Gauging up to systems is not always necessary but if you do, it's best not to lose refrigerant in the process if at all possible. Using low loss fittings, ball valves, gas retention valves or other can help with this.

when you lose a tool in an attic, it's the attic monster that stole it from you. also, went from 11 years resi install to 3 years in commercial service and still one of my favorite newer tools is dewalts newer metal skill saw. can cut just about anything. it's righteous.
