For this episode, I took a seat with the phenomenal, brilliant Christian apologist and humanitarian, Racheal Mutesi. This conversation has a couple of uncomfortable themes that all keep circling back to the fact that the opposite of poverty is justice. From what it's like to grow up in Kalerwe slum to our dismissive culture to mental health - it's all in this episode. Tune in! *** LINKS NABU Network shop. Ssebo Lule is today's man of the show. Lule is a Ugandan poet whose uniqueness in delivery goes as far as the choice of language. What I first noticed about Ssebo Lule is the professionalism that he exhibits when it comes to his brand. For this conversation, he and I talk about the thought process behind his stage name, why he chose to fashion himself as a Luganda poet, and his over a decade experience in the poetry industry. *** LINKS NABU Network shop. This episode was a live podcast recording in honour of the 2023 Women's History Month. This episode delves into the subject of women's digital rights and the obstacles encountered by them in the digital realm. In it, we break down what causes the majority of online violence directed at women, what kind of women are most frequently targeted, and the best ways for women to succeed in digital environments without facing discrimination. The Media Challenge Initiative's CEO, Abaas Mpindi, and Pollicy researcher Bobina Zulfa were among the panel of experts. Bobina highlighted the necessity of a systemic shift, urging governments to enact rules and regulations that safeguard women's rights online and guarantee them equitable access to the digital realm, while Abaas urges us to assess the weight of what it is we intend to communicate before we publish it. "...For me, it's just the humanity that we need..." he stated. "How DigitALLy Fit Are You?" was, is, and always will be a time for us to pause and consider if we are the ones abusing others, the abuse victims, or just well-meaning people who want to make digital environments safe for everyone. *** LINKS NABU Network shop. We had to explain what Postpartum Depression is before we could just go on to the next episode. In the previous episode, Oby, painted for us a picture of what it is like for motherhood to come along with postpartum depression, and while her experience highlights a quiet maternal health issue, I felt it was crucial that we discuss the subject in further detail with our resident Psychiatrist. So in this Episode, here are the Answered Questions: What is Postpartum Depression? Why does it happen? Who is at the risk of suffering from it? This specific episode had a live audience whose questions were answered by Dr. Denis Agaba. For a while now, love or relationships have not been given enough attention on the podcast but now that Valentine's Day fell on a day new episodes get published, there is no way I was going to avoid it. While prepping for this episode, though, I had to ask around for what questions people wished to ask the psychiatrist (in regards to love and mental health) and I think the question that struck me the most was "Does love have to always be painful?" This right here has, for many months, stood to be the most listened-to episode on the podcast. Our guest star is none other than Mercy Geno Apachi - a journalist by profession and a poet by passion. From this episode, we learn that Poetry for Geno made it easier for her to set her emotions in motion, right from childhood to date. Mercy is one of those people who held onto their dream for over a decade only for societal standards to snatch it from them. In this conversation, she and I went over how and why her journey to pursue her love for journalism came to a still. Listen in and find out why this episode ranks number 1. I had my face in my palm when I heard my voice in this episode. I was very fresh in this and still walked around with the worst self-doubt there is. This is the 11th episode on the podcast and the 3rd most listed-to episode. I have published it as it was, in 2020 and the only thing that has changed is the amplification of the audio. The relevance of the conversation on "men and mental health" still stands and will forever be evergreen content until we appreciate the pertinence of mental health and even so, recognise men as wholesome human beings whose mental health should be recognised. Biyinzika trailblazed the men's presence on the podcast and I am forever grateful for his willingness to show up in my toddling stage. *** LINKS NABU Network shop. Gratitude is a noun. It is a warm feeling of thankfulness towards the world, or towards specific individuals. In such a turbulent world that constantly challenges our ability to stay on our feet, the smidgens of gratefulness are like droplets of water on a dry leaf. They repair our brokenness. They refill our cups. In this solo episode, I pointed out some of the moments that inspire gratitude and went on to answer the common questions related to Hash Time with Nabuguzi Kiwanuka.  Why the podcast? Why Mental Health? What took me so long to start? (Touching a bit on Imposter Syndrome and how to thrive beyond it). There's a local saying that goes, " if you fail to make a name the good way .... make it the bad way." I think whatever went through these people's mind was close to this. Though we actually don't even talk about there names!!! sadly true.

It is important for people to remember that all children on the autism spectrum are unique, and what defines one may not define another. Learning more about this helps us know hw to communicate with them. As Kizito said “Autism is not something that you can see. Many people who live with autism look just like any other ordinary person, but in their mind, the world seems different than it would to someone not on the spectrum.” People living with autism have it hard enough, and autism awareness is crucial to better their quality of life and teach others to practice kindness.

I love this discussion so much. Respect is a basic African culture that's gradually eroding as a result of the current social media wildness. I love the fact that young people like you have come up to help us realise that we don't need to downplay it. It doesn't take anything nor a pound of flesh to give honour to elders, equals or subordinates. It's a good sign of being human and humble.
