During the visit with the Equites Elders, more of Emily's past comes out and causes Chevailer to wonder how much about her he doesn't know.
Emily discovers a deception by Chevalier during their bonding, and decides to leave the island for good. Kyle follows her, but ends up in a fight with 3 other heku. The Elders call and insist on a meeting with Chevalier and Emily.

During a heku’s trial, Emily sees firsthand how brutally violent Chevalier can be. He spends alone time in his office while he tries to decide why he’s feeling what he is for Emily, and why he would seduce one as young as she is. Kyle fights to keep Emily on the island when she tries to leave.
Left alone while Chevalier attends another meeting, Emily befriends Kyle, but learns the hard way that some of Chevalier’s coven isn’t ready for her arrival. A small injury infuriates Chevalier, along with her growing friendship with another heku.
Chevalier and Emily make it to Island Coven amid fears from Emily that it greatly resembles a prison. Once settled in, Chevalier is immediately called away and Emily has to endure her first evening alone in his castle. When he returns, a small argument ends the night. The next morning, Emily threatens to leave, but finally relents to stay until Chevalier returns from yet another meeting, this one involving Ulrich and his Elders.
As tensions grow in the mansion, Chevalier starts to think that Emily won’t be able to control her abilities. After putting his conscience aside and doing something against his nature, Emily comes to a realization and understands how to somewhat control the ability to turn a heku to ash. The truth of the training finally comes out, and Emily is left with resentful feelings. What she thought was a kind heku trying to help her control her abilities, is really a heku bent on her joining his coven and moving into the explosive world of the immortal.
Using powers only available to a Chief Enforcer, Chevalier revives a heku that Emily once turned to ash. He plans on using this heku to show Emily how to control her abilities. He begins the arduous task of getting Emily to understand what she’s done to heku in her past and what she’s capable of. Emily takes the news hard, and shuts down as she sifts through years of lies and tries to find the truth. When she’s finally introduced to the heku Chevalier revived, things begin to slowly fall into place.
Chevalier whisks Emily off to a remote house in Colorado to recover. Once she’s well enough to get around, he decides to begin the long process by learning as much as he can about what she’s been told of her history. He discovers that many things have been kept from her, things that would help her understand what she’s capable of. He also starts to introduce her to the heku species. Chevalier learns that Ulrich is actively seeking Emily, and tension grows as she begins to retaliate for what she considers a hostage situation. He discovers how dangerous her abilities can be and starts to wonder if he's putting both of their lives at risk needlessly.
Chevalier gives a report of his findings to the Council, who agree to let him continue studying Emily. He is reminded of the Winchester story and finds it too coincidental. After an accidental encounter with Emily, Chevalier finds out the startling truth about her heritage. Another heku confronts Chevalier and he learns even more of her family’s shocking past. Following a horrifying accident, Chevalier finds himself taking care of Emily and having to make a hard decision that could bring her into his world.
Heku episode 01 provides the first glimpse into the world of the heku, a species older than even humans. The blood-drinking species is militaristic in nature and highly volatile. Chevalier, Chief Enforcer for his heku faction, is sent on a mission to discover why a mortal woman is being victimized by his own species. One of the strict rules of the heku is not to feed from unwilling donors, and it's Chevalier's job to enforce those laws. Emily, a rancher from Montana, has spent her entire life fighting off what she believed to be vicious vampire attacks. She runs the ranch with her abusive husband Keith, and her invalid father. When Chevalier arrives to investigate reports of the heku attacks on the ranch, he finds an unnatural and unprecedented attraction to Emily, something completely unknown to his kind.
