martini for dinner. What is the punchline here, people?? Then, they launch into a Food-Pinion segment brought to you by Impossible Foods where Lauren declares Impossible meatballs to be just as good if not better than regular meatballs. Sure, this is a branded segment but Lauren is prepared to die on this meatball hill. Finally, the two close us out by reviewing Sam Smith’s bold statement on the Met Gala’s red carpet about the need for more inclusive sizing. A clip of this moment was posted to the Everything’s Fine Instagram page and it REALLY pissed off some internet trolls (go to therapy plz, internet) but SZA clapped back at the fatphobia in the comment section. Thank you SZA, please come on the show, we love you! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Lauren gives Emily an update on her return to the GYM. Even though there was some anxiety about working out in public as someone in a bigger body, Lauren was pleasantly surprised that people at the gym really couldn’t care less. Praise be. We close the episode out with Lauren reviewing her gym goalz which include improved mood, energy, sleep, longevity and more power when it comes to the bane of her existence, subway stairs. Turns out there are plenty of reasons to work out that aren’t weight loss; wish someone told us when we were teens! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren are so thrilled to welcome published author, lawyer turned journalist and Real Housewife Of New Jersey, Jackie Goldschneider to the podcast! She walks us through her many phases of restrictive eating habits which eventually led to a serious case of anorexia. Now in recovery, Jackie shares how she’s been able to better enjoy and experience her life while also commiserating about how it can be triggering to see many of her friends now making the choice to take weight loss drugs. Finally the three close on a fun game of “I’d Try It / I Don’t Buy It” when it comes to the current “wellness” trends. Thank you again Jackie for being so open and vulnerable! On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren are chatting about lipid panels and all the feels that come up when you have to get your blood drawn. Don't worry, according to Lauren's therapist, it's normal to feel like your 8 year old self when the needles come out. Then, they talk about taking vitamins and how epically confusing it all is especially for women in their 30’s who want to stay on top of their health. Finally, they close us out with a Taste Test of some allegedly nutrient dense chewable vitamins. (No, not gummies unfortunately.) Tune in to hear their reactions to what it actually tastes like to chew on some turmeric and ginger. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren discuss Billie Eilish’s recent interview with Rolling Stone where she talks about how she uses sex to decompress, either with a partner or solo. This leads into a discussion about the public's pervasive and CREEPY obsession with overanalyzing the bodies of pop stars. There’s a reason why Eilish is known for her oversized looks, and it’s not just because they’re trendy af. Nobody is off limits including Lana Del Rey, Selena Gomez, and even Taylor Swift, and let's not forget every millennial woman’s Roman Empire, the iconic tabloid photo of Jessica Simpson in high-waist jeans. Emily and Lauren talk about how this gave us all a collective sense of dysmorphia, and close on how it specifically has affected their own senses of self. Learn more about your ad choices. On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Lauren shares a life-altering Self Care Share with Emily about her decision to leave college comedy shows in the past. How do we know if we’re doing something because we actually want to or if it’s because we like the image of it all? Then, Emily shares a recent uncomfortable moment from a family seder where a loved one referenced her weight loss in an inappropriate fashion. What’s the best way to navigate these sticky situations while also showing compassion for ourselves in the moment? Finally the two discuss the choice to not restrict or fast for certain religious holidays if you’ve struggled with eating disorders in the past. Is that okay? Spoiler: yes. On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren welcome registered dietician Jenna Werner to talk all about dairy intolerance and colostrum, the hottest new "wellness" trend. What even is colostrum and do we *actually* need it? Are you more prone to lactose intolerance if you were raised in a dairy-free household? Is it okay to have soy milk in your coffee but cheese on your eggs? Thankfully, Jenna answers all these questions and provides some much needed levity for navigating the ever-evolving wellness trends we see on social media. Learn more about your ad choices. On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren recap HBO Max’s “Brandy Hellville & The Cult Of Fast Fashion” This brand has been a hot topic of discussion on this very podcast in episodes past and now it’s a cultural conversation so of course we had to dive in. The two discuss how the documentary brilliantly utilizes the zeitgeist of Brandy Mellville to help educate viewers on the horrors of fast fashion. Beyond that, we learn about the racist, antisemitic, fatphobic and sexist business practices that the owner utilizes. The two point out the brand’s evil genius methods of how they were able to bottle and sell the specific feminine teenage desire of belonging. So now what do we do? Tune in! On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Lauren starts things off by sharing some romance and dating epiphanies she’s been having with Emily. Then, they bring in professional dating coach and published author, Lily Womble, into the conversation who provides some much needed validation for Lauren (and all of us??) as well as some helpful tips when it comes to the seemingly tragic world of dating. Lily’s approach is centered on feminism, leading with confidence and embracing our “too much” of it all. Finally, we close on some listener submitted questions on dating. something about this Tanya Zuckerbrot lady rubs me the wrong way. it feels more like she's selling a product than she is advocating for a healthy lifestyle. also calling major BS that this isn't restrictive--this diet (weight loss method, not philosophy *cue eyerolling*) is restrictive AF. do appreciate the interviewer poking some holes (though she keeps getting interrupted and talked over, unfortunately).
