Description

Ryun Chang (PhD, Fuller) has been in ministry since 1982 during which time he had the privilege of serving the Lord as pastor, teacher and missionary (Mexico). For the past ten years, he has been serving as the Teaching Pastor of Acts Ministries International (AMI), a consortium of pan-Asian churches in several states and East Asia.

His published works are: "Manual de Misionología" (Editorial Continental, 2005); "Theologizing in the Radical Middle" (Wipf & Stock, 2018); contributor to "Reshaping of Mission in Latin America" (Regnum Books Int'l, 2015). Upon seeing how COVID is altering the mode through which people learn, he decided to record the many things the Lord has taught him over the years and share them with the larger audience. Thanks for tuning in. God bless.

476? AD 476 to be exact! Okay, why is that date so important? Whatever happened that year to the once mighty Western Roman Empire WILL happen to the American Empire. It's not a matter of if but when. And I am making the case that this may happen to America a lot sooner than later. I believe that Saint Augustine would agree with me on this one.
Consider the question of when—if ever—Christians should support war. As an application, this vlog examines the current war against Iran.
Yes, many of us assume we’re too smart to fall for conspiracies. Think again. Some conspiracies have, in fact, turned out to be real. In this vlog, I explore two that I consider plausible: not only the ongoing anti‑ICE protest, but also the question of why so many non‑U.S. citizens were allowed into the country illegally during the Biden era. These may be more connected than they appear. Ultimately, I raise the question of their relevance to the church.
In this vlog, you’ll hear from real people from Mexico—some living here without legal status, some who have been deported, and others who chose to return voluntarily. These are stories you won’t hear on CNN or FOX. What emerges through their voices is a picture of a God who stands above illegal immigration, deportation, and even the American Dream itself.
When I first heard a guest on a CNN program say it, the words felt almost foreign to me. Why? Because culturally sensitive Christians like us don’t usually speak that way. Speak what way? Well, you’ll have to watch my vlog to find out.The backdrop, of course, is the escalating situation in Minneapolis—ICE attempting to detain those who entered the U.S. illegally, and anti‑ICE protesters fiercely resisting them. Two protesters have already been killed in ICE‑related shootings, and tensions are only rising.
This vlog tackles the question of whether the Bible—and Acts 4:32–35 in particular—advocates socialism. At first glance, the passage seems to echo core socialist themes: the disappearance of private property, redistribution of resources, and economic equality across the community. But a closer look shows something quite different. Let’s walk through that together in this vlog.
Situations in Minnesota are escalating by the minute. Recently, a Sunday service at a church much like mine (evangelical) was interrupted by anti -ICE protesters who claimed they were imitating Christ’s cleansing of the temple. As Christians, we need to ask how we should think about a moment like this—one that touches on national borders, those who entered the U.S. illegally, law and order, compassion, and much more. If we don’t slow down to think biblically and carefully about such a volatile issue, we may find ourselves echoing the loudest political voices around us, whether from the right or the left. This is my attempt to engage the moment with both clarity and grace.
So why does socialism appeal to certain Christians? Who are these people? They may be much closer to you than you think. But why? Is it really because of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot—the radical socialists responsible for the deaths of millions in the name of the workers’ revolution? Really? If not, then who—or what—is shaping this attraction? That’s what this vlog is here to explore.
Socialism’s wave may or may not crash over the nation by the time a second Trump presidency is in the books. But the current surge of socialist sentiment—and the mood of the country—suggests we’d be foolish to bet against it. Christians have a long track record of showing up late to the cultural moment. We react only after the damage is done. This series exists to break that pattern. I want believers—especially leaders—to be ready before socialism’s promises start captivating our young and often untested believers.
On this date--April 20th--five years ago Dr. Johann Kim passed away in Athens, Greece. My wife and I were there with him and his wife Grace when he went to be with the Lord. So, in remembrance this amazing man of God, I prepared this short vlog to remind us of all to live and die like Dr. Johann.
This vlog briefly looks at evolutionary psychology and how its understanding of ethics and morality gives grounds for devastating human behavior.
Too many people simply assume that what science promulgates is the unvarnished truth. But there is something that precedes science that influences how scientists will choose to interpret the data. What's that?
Good Friday, Easter Sunday but what about the Saturday in between during which time Jesus was in the state of death for the entire day? Where did he go? What does this imply for a lot of us?
I respond to the question, "Why should I believe the Bible when there are other sacred books?"
While talking about sanctification, I briefly consider spiritual differences between in-person worship and online worship.
Several years ago, before I got up to speak at a conference, the hosting pastor introduced me as Dr. PowerPoint. Yes, I heavily rely on this tool to communicate God's message. So, is that all good? That depends. In this vlog I imagine what may happen to my PowerPoint slides on the Day of Judgment.
I share one unforgettable moment in my life when the Lord exposed the motives of my heart in ministry. Ouch!
The three typical ways in which we use the cross against the instruction that came with it.
