Whether it's a passion project, a mental health outlet, or simply for fun, creativity is a vital part of our well-being and a deep connection to the inner child. But in today’s world, where endless trends and viral moments dominate our feeds, it’s easy to lose sight of why we started creating in the first place. What if you let go of the pressure to "sell" or go viral? Discover how reconnecting with the pure essence of your art – untainted by external expectations – can lead to more fulfilling, authentic creative experiences. There’s limitless value of creating art for yourself – it’s essential to nourish that unique expression. This is your reminder to unlearn the damaging idea that your art’s worth is determined by likes, shares, and outside validation.Tune in and reclaim your creative freedom – because your art, in its truest form, is already priceless. In today’s episode, I dive into the delicate balance of maintaining a positive mindset without falling into the trap of toxic positivity. Being positive doesn't mean pretending everything is okay—doing so can invalidate your emotions and lead to unnecessary guilt and shame. Instead, it’s about acknowledging and feeling your emotions fully before choosing to shift your perspective toward a more optimistic view.Together, we will explore how to truly check in with yourself, experience your emotions without judgment, and reframe situations with a fresh perspective. I discuss the importance of having a solid support system—those friends who will validate your feelings but also offer honesty and compassion when needed. A fresh perspective is always helpful.I’ll also share a personal story about a recent challenge I faced (spoiler: my permesso (permission to stay in Italy) didn’t last until I got my citizenship!), and how, after letting myself feel the frustration, I reframed it into gratitude. If you’ve ever struggled with balancing authentic emotions and staying optimistic, this episode is for you. Learn how to stop suppressing feelings and avoid toxic positivity, while embracing gratitude and a healthier mindset.Tune in now to discover how to navigate life’s emotional rollercoasters while maintaining genuine positivity. In this episode, I dive into a transformative practice that is #1 on my recommendation list for mental/emotional well-being: the power of gratitude. I talk about the story of how I first discovered gratitude & how it significantly changed my life. I share different ways to practice gratitude and how one of them taught me to stop and take a moment to appreciate the beauty around me. I also discuss the incredible impact of using a gratitude journal as a tool for personal reflection. I like to call it “personal data collecting.” By journaling about the people, small moments, and experiences that bring you happiness, you create a powerful record of positivity in your life. It’s like tracking your own joy and well-being, which can provide a huge boost when life feels overwhelming. The key takeaway: LOOK for the good. When you know you’ll be reflecting on your day, your mind shifts to actively seeking out moments to be thankful for. Whether big or small, it helps you notice the positive moments more clearly. It’s so easy to do – even in your head, you can list five things you’re grateful for, and instantly, your perspective changes.Tune in to learn how these simple practices can change your mindset, improve your mood, and help you appreciate life’s everyday treasures. This episode is packed with insights on gratitude, mental well-being, and the power of mindful reflection. Don't miss out on these practical tips that can help shift your perspective for the better.  Get full access to Feel & Heal at guidancewithgab.substack.com/subscribe

In this episode, we dive into the two types of motivation we experience—and how to manage the lack of it! First, we tackle the things we need to stay motivated for, like healthy eating, breathwork, hitting the gym, or showing up for work. These are the essential tasks that require discipline, even when we don’t feel like doing them. Then, we explore the opposite side—the things we want to do, like passion projects, creative endeavors, or pursuing love interests. These are the activities that should bring us joy, but when we don’t see the energy we expect (or worse, receive nothing in return), motivation can dwindle fast.In this episode, I share how to navigate the space when motivation is lost and how to embrace acceptance—trusting that what we put into the world will eventually come back. We’ll talk about reframing your perspective on motivation, zooming out to see the bigger picture, and making life more fun and fulfilling. I’ll also dive into the importance of remembering your why and reconnecting to the root of your motivation to fuel your journey.I also discuss the Universe’s timing and how it often differs from our own. When you put something out there, you can’t predict how or when it will return—whether it’s in the form, shape, or timing you expect. The key is to trust that it will come back, even if it’s not in the way you imagined.Stay tuned until the end for an accidental mini motivational speech on why you should never give up—you deserve to keep going! This episode is all about being a student in life. Oftentimes, we want to teach others & enforce our mindsets onto them. But wouldn't it be more effective if we surrendered and became the best version of us to naturally lead by example? You aren't here to be their teacher, you are here to be a student of life.Join me as I discuss the liberating truth that people enter and exit our lives like chapters in a grand novel, each imparting invaluable lessons before gracefully bowing out when their role is fulfilled. It is this reminder that sometimes when people leave your life, the lesson that you needed has been learned. Further discussed is the separation between people and our relationships to/with them. By creating the mental separation, we allow ourselves to bring the power back to ourselves. Is it the person that was your greatest teacher, or is it the relationship to them & the lessons learned through that connection that is the greatest teacher? Empower yourself by reclaiming the lessons as your own. As some of you may know, last year I moved from America to Italy for 6 months. With a drastic change of that measure, there of course lies layers of lessons. In this episode I dive into some profound lessons learned from trading the "American Dream" for an Italian adventure. In this episode, I unravel the complexities of cultural immersion and discuss the contrast between the ease of living in America and the adjustments needed to reside in Italy.Through my adventures I have learned that your mind is a relentless traveler, accompanying you across oceans and continents, shaping your experiences in unexpected ways. It doesn't matter where you run to or where you try to hide, your mind is always with you.I also dive into the intricacies of maintaining friendships across the pond, unveiling the bittersweet reality of distance and the power of connection- you must water the relationships you wish to grow.Amongst a few more lessons, resides my most powerful- the idea of accessibility and ease that comes with a life in America. Here, if you want it you get it. In the small Italian town I lived in, that certainly was not the case. I had to re-learn not to over-indulge or be gluttonous as I made my way back to America where options are aplenty. Join me in this very fun & very personal episode! If you're an avid listener, you know I need to embrace the fire side of me just as much as the soft side. Some people can feel angry & meditate back to neutral. For me- it's necessary to fully feel the anger (it's a normal emotion just like happy & sad) & then transform it rather than suppress it.I talk about the commonly misunderstood emotion of anger. Anger is a natural response to perceived threats or injustices, but when left unchecked, it can lead to destructive behavior and strained relationships. By learning to recognize and manage our anger, we can harness its energy for positive change. I discuss the importance of anger and give some very practical tools on what to do when anger arises. This episode leans heavily into using the anger (safely) versus using toxic positivity & calmness to wash it over. Whether you struggle with chronic anger or simply want to learn how to navigate occasional flare-ups more effectively, this episode offers valuable insights and guidance for anyone seeking to harness the fire within.
