Twilight? That's the last series I would have thought they would like.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
i came to this episode of the podcast to become more relaxed before i sleep and now i feel faced with the inevitable end of all things, thumbs down
Dear Grey and Brady (Grey is definitely on the left), Following the talk about it, the original lyrics were "four collie birds" (as in collier/coal miner) meaning black birds.
Really enjoy the podcast and long may it continue!
From a Tim (really called Harry)
it's my birthday you posted this for me right? lol
An alternative to the geography hypothesis is given by Daron Acemoğlu's book Why Nations Fail. His main emphasis is on institutions and centralization. Natural resources are not the main issue according to him.
E. Mehmet Kıral Thank you. Most social scientists discredit the geography hypothesis, especially Guns, Germs and Steel as absurd oversimplification, along with cultural hypotheses. It's beyond frustrating that youtubers and pop educational channels never draw attention to proper institutional theories like Acemoğlu's. I'd recommend also looking at Fukuyama's pair of Political Order books to build on Acemoğlu's ideas.
The 12 Days of Hello Internet may be the greatest Christmas miracle ever
greg fehribach ikr! they are spoiling us
finally an episode right before I'm going on a plane, the heavens have poured out blessings on my poor soul today.
still the best podcast I have listened to
This is THE airport and travel episode. Even one of the ads is set in an airport . Amazing~
"one survey question"
"We'll run out of things to talk about... if we even make it to 10 episodes..."
Here after listening to episode 115
I caught up to the show a while ago and it still feels like there's a gap in my life
I know screwball scramble!! Amazing game! Probably hideous, but addicting
I'm bloody offended that Cornwall and Wales aren't tarnished with the same brush. proud welshy/cornishman
Arvid Ekberg I always love their discussions.
I don't understand how they are complaining about constant heat, and reading reports on frequent heatwaves, but not meantioning climate change.
Wesley Trimble Jesus Christ can't they just talk without people like you trying to dictate what they should or shouldn't talk about? (I believe climate change is real) people like you really piss me off
Elephant Wig I mean, maybe, but climate change denial really that rampant in the UK? and you do know it's a science communicator/ex-BBC journalist and a physics teacher, who have talked about the more vs less effective ways to reduce CO2 emissions before. nonetheless I wouldn't be surprised if they addressed it next podcast. (Or perhaps not because they don't want to reduce their listener base?)
