Description
Hey Sis, Eat This is a celebration of food, entertaining, and funny family tales hosted by sisters, Courtney & Whitney. Inspired by their mom, AKA Momma Ashley, a caterer who happens to know a thing or two about eat’n, drink’n, and tell'n stories! The sisters gather each week to gab about funny Momma Ashley stories, the hits and misses of their weekly menus, and parties thrown. Sibling guests join them to recount funny stories of holiday celebrations, family trips, and what it was like at their childhood dinner table. In each episode there is something new to learn about cooking and hosting while also recognizing the laughter and joy mothers provide us with daily.

This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, Courtney and Whitney chat with Rachel Holtzman, the woman behind more than sixty co-authored books with names like Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen, Eden Grinshpan’s Tahini Baby, Alicia Silverstone, Tiffani Thiessen, and Robin Quivers. Rachel shares how her path took her from the glossy Elle magazine world to the kitchen at Gramercy Tavern, blending her love of storytelling and food into a career helping others bring their ideas to life. She explains how she captures each client’s authentic voice, creates space for vulnerability, and helps authors tell stories that feel personal and true. And then there is Momma Lois. Rachel learned early on that her love of food might come from childhood buffet trips where she perfected the art of a Caesar salad topped with fried calamari. She also credits her mom for her curiosity and drive. Lois is the kind of woman who once decided to learn how to make lattes at Starbucks just to understand the system, and her favorite piece of advice still guides Rachel today: “You can make your life as easy or as hard as you want to.” Pull up a plate and listen in for stories that’ll leave you hungry, inspired, and maybe rethinking your next buffet strategy. After their annual trip to the State Fair of Texas, Courtney and Whitney recap the adventurous day of eating corny dogs, drinking Mustard flavored beer, and riding a ridiculously large swing that had Courtney scared AF. With Momma Ashley in toe, they hit all of the fair highlights including the famous butter sculpture, enormous hog balls, and some last minute nachos. Next, Courtney and Whitney swap their signature martinis for beer flights with Cody Martin and Dylan Stefanos of Fort Worth based Martin House Brewing Co. in Fort Worth, TX. The brothers share how an engineer’s curiosity turned into Texas’ most inventive brewery where they’re brewing a new flavor every week including their Mustard Beer for the State Fair or Texas. Raised by Momma Cara, a woman they describe as patient, giving, and understanding, it’s clear where they learned their grounded approach to life and business. Her mix of compassion and grit comes through in every story, the kind of mom who drinks a pot of black coffee before sunrise, listens without judgment, and somehow always knows when to step in or let her children figure it out. Between sibling stories, questionable flavor experiments, and a few laugh-out-loud tasting moments, it is a Texas-size hang that is equal parts beer talk and brotherly banter. This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, things get a little fishy…literally. Courtney, Whitney, and Momma Ashley dish on everything from a dangerously delicious tuna sandwiches, to Momma’s canned meat creations and Fall inspired recipes. The episode kicks off with Whitney’s concern that Courtney is one panini away from mercury poisoning due to her obsession with the tuna mousse sandwich at her “office” Joe & the Juice. Meanwhile, Momma’s been busy catering a top-secret wedding (that isn’t so secret anymore) after telling everyone about the menu at her monthly book club. Even more shocking is the lunch she served at book club, a retro “meat mousse” made with deviled ham that has the girls gagging. They round out the episode with their latest fall favorites. Whitney declares her Lemony, Parmy White Beans a total panty dropper, while Courtney shows off her pumpkin pie topped with Momma’s famous praline — which she’s now putting on just about anything that stands still. They also give a sneak peek at next week’s boozy brewery episode with the Martin House Brewing Co. brothers, Cody and Dylan. Martin House Brewing Co. brothers, Cody and Dylan. And just when you think it’s over, Courtney gets a surprise visit that scares her worse than Whitney’s Halloween decorations. It’s a sweet one this week — literally. Momma Ashley and Whitney earned a shared second place at the North Haven Gardens Pie Contest for the bourbon pecan pie, though Whitney is still convinced the family’s crack pie was robbed after being completely devoured before voting ended. Courtney shares her own baking adventure of making three dozen brownies for the school carnival, which somehow required five grocery runs in one morning. And because she’s always thinking ahead, Momma pitches North Haven Garden on cooking classes using their herbs and veggies, turning pie day into her next big idea. The sisters kick things off with an update on Courtney’s new house and her adventures in DIY furniture building. From proudly assembling a credenza and nightstand to a late-night dresser disaster that left an IKEA manager accusing her of “furniture abuse,” Courtney learns the hard way when to pick up the power drill—and when to put it down in favor of rosé. With her walls still bare, Courtney sets her sights on Daddy Ashley’s art collection, but his non-committal response sparks a new sisterly scheme: pitching him on turning her home into a gallery where guests can buy the art right off the walls. Courtney also shares the emotional reveal of Vivi’s “dream room,” the teenage dance crew already taking over the podcast studio, and the satisfaction of settling into a space that finally feels like home. Meanwhile, Whitney has been jet-setting to New York. She dishes on a wedding weekend, an unforgettable dinner at Israeli hotspot Shmoné, and a surprise run-in with Hey Sis alum Chef Lior, better known as The Spice King. From there, she takes us inside The Room Women’s Summit NYC “room-union” lunch, where a six-hour feast somehow included recipes for hiding the taste of magic mushrooms. Whitney wraps with one last New York story: a rain-soaked martini meet-cute that led to the planning of the very first “Panty Dropper Dinner Party.” Hit play and get ready for an episode best served with a Dirty Sis Martini! Hey Y’all! Whitney and Courtney are back at it with another Sister’s Dish Summer addition of Hey Sis, Eat This, talking about Courtney’s big move into her first solo place post-divorce—and actually, her FIRST solo place EVER! The sisters unpack (no pun intended) this monumental milestone in Courtney’s life and reflect on how the time together reminded them of the days when they were roommates moving into their first Los Angeles apartment. Courtney is not shy about professing her gratitude for Whitney’s superhero effort in taking charge of the move—doing everything from making G-sheets, assembling furniture, ordering power tools, and setting up TVs. Whitney then revealed herself as the MacGyver of home improvement, proudly using AI to help with IKEA furniture assembly, much to Courtney’s surprise when she discovered her sister’s hidden talent for furniture building. The girls also dish on their three-day cheese binge, including a raclette extravaganza at their new favorite local spot, Kutsaa, and share a hilarious story about Courtney overdosing on magnesium that had her questioning everything. This episode is all about celebrating growth, sisterhood, and all the funny, messy moments that make life sweet. Tune in for laughs, love, and a reminder that no matter what milestone you’re facing, you’ve got a sister right there with you. Let’s get into it! It’s another summer sister catch-up on Hey Sis, Eat This! While Whitney was jet-setting off to a women's Summit in South Carolina and picking up peaches from The Peach Truck in Fort Worth, Courtney’s been deep in furniture shopping for her new house and driving the 'Beshert Bus' aka kid carpool. Whitney spills the sweet tea about her recent trip to The Room's 3rd Annual Women's Leadership Summit, including Momma Ashley’s famous Pinch of Texas brownies in the gift bags, a hilarious tip from Susie Sarich (of SusieCakes) about eating in Japan, and the new trending name for menopause that had the sisters ROFL...Cougar Puberty! She shares takeaways from interviews she had with badass women marketers like the influence of our mommas and the brand slogans that stuck with us from childhood to which Courtney breaks out in one of Daddy Ashley's jingles from the 80's for Church's Chicken. Courtney takes a moment to praise former guest Caroline D’Amore who bravely opened up to the sisters about her face to face encounter with Jeffrey Epstein. With all the recent news of the case, they chat about Caroline's advocacy for women, the ongoing fight for justice, and why it’s so crucial for women to let their voices be heard. Courtney tries to sign off, but Whitney gets in one last word that sums up the vibe: welcome to Peach Girl Summer. In this compilation episode of the best "Teenage Idiot" stories shared on the pod, Courtney and Whitney kick off the laughs by recounting some of their more idiotic moments from their youth. From fake IDs and lying to parents to wild nights and questionable decisions, everyone reveals their funniest and most cringeworthy moments from when they were young. Welcome to "Teenage Idiots," a collection of stories that will have you wondering how you ever made it out of the teen years alive! In this hilarious Party Animals compilation, various guests recall their not-so-smartest moments as teenagers when they decided to party like it was 1999. No matter the year, these teenage idiots prove that the prefrontal cortex is still way underdeveloped during these formative years! Now, as thriving adults (thankfully), they sit down with the sisters to relive their most foolish high school antics and the even more idiotic efforts to cover their tracks. You know you were once a “Lil’ idiot,” so pour yourself a Zima, a wine cooler, or a glass of Boone’s Farm, and join us on this wild trip down memory lane—because sometimes, dumb is just part of the journey. There’s no time for a guest this week—when there’s too much delicious food to discuss! Join Whitney and Courtney as they sip Dirty Sis Martinis and recap 3 days of their summer 'Cookathon'. The sisters dive headfirst into their cooking bonanza during Courtney’s visit to Dallas. A culinary whirlwind from grilled ahi tuna topped with Eden Eats Chermoula sauce to spicy shrimp tacos using Momma Ashley's Ancho Chile Salt. With fresh peaches from the Peach Truck in hand, they made peach margarita's, jalapeño peach salsa, and a sweet finale courtesy of Momma Ashley, who—as always—came through with last-minute recipes when the girls ran out of time (and steam). The episode heats up when Courtney’s BFF Elle enlists them to cook a special birthday dinner for her momma, Jeannie’s 83rd celebration. They whip up a menu featuring a grilled peach and stracciatella salad, a rif on their Sweet Potato Gratin, and Lance's Panty Dropper Chicken (which didn't make Momma Ashley's panties didn't drop). This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, the sisters reconvene to recap vacations filled with missing flights, making meals, and unexpected prairie dog hunts. Courtney's Jackson Hole and Utah adventure with her daughters got off to a rocky start thanks to a Real ID snafu. But things took a turn for the mystical when she stumbled upon a 700 lb crystal while on a hike. Surrounded by her daughters, BFF Elle, and BBQ mogul Brent Harman, the group harnessed the magic to manifest their dreams “giving birth” to a new start after a hard year. She also took full advantage of vacation to cook for friends and navigate those awkward "birds and the bees" talks with her daughters. Meanwhile, Whitney’s annual trip to her happy place—“Camp Ranch” in Colorado—came with a minor hiccup when her horse Sherrie broke her toe prior to departure. But nothing was going to derail her favorite Fourth of July tradition. Between watermelon pico made with love, prairie dog patrol with the family, sunset wine chats, and one very memorable rattlesnake sighting, Whitney soaked up every moment of ranch life. Shifting gears, Courtney and Whitney bravely address the recent tragic floods in Kerr County, Texas and the surrounding areas. The sisters share first-hand accounts and call on the HSET community to support their fellow Texans by donating to recovery efforts. It's an episode filled with laughter, genuine connection, and a heartfelt reminder of the power of community. Hey Y'all! While we’re OOO, we’re replaying one of our favorite Season 2 episodes—this one’s especially close to our hearts and dedicated to Courtney’s sweet pup, Daisy, who recently passed away after a wonderful 18 years. She was the sweetest German shepherd/lab rescue mutt there ever was and she always showed it with her constant licking. We are so grateful to have had you in our lives Daisy. We know you and Lily are together feasting on chicken, dragging around dirty panties, and taking long walks. After a particularly filthy intro, we catch up with Momma Ashley and Aunt Martha for a multi-generational chat about some of their favorite childhood memories of their Momma Martha May aka Ahmay. We’ll also take a trip down memory lane with stories of our entertaining-obsessed grandmothers, childhood dinners, and the pressure to recreate the “perfect” Christmas. So raise your Dirty Sis Martini in honor of Daisy and enjoy this classic Hey Sis moment packed with laughter, love, and a little bit of dog diarrhea. Love you, love your show! In this episode of Hey Sis, Eat This, Whitney and Courtney catch up after Whitney's European adventures, including a trip to Italy, Cannes and Copenhagen. Whitney recounts her most memorable travel moments including a panty dropper basil risotto in France with Daddy Ashley, biking in Copenhagen to the incredible Reffen food hall and a thrilling gin and tonic fueled rollercoaster ride at Tivoli Gardens. Courtney dives into the dinner party she hosted with Momma Ashley for her daughter Vivi's 6th grade graduation. Momma Ashley was determined to make her famous mustard shrimp which calls for tarragon vinegar. After visiting five grocery stores to finally find this must have ingredient, the shrimp didn’t turn out as expected, leaving her wondering if the universe was telling her to skip the dish altogether. Court also recounts a recent dinner at a hot pot restaurant with her good friend Lisa Ling. With a condiment bar full of delicious options and a noodle-making performance topped off with a larger than life dancing panda bear. The episode wraps with Courtney and Whitney discussing their plans for a summer birthday celebration with a Mexican fiesta, loaded with Court's guilty pleasure of queso! This week on Hey Sis, Eat This, we’re excited to have sisterpreneurs Jocelyn and Jordan on the show. They’re the brains behind This Girl Walks Into a Bar, a tasty line of organic cocktail mixers. They share how they built their brand from a love of good drinks and a cool idea to create something together. They talk about how their passion for entertaining and using healthy ingredients led them to make a line of cocktail mixers including flavors for a Margarita, Bloody Mary, and Pineapple Mint Mojito — all made with real citrus and no dyes or preservatives. Jordan also opens up about losing her home in the Palisades fires and how she’s been rebuilding her life and their business, plus how her sister Jocelyn and her family have been there for her through it all. On this episode, we're thrilled to host renowned chef and spice connoisseur Chef Lior Lev Sercarz, aka the Spice King and founder of the spice emporium, La Boite. Lior takes us across the globe — from his childhood on a kibbutz in Israel just miles from Lebanon, where he learned the importance of communal eating, to his culinary adventures in France that sparked his love for spices. After his family eventually left the kibbutz and his parents worked later, Chef Lior often found himself in the kitchen reading cook books while getting dinner ready for his family. As a young man, Lior served in the Israeli military, where he discovered his passion for cooking when he saw how much comfort a warm meal could bring to those he was feeding. This passion led him to attend culinary school in France, where his fascination with spices blossomed. Over a 30-year career, he has traveled the globe in search of the finest, most premium spices. Today, he shares his curated selections with everyone—from home cooks to Michelin-starred restaurants and celebrity chefs. Lior also shares the magic behind some of his signature blends, discusses his beloved cookbook A Middle Eastern Pantry, and explains how spices can transform everyday cooking into extraordinary experiences. He offers an inside look into sourcing his top-tier spices from around the world, revealing how climate and demand can influence the ingredients that go into your spice rack. Whether you're a home cook, a professional chef, or simply a spice lover, this episode will inspire you to elevate your dishes and embrace the joy of flavorful, intentional cooking. Tune in to find out whose spicy Bloody Mary reigns supreme! Get inspired, and let’s eat this! You “kinda” don’t want to miss this week’s episode of Hey Sis, Eat This, as we welcome special guests Julie Paiva, a talented screenwriter known for Kinda Pregnant, now airing on Netflix, and her wonderful sister Lisa. Together, they share a heartfelt and humorous look at their unconventional childhood in Northern California, celebrating the life lessons and creativity imparted by their remarkable mother, Momma Bibi. We rewind to the ‘80s, when Momma Bibi and Dad Michael divorced when the sisters were seven and ten. Bibi chose stability first when co-parenting, keeping her girls in their childhood home with their dad, while still fostering a close relationship with them through foodie filled adventures. Daddy Michael tackled single-parent mode with “French-Toast Thursdays,” microwave-cooking classes, and a very liberal kitchen-only cigarette policy that cured any teen smoking phase fast . A Sufi seeker who swaps small talk for theories on the nature of time, Momma Bibi raised her daughters on spiritual “square dancing” and Cheez Whiz with jarred beef on annual camping trips. Her trademark Bibi-isms (“blow your nose, get a little glass of orange juice, take two sips then tell me what happened”) still echo whenever life gets wobbly . Tune in to hear how Bibi instilled in her daughters the importance of love, peace, and connection, and how she encouraged them to embrace their individuality and celebrate their own unique paths. Also, make sure to check out Julie’s hit movie, Kinda Pregnant, starring Amy Schumer, now playing on Netflix and her next venture, a children’s book series launching with The Lucky Penny, inspired by Momma Bibi’s DIY optimism.
