Hello welcome! Decided to take a minute this week to reflect on the last 4 and a half years of the show and do a little deep dive into what are, in my opinion, our top 10 most important episodes. "Important" meaning episodes that we talked about often that felt like game changers in different ways: Creative growth, audience growth, and personal growth.I'm sure many will feel different and have their own picks, but these are the ones that I believe Bo and I would both would have picked. Hope you enjoy this unique solo deep dive before we post back to back to back episodes of pure HEAT coming up.__________HardLore: A Knotfest Series, fueled by Monster Energy.Shot, edited and mixed by Steven Grise Title sequence by Nicholas Marzluf • Join the HARDLORE PATREON to watch every single weekly episode early and ad-free, alongside exclusive monthly episodes• Join the HARDLORE DISCORD __________00:00 - Start02:20 - Honorable Mentions16:57 - Number 10: HauntLore Salem (With Kurt Ballou)19:53 - Number 9: Justice Tripp (Trapped Under Ice/Angel Du$t)23:09 - Number 8: Bryan Garris (Knocked Loose)26:16 - Number 7: Fast Food Tier List30:39 - Number 6: Vinnie Stigma (Agnostic Front)34:49 - Number 5: HardLore Jeopardy39:00 - Number 4: Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed)41:07 - Number 3: Parris Mayhew (Cro-Mags)46:21 - Number 2: Davey Havok (AFI)51:57 - Number 1...
Let the chaos begin... In March of this year, Bo and I had an idea to let the viewers decide on our next bracket episode (since you're never happy with the bands we pick) and this was the result. The top 64 bands, as voted by YOU! Every matchup was random in our first ever truly unpredictable live tournament challenge.I'm joined by Joey Chiaramonte from Koyo, alongside Alec Faber & Taylor Young from Twitching Tongues/God's Hate to determine a winner in real time in our first ever in-person bracket episode.__________HardLore: A Knotfest Series, fueled by Monster Energy.Shot, edited and mixed by Steven Grise Title sequence by Nicholas Marzluf • Join the HARDLORE PATREON to watch every single weekly episode early and ad-free, alongside exclusive monthly episodes• Join the HARDLORE DISCORD • Get 15% off TIMELESS COFFEE site-wide and grab a bag of my favorite beans and the best vegan cookies I’ve ever had• Get 10% off MILLS VINTAGE site-wide with code HARDLORE._________00:00:00 - Start00:01:51 - The Chaos Begins...00:02:37 - Deftones vs. Ween00:04:06 - Snapcase vs. Gallows00:05:59 - Haywire vs. Title Fight00:07:01 - Converge vs. Fall Out Boy00:08:09 - Drug Church vs. Blacklisted00:09:14 - Black Breath vs. Propaghandi00:10:48 - Arkangel vs. Bolt Thrower00:12:09 - The Acacia Strain vs. Poison Idea00:13:13 - 7A7P vs. Mastodon00:14:07 - The Cure vs. Paramore00:16:11 - ETID vs. Meshuggah00:19:38 - Section 8 vs. Bad Religion00:20:41 - Power Trip vs. Neglect00:22:22 - AFI vs. Death00:24:26 - Lifetime vs. Jimmy Eat World00:25:21 - Refused vs. Weird Al Yankovich00:27:10 - Steeley Dan vs. Candlemass00:28:15 - The Animals vs. On Broken Wings00:30:35 - Alice In Chains vs. Eighteen Visions00:32:16 - Alkaline Trio vs. Primus00:34:13 - Tool vs. Poison The Well00:36:29 - Candiria vs. Fight Everyone00:37:24 - Skinless vs. The Rival Mob00:39:11 - Mindsnare vs. Oasis00:40:10 - Thrice vs. NOFX00:41:35 - Rush vs. Hum00:43:19 - Dillinger Escape Plan vs. Shai Hulud00:43:26 - 1975 vs. The Smiths00:45:19 - Mills Vintage vs. Timeless Coffee00:47:24 - Tragedy vs. Neurosis00:48:36 - The Beatles vs. 10800:49:24 - Thin Lizzy vs. Botch00:50:31 - Glassjaw vs. Nile00:53:30 - Ween vs. Snapcase00:54:03 - Title Fight vs. Converge00:55:35 - Black Breath vs. Blacklisted00:57:55 - Bolt Thrower vs. Poison Idea01:01:13 - Mastodon vs. The Cure01:01:25 - ETID vs. Bad Religion01:02:32 - Neglect vs. AFI01:03:17 - Jimmy Eat World vs. Weird Al01:04:06 - Candlemass vs. The Animals01:04:52 - Alice in Chains vs. Primus01:06:12 - Tool vs. Candiria01:07:11 - NOFX vs. Hum01:07:27 - Dillinger Escape Plan vs. The Smiths01:07:33 - Neurosis vs. The Beatles01:08:39 - Glassjaw vs. Thin Lizzy01:09:44 - Ween vs. Converge01:10:06 - Black Breath vs. Poison Idea01:10:30 - The Cure vs. Bad Religion01:11:25 - AFI vs. Jimmy Eat World01:15:12 - Candlemass vs. Alice in Chains01:16:23 - Candiria vs. Oasis01:18:29 - Hum vs. The Smiths01:19:54 - Neurosis vs. Thin Lizzy01:20:52 - Converge vs. Poison Idea01:22:17 - The Cure vs. AFI01:23:46 - Candlemass vs. Oasis01:26:27 - The Smiths vs. Neurosis01:30:45 - Converge vs. AFI01:32:03 - Oasis vs.The Smiths01:32:26 - FINALS
This week we're joined by vocalist Ross Farrar & guitarist Anthony Anzaldo of the great CEREMONY...From childhood friends to lifelong bandmates, we learn all about their individual introductions to punk and hardcore music and how that eventually lead to the fateful formation of now legendary bay area hardcore band, Ceremony. From the aggressive hardcore origins of their demo, first 7", and first 2 LPs, to their first big evolution and breakout Rohnert Park, all the way to their newest (and possibly best) album Tell Me Your Dream, we discuss everything in between, and the many "Gauntlets" in between that got us here.A thoroughly fun, fascinating inside look at what is truly one of the defining underground bands of the last 20+ years. Enjoy this monumental 3 hour chat.___________ HardLore: A Knotfest Series, fueled by Monster EnergyEdited by Steven Grise Title sequence by Nicholas Marzluf• Join the HARDLORE PATREON to watch every single weekly episode early and ad-free, alongside exclusive monthly episodes!• Join the HARDLORE DISCORD! • HardLore Official Website/HardLore Records store• Get your passes & tickets to AFTERSHOCK FEST to see the craziest lineup to maybe ever hit Sacramento!• Get 10% off MILLS VINTAGE site-wide with code HARDLORE.____________00:00:00 - Start00:02:00 - CEREMONY00:04:52 - Rohnert Park, California00:12:46 - Ross & Anthony's First Bands (Hammer Time)00:17:31 - The Origin of Ceremony00:28:39 - RUINED 7"00:43:17 - VIOLENCE VIOLENCE01:01:14 - Pardon This Interruption...01:03:27 - SCARED PEOPLE EP, Signing to Bridge Nine01:12:28 - STILL NOTHING MOVES YOU01:23:15 - ROHNERT PARK01:38:39 - Rohnert Park Live at the Hollywood Palladium01:46:14 - Signing to Matador01:50:43 - The List of Every Ceremony Show Ever01:53:02 - ZOO02:10:08 - THE L-SHAPED MAN02:14:58 - Ross Goes Back To School02:19:43 - Reception To L-Shaped Man02:30:21 - Relapse Records & IN THE SPIRIT WORLD NOW02:39:18 - How Ceremony Handled 2020, Almost Breaking Up02:43:16 - TELL ME YOUR DREAM (CEREMONY'S BEST RECORD?)02:58:01 - Misconceptions of Ceremony03:05:00 - Top 4 Hardcore Records
This is easily one of the best conversations to ever happen on this show.We stopped by Trust Records HQ for this incredible chat the great Sammy Siegler, one of hardcore's most prolific drummers to ever grace the throne. We dive into Sammy's origin as the Godfather of Open Handed Lefty drummers in hardcore, his brief stint in Gorilla Biscuits, joining Side By Side at 11-12 years old, the Project X 7", joining Youth of Today as a longtime fan of the band, ALL things Judge, Chung King and Bringin' It Down and his later work in CIV, Rival Schools, Glassjaw and somehow Limp Bizkit of all things. We're appropriately joined by my main man Mike Cesario of Twitching Tongues, Disgrace, Pity Sex, Forced Order and more to round out this mini panel of unique drummers. Thanks to Sammy for joining us and sharing so much lore about so many great bands and records. Rest in peace to the universally beloved Andy "The Butcher" Williams of Every Time I Die, Atomic Rule and All Elite Wrestling. When it comes to leading by example, Andy was THE ultimate example to follow from the moment you met him. A beacon of kindness, the benchmark of cool, and an unbreakable pillar of love and support to everyone in his life. To know Andy was to love Andy, but more importantly, to know Andy was to feel loved by Andy.Andy was our second ever guest on HardLore, and technically our 3rd ever recorded episode. In his honor, we've upscaled this original episode to 4K to preserve this important conversation in the highest possible quality. We will love and miss Andy forever and I can't wait to hear the band that he and Bo will surely be working on. Goodbye my friend.Originally aired May 11th, 2022:"Colin and Bo welcome Andy Williams to the show to recount some of his favorite tour stories, from his early days touring with Buried Alive, his long tenure with Every Time I Die, and how he went on to be able to balance his music career with wrestling full time for AEW as half of The Butcher and The Blade."__________00:00:00 - Remembering Andy Williams00:05:29 - 10 Bell Salute00:05:58 - HardLore Episode 4: Andy Williams00:07:01 - The Parallels Between Music & Wrestling00:11:53 - What Set Andy on a New Path00:17:13 - Andy & Buried Alive00:22:54 - Andy's Music Taste Refining00:30:08 - Andy Asks the Worst Places We've Stayed On Tour00:35:22 - ETID's 1 Star Hotel Gimmick00:39:19 - Andy Tour Stories00:48:04 - Balancing AEW & ETID00:52:32 - Andy Loves Little Gear Now, Tour Stories Cont.00:58:29 - Wrestlers and Their Musical Interests01:03:27 - Wrestling Is Songwriting01:11:16 - ETID Setting the Example For Touring Bands01:16:45 - Andy on the End of ETID
