I remember telling my eldest daughter that I was going to start a podcast and surprisingly, she was totally supportive, on board, and wanted to be on it as a guest. That was almost two years ago and now, it's finally happening.
I have to tell you that it is "candid" meaning, no editiing out words, stories, emotions, and memories. I personally learned so much from this conversation and trust me, I had all the emotions.
Why did we do this? To let you know that motherhood and mothering is a process, an imperfect, messy process of Becoming...and I don't think we're meant to "get it" in this life. How could we when our perception is still flawed and skewed because we're human.
For that reason, I am so very grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. If I didn't have the hope that He could heal not only my heart, but the hearts of those most dear to me, then I would have given up a long time ago. I am so grateful that I didn't. I am so grateful that I kept seeking, searching, learning, testing, in order to transform and transcend where I began to the Present moment. I have so far to go but I'm not alone in this journey.
I hope that through this conversation, you will gaiin insights into your own kids and into your own patterns and that rather than choosing hopelessness, you will choose grace. It's a choice to choose healing, grace, and our Savior Jesus Christ. Love, Hyo

I'm gonna be straight up with you.....this work, this kind of inner reflection is for the brave, the courageous, the seeker of truth and healing. And not everyone wants to do this work. I know so many, even in the coaching world and therapy world, that have no desire to seek out the truth about their inner capacity and healing.
So, I thought I'd do this episode to clear the air...to see if you are the "right fit" for this kind of spiritual rigor and, in all honesty, we are all meant to experience in this life.

***NAME CHANGE EVERYONE***
I know it's such a small change but "words matter"!! I am passionate about healing, about wholeness, about being one with Christ not just in the next life but RIGHT NOW!!
As I've been pondering upon what it means for me AND for you that I'm now a certified trauma-informed coach utilizing somatic and embodiment tools and practices, I had to really sit and ask myself some hard questions.
Will I be of greater service to you and for you?
Can I really help you?
What makes me and my program unique and different and does it matter?
Do YOU and your story matter?
I want you to know that you matter....so very, very much!!
I want to learn all I can the tried and tested tools for trauma healing. You and I only get this one life to live as mortals and I'm on a mission to help ou to grow into the full measure of your creation. Will you let me? I truly hope so.

President Monson's talk: Charity Never Faileth with video
The "Light of Christ" is real.
It's not just theology.
It's not just symbolic.
It's not just a word.
That "Light" that is meant to shine in the darkness is your calling. You are meant to shine that light of truth, goodness, love, hope, peace. Why? So that others may be given the opportunity to glorify God.
But "HOW" do you amplify what is within you? LIsten to the episode and then "go and do".
Love, Hyo
...In reality, we have both! And that's ok. It's part of the human experience on this earth. We aren't supposed to be perfect....we're on the road of perfecting ourselves....it's a journey and not a destination. So, get fearless in finding out your anger patterns. It's going to be ok. I promise. Trust me when I say that I'm still on this journey of self-confronting my anger patters and leaning into the wisdom of what it is trying to tell me about my Self. Healthy vs. Unhealthy AngerAnger is a natural human emotion that serves an important purpose in our emotional landscape, but how we experience and express it makes all the difference.Healthy anger functions as a signal that something is wrong and needs attention. It typically:Is proportional to the situationMotivates constructive problem-solvingProtects legitimate boundariesLeads to appropriate assertivenessDissipates once addressedInvolves awareness and responsibility for the emotionWhen expressed healthily, anger can strengthen relationships by communicating needs clearly and respecting others' perspectives. It often follows a pattern of recognition, regulation, and resolution. Differentiation: Anger is like a flag - telling you that a boundary has been crossed. I could be a physical boundary, mental, emotional, or psychological - there isn’t safety. So where do you not feel safe? - Passionate Marriage - Guest: Jennifer Finlayson-FifeUnhealthy anger becomes problematic when it:Is disproportionate to the triggering eventManifests as explosive outbursts or prolonged resentmentThis leads to verbal or physical aggressionGets suppressed entirely, turning inwardDamages relationships repeatedlyControls the person rather than being controlledBecomes chronic or the default emotional responseUnhealthy anger often creates a cycle where the person feels justified in their rage while causing harm to themselves and others.Healthy anger tends to resolve issues and create positive change. Unhealthy anger typically creates more problems than it solves, damaging trust and emotional well-being.Would you like me to explore any specific aspect of anger management in more detail?Healthy AngerUnhealthy AngerThe Difference in OutcomesHealthy anger tends to resolve issues and create positive change. She left her nursing job in 2020 to discover holistic healing methods that can help people heal from emotional and mental health issues. That is when she ultimately discovered Qigong, which she used to help herself heal from burnout, anxiety, and grief. "Tell me not your politics or religion. Tell me only your suffering". - Louis Pasteur
"Life is suffering".- First of four noble truths of Buddhism
I never found the question, "What is the purpose of suffering", to be very helpful..
Rather, I'd like to pose another question (or two) with you instead...
"What is suffering calling you to do?"
I heard this question asked by Dr. James Hollis and it stopped me dead on my tracks (well,, not really because I was driving).
And then another question came up from that...
What is suffering calling me to Become?"
I've been marinating on these two questions and felt a nudge to make it into a podcast episode.
So, my friends, get ready with pen and paper and be prepared to do some curious inquiry.

Dr. Suess mentions in that book, “Oh the Places You’ll Go”.
You can get so confused
that you'll start in to race
down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles cross weirdish wild space,
headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place...
...for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or the waiting around for a Yes or No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.
Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for the wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting.
What are we waiting for?....I call those the “unmet blessings”, the “unanswered prayers”. And to be in that waiting place can be so painful. I can feel that even within myself. It’s like a sinking feeling that makes me want to cave into myself. But whatever you’re feeling as you are thinking about this, I want to invite you to carve out “sacred space” and allow it to be there for just a moment….at least through this episode.

I remember as a kid saying, in a taunting voice, “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” Boy, was I wrong because I had plenty of words thrown at me and they did hurt. Like I can still remember some of them. AND, I remember throwing out words to others that I know was hurtful to them. (Sigh). What I wouldn’t give to take those forms of sticks and stones back. In reality, a lot of my healing has been around words that were said by others and words said to my own Self. And maybe this episode has to do with a bit of healing within me and I hope that it will bring insight and healing to you as you may be identifying moments and memories where words were used to hurt and define you in ways that have had a negative impact in your life.
I want to take the “Somatic Life Coach” approach about the impact on words, especially when directed toward our Self. Ok, just saying that made me realize that I always take that approach as well as integrating the teachings of Jesus Christ and how as disciples of Him, we can implement words in our lives to help you and I to move along what President Nelson calls the “covenant path.” You will hear me share personal stories, stories by my clients, and how, as a somatic life coach, I address these concerns in a session. I hope that as I share the different tools I use and why I use them, you’ll find them helpful in your own personal circumstances.

The Forest, by Nikita Gil
One day when you wake up, you will find that you’ve become a forest.
You’ve grown roots and found strength in them that no one thought you had.
You have become stronger and more beautiful, full of life giving qualities.
You have learned to take all the negativity around you and turn it into oxygen for easy breathing.
A host of wild creatures live inside you and you call them stories.
A variety of beautiful birds nest inside your mind and you call them memories.
You have become an incredible self-sustaining thing of epic proportions.
And you should be so proud of yourself, of how far you have come from the seeds of who you used to be.

Chris Rich is a life coach who helps others in mixed-faith relationships find "peace" that passeth all understanding.
We discuss these points and how they can help you navigate your ex-spousal relationship when he decides to no longer "do church".
When life “gives” you a cactus, you don’t have to sit on it
what do you mean by this? So if not sit on it then what do you do with the cactus?
What one or two tools can you can that has helped you navigate the cactus in your life as it has related to kiddos/marital relationship.
When difficult circumstances arise, ask yourself, “How do I need to handle myself” in this moment to be a person I respect?
what does this mean to you?
One difficult experience that you didn’t handle well
One difficult experience you handled well in self-integrity
What if this a your greatest “gift” for growth?
Do you really believe your cactus is a “gift” for growth?
Evidence of it
How you have seen a change in familial dynamic because YOU are a person of self-integrity

Who is in your tribe? Have you been intentional about who you let in and who you confide in? I personally have found that not all of my past friends are currently in my tribe. At first, I felt some guilt but then realized that I wanted to surround myself with those that were:
Help me to “arise and come forth” towards Christ
Don’t co-sign my BS and my victim mentality
Still be a soft landing when I do have bad days - safety
Share your dreams, desires, wantings, longings
And the most important of all…I wanted to surround myself with those I wanted to “emulate.” Those that had characteristics and attributes that I desired to instill in myself. This took time for me to find. I did a lot of watching and listening. I did a lot of checking in with myself
